As mentioned, a Pentium M cannot be upgraded to any core cpus. This includes core solo, core duo or core 2 duo. Your only choice is another Pentium M, that's it. The core cpus are either socket M or P, while your Pentium M is socket 478.

This is a no brainer. Obviously the 7950GTX is a much better card than the 8600GT. The only thing that the 8600 has is dx10 capabilities. But if you play in dx9, then there's no comparison.

Umm not much, but you can look at the task manager when on the external monitor vs when on the regular monitor and see how much more the cpu/hdd/memory is used.

For purely desktop purposes, even an integrated card can do that resolution fine because it's a 2D image.

Says who?!?!? I have an xpress1150 and get a score of 2.9. And we all know that these run Aero fine, heck even the gma950 has no problems. So seeing how a card much worse than a "2.9 rated" card runs aero, I dunno where you got the "anything lower than a 3.0 won't run Aero".

While I may agree that Core Duo is a helluva processor, I dont really see it being the most powerful cpu out there. The only thing that it has is two cores, but when you look at each core individually, its just slightly more powerful than the equivalent PM. And we know that the PM @ 2.26GHz...

For even less than that, get the acer travelmate 4404 from newegg. On top of that, the x700 in the acer will obliterate the toshiba's video card (which I dont think will run eq2 too well) Oh yeah, and all the specs are much better.

Its not socket 479, thats for sure. Its a 478, and will fit in the s478 desktop motherboards. The thing is tho, will the bios recognize it and have it run correctly that is the question, because it physically will fit just like any other 478 northwood/prescott desktop cpus.
