Unfortunately, this is over simplifying the problem. Doing such a task would be incredibly daunting.
First, how do you handle data synchronization across the cards? PCI-Express is fast, but not nearly as fast as local VRAM. Synchronizing information across the cards would be very difficult...
The problem is in Xinerama and the Nvidia drivers not the card itself. You can do 3 screens with Xinerama but you will give up 3d acceleration. The best dual monitor functionality for Nvidia under linux is using Twinview which I believe somehow uses or emulates Xinerama's features but only for...
It would be a bad idea to use an UPS. This was mentioned earlier. An UPS is used to keep a computer on long enough to turn it off. They don't use the most expensive or efficient batteries either. There is no way an UPS would do it.
I remember trying to chain together UPS on my work computer...
The data speeds are too slow for a modern MMO. Besides, even if it were fast enough... the latency would be through the roof. This is satellite communications, Electro Magnetic Waves take time to travel between an iridium handset and the satellite.
I wonder what he is using for service in...
Anyone talking trash on Klipsch (other than the well deserved trash talk from the promedia fiasco) should take the opportunity to listen to some of the Klipsch Heritage series.
This is truly, truly a sad day...
Replace a couple burnt components and upgrade cooling for. Total money spend is less than $100.
Just sayin... Granted, I can do the repair on my own. So, that may set me apart from a few of the people with this dilemna. Honestly, I wish I could afford to replace these speakers. I'd just...
For me, it isn't so much about being attached to the two 8" subs and sub box. It is about the $$$ involved. I bought this non-functioning but complete and in near mint condition Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra Set for $60 locally!!! Now for a small amount of effort and money, I can make them...
Does anyone know what the specs are on the thermistor in the power supply? It is labelled TH501 on the AC/DC converter board. Mine is clearly cracked and damaged. I was also wondering if anyone has a list of components on the daughter board. I want to order the parts before I desolder and pull...
I believe the GT 430 is capable of bitstreaming and I know it is HDMI 1.4 capable. Just read the HardOCP review to make certain on the bit streaming.

The reviewer did mention the previous issue. He did not discuss them in detail or harp over them. Though, I do feel it could have been emphasized better. I also would've liked some objective information about the card. However, I still think the reviewer did a fair job. Granted, I'm more...
Numbers do represent sound. The numbers are a good way to confirm what you are hearing. If something sounds strange, THD and IMD numbers are useful tools to identify the cause of what you are hearing. Now, numbers without sound are not very useful. It is impossible to describe the sound through...
IIRC, neither XBMC or Boxee support hardware decoding in Windows XP. You have to use Vista, 7, or LInux for that. I use Boxee and its pretty easy to use.

Step one... don't use speakers with foam surrounds :-p
Seriously though, replacing drivers with different alternative drivers takes careful planning and execution. You have to consider the crossover as well as the design of the enclosure.

I use my STX with a complete stereo setup.... I don't know about some of the monitors that have been mentioned. I would point out that monitors are designed for nearfield listening. So, don't expect them to fill a room with sound.
Daniel
I wouldn't be concerned with downward versus forward facing. Listen to the speakers and read reviews to make your decision. Downward versus forward facing is only a very small piece of the big picture.

The lack of HP and torque can be attributed to the aweful concept known as TBI and early 90's american V8s..... but if you look at the Torque over RPM plot, the TBI V8s like the L05 in my truck actually make excellent towing engines in trucks not for race cars.

I wouldn't say that the Essence series is centered around headphone-only use. More specifically, the Essence series is more aimed towards 2 channel audio (to include headphones) where you are using the analog output section of the card. The D series is aim towards multiple channel audio where...
My current setup is an Asus Xonar Essence STX using the analog stereo outputs to a Yamaha C-70 Pre amp. The Pre amp has to sets of main outs. One set is connected to a Yamaha M-60 Power Amp that is connected to a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls. The other main out is connected to another Yamaha M-60...
Well, I can point out one thing that changes in the signal path. When you power off the computer, the Xonar STX has a pair of relays that disables the output of the card. You can hear the clicking when you first power your computer on.The relay disconnects the card from the signal cable going...
This is good news. ATI is definitely helping to keep the prices competitive. If ATI continues to improve the linux support even further.... I just might purchase an ATI card this time around. Believe me, I really want them to improve that support so I can partake in the great price vs...
Did you have these issues even while at stock speeds? If you are unsure, I would clock everything back to normal as well as put all voltages at stock to see if that solves the problem. Then, you have some grounds to start troubleshooting on.
Indeed, I agree with you there. I personally think that some of the stuff listed in the isps TOS can be questionable. Basically it is inspecific, causing some grey area. :(
Have you read yout TOS in full from your ISP? I have read my ISP TOS front to back. There is definitely some stuff in there that gives the ISP more power than you would think they should have. The parts I quoted earlier in this thread show part of it. Some ISPs reserve the right to deny you...
All right, I did some digging around in the documents listed here: http://www.comcast.net/terms/
Obtained from the comcast Terms of Use located at http://www.comcast.net/terms/subscriber.jsp
"5 B.
you agree not to use the Service for operation as an Internet service provider, a server...
I"m not 100% sure on this but if I remember correctly, the Comast terms of use mention something about peer to peer networks not being allowed. However, I have not reviewed the terms. I plan to do so sometime soon. I do remember fairly distinctly that the terms do restrict you from running an...
I have to agree with CrazyBernie. I believe that the sales have to do with the lack of availability of products during the month of January. I am a computer sales associate at Circuit City. In the city of Little Rock, Arkansas, I found that most customers were forced to wait to purchase due...
They appear to be the same to me. Also, if you have a circuit city nearby--buy it from the Circuit City website. Because you can always return it to the store if you have issues within the first 30 days and get a gift card or refund then turn around and buy it from the website. Also, you...
Eclipse, the 1 & 3 slots are the yellow ones, not the orange ones (If I remember correctly). When I get a chance to pull my PC out of the desk and test on the kitchen table, I'll try setting some of these settings and changing the clocks. Thanks for the advice and I'll be back soon with...
The ram is installed in slots 1 and 3. The other information you requested is as follows (I used the abbreviations where applicable due to lack of paper space):
Dram Frequency Set 150 Mhz or Dram/FSB:3/4 (This is the setting giving me issues)
CPC: Auto
Tcl: 3.0
Trcd: Auto
Tras: 08

Hey guys,
I have a question concerning memory dividers while overlocking. I am using a DFI Lanparty Nforce 4 Ultra D with an Athlon 64 3000+ and 2gb of OCZ Ram. The FSB is running at 288 Mhz to 2.6ghz out of the processor (that is a 9x multiplier). The ram is running a 3/4 Multiplier...
I just have a quick question! I have read HardOCP for 3 years or so now. I enjoy the articles written as well as the benchmarks! You are benchmarking the products whether you call it thay or not. Just my thoughts... Keep up the good reviews. :p
I am having some issues with IE7+ not displaying Hardocp correctly. I was hoping u guys would have some suggestions on how to fix this. Also, I've attached a screenshot to show you the issue. Thanks!
I have a DFI NF4 and the onboard sound SUCKED!!! It's biggest issue was that it sucked processor time especially in 5.1 sound in games. Also, I think motherboard manufacturers should not drop the PS/2 port. I still use it on my mouse and keyboard even though my mouse is USB capable--I just use...
