I got my first gaming monitor the other day, a Dell 32' 1440P that runs at 165Hz with HDMi and 165Hz with DisplayPort.
I am using HDMI right now, but I can run USB-C to DisplayPort on my laptop.
Is it really worth it to get a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to get that extra 21Hz when playing games?
No, I have a Chromecast and Fire TV for streaming. What I need is something to play files like MP4, AVI, etc. that I have saved on an external hard drive right now.
Wow, I haven't been here in years now, so I'm not even sure which forum to put this.
Anyway, I am looking to buy a media player that allows me to watch video files on the TV via HDMI. Everything I see listed at places like Amazon has pretty bad reviews, so I'm hesitant to buy any of those...
I just got my first SSD (SanDisk 256GB). I used EaseUS Partiton Master to clone my old HDD to the SSD. It now shows I have a 155GB C: partition on the SSD. Can anyone tell me how to recover the rest of the disk space and either add it to my C drive or create a new partition? Thank you
I didn't make a backup disk when I first got the laptop. Is there already a backup on a hidden partition or do do I have to do the recovery from a disk I make? Thanks
I used to have things set up where the monitor was hooked in to my laptop and I could see the desktop on both the monitor and the laptop screen. Somehow I managed to extend the desktop on to the monitor and I can't get it back to where the desktop is on both. I tried deselecting the "extend my...
Is there any way to make an external cd drive function as the primary drive. The cd drive in my notebook died and I need to reinstall Windows XP badly. Is there anyway to do this from the external drive? Thank you
I can't even get Xp Home to boot up in anyway so I can begin to fix it. I keep getting to an errror message that says hal.dll is missing and I may need to recopy it. But there is no way to copy it. When I hit Enter it just restarts. I can't repair or install another copy on because I have an...
Nope, no modem with the fiber optic I have. The cable goes from an outlet in the wall straight to the network card.
I called customer service and after being put on hold for 45 minutes they told me that the "lease" was for the desktop they installed fiber optic on and if I wanted to change it...
Thanks RavenD. Below is the service I have which is different from Verizon and some of the other fiberoptic services. I couldn't find anything in the network settings.

Thansk for the help with fixing this. I was able to get into the router setup but I don't have a PPoE to input. Also, I actually don't have a modem at all. The cable runs from an outlet they installed in the wall directly to the network card. I never realized fiber optic would be so complicated...
I got fiber optic internet a few weeks ago and since then I can't get it to work on anything except the computer it was initially connected to. When I try to connect it directly to the laptop, I can't get a connection. When I connect it to a Linksys router, no connection to the PC or the laptop...
I just got fiber optic internet installed today which is something I know nothing about. I used a Linksys router/access point with my cable connection and was planning to use it with fiber optic. The guy installing it told me it was complicated and that I should have him install it. He said alot...
I have a 19 inch monitor I'm not using and a standalone DVD player. I want to use the monitor for the display instead of my aging TV. Is there any way to connect a monitor to the DVD player with some sort of connection adapter. I know they make alot of adapters but I wasn't sure if it was...
Thanks for the info. I felt like an idiot for having to ask but I had just never in my life seen a house with two prong outlets. I'll go to Home Depot tommorrow and take care of that.
I didn't know where to put this topic so hopefully this is an appropriate place for it. I moved into a house that has only two prong outlets so I cant even plug a surge protector in to get the computers setup. Are there converters available for plugging three prong connectors into 2 prong...
Thanks for the help Sarversystems. I thought that would work as well, but after trying to print in both blue and red, cleaning the cartridge, nozzles, etc. and disabling black I still couldn't get it to work. I can't figure out what is causing this. When I print the test page and the alignment...
I have a crappy Lexmark Z515 printer and it will print photos perfectly fine ( the test page as well as jpegs) but it won't print MS Word documents at all. The pages are just blank. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I'm running Windows Xp and I've tried printing with both Word 97 and...
Probably a stupid question, but I created an html file that has about 8 images, that I could e-mail to family, but I can't figure out how to send it properly so that the images show up in the file. The images just show up as attachments and there is just the box with "x" in the top left corner...
When the MB in my old desktop died I pulled the hard drive out and tried to transfer all the data (3 partitions on an IBM Deskstar 60GB) to my laptop using an external enclosure. Some of the data transferred fine but on the last partition I kept getting error messages like either "corrupt and...
I got an external enclosure for a hard drive that I needed some files from so I could transfer them to my laptop. The hard drive had three partitions and all work fine except the third one which about half of the files on will not open or copy to the drive on the laptop. Is there anything I can...
Thanks alot for all the suggestions. I think I may get an external enclosure since they're relatively cheap and I'll probably be able to use it alot in the future. Also, I don't know when I'll fix my desktop. It's a mobo prob and I'll probably just go ahead and upgrade everything (mobo,cpu...
My desktop has been broken for several months now and I really need to get some data off the hard drive for school as soon as possible. I was thinking about taking the hard drive out and putting it in a friend's computer and then transferring the data to my notebook with USB cable. I've never...
Thanks DocSavage. I tried a few things you mentioned but I'm limited in that I don't have much extra equipment to test with. I replaced the HSF to no avail, then dropped down my memory settings in BIOS, and nothing seemed to work. I guess I might have to look into getting a new motherboard/CPU.
Does the Canon A60 (as well as the A70,75, and 80) come with a lens cap. None of the photos I have seen show one nor is it in the camera description. Thanks
I started off thinking thinking I would buy the Canon A60 because I needed something really cheap but decent. Now I'm starting to think I should spend alittle more and get the A70 then I think maybe spend a little more and get the A70 then A75 and so on to the A80.I don't need to print 8x10's or...
