Not necessary. I went from a Striker Extreme (680i) to a Rampage Formula and all I did was run a tool like Driver Sweeper (http://phyxion.net/driver-sweeper.html) to get rid of all drivers. If you're setting up a RAID array on your new mainboard, then you'll have to reinstall everything.
-- Edit: demo's are running in softwaremode. Noting to get excited about just yet --
I made a movie showing a PhysX demonstration on my 8800GTX. Seems to be working okay. This is with the latest PhysX driver and display driver 177.26. I tried some Cuda apps too, but I get a lot...
Intel i740. At least I could play Quake 1 back then. My first real 3d card was a Riva TNT and later on I bought a second-hand Voodoo 1 for Glide games.
My A8N-SLI Premium with an Athlon X2 4400+ is still going strong and has never let me down. My Striker Extreme 680i is less stable than my NF4 board, but I haven't had many problems with it. It's been replaced because it doesn't support quads so that's a major letdown. It will probably end in a...
No probably for the LCD poster device. And the temp connectors are already on many other ROG boards.
I will surely buy one of these. With a Xeon X3350, a VelociRaptor and a GeForce GTX 280.
Lol, my MCP temp has been between 65 and 75 Celcius for over a year now. I really like my Striker Extreme and I haven't had any real problems yet. I bought my SE because my experiences with the nForce4 chipset for AMD were really good, but my next board will probably be an Asus Rampage Formula...
No modification needed. Just use the Force and it will slide right in :D. Attach the metal plates to the 4-in-3 cage, push the metal plates on both sides so the rubber grommets will be compressed and slide it in. It will take some time and force and if it gets stuck use a pen or screwdriver to...
So your psu is blowing warm air into the case? Not very efficient. If I were you I'd buy a couple of ATX extension cables. One 24 pin and one 4/8 pin power cable.
I got the window today (Coolermaster shop). It's rather expensive for what you get, but it's a lot less noisy than the original panel with all those holes in it. So the small window is a bit of a letdown, but I like that fact that my pc makes less noise.
Well, you have to push on the right places to slide it in. I tried it with brute force, but my girlfriend looked at the situation, took a screwdriver, pushed on the right spot and the whole thing slid into the bays :D
There's not much to say. The 4-in-3 module fits perfectly into the bays of the CM690. I attached a Scythe S-Flex fan to the 4-in-3 module with rubber grommets. The semi-ghetto mod with the metal brackets works okay but there was some resonance. IMHO this is a better solution for some extra...
Ive placed a Coolermaster 4-in-3 module in my CM 690 for a "non-ghetto" extra front fan. Took some exercise to get it into the case, but it fits perfectly after all.
I'm experimenting with overclocking using a low Vcore. Currently I'm trying 3.2GHz @ 1.275 V and this seems to be stable: see below.

The windowed side panel will be made available separately. You can buy it in Europe in the mid of January. It will probably be availiable in the US around the same date.
I used the 1600rpm version of the Sythe S-Flex but only at about 900rpm (yeah, I know I probably bought the wrong version). Even at 600 rpm or so it would vibrate, so I put the Nexus back in (with a fan resistor cable). Now it's pretty much quiet.
The side panel bulges a bit so that may...
AtiTool and Vista don't really mix very well concerning temperature monitoring on my 8800GTX. Most of the time AtiTool was displaying a GPU temp of 0 degrees for me.
If you're running XP you could try good old Motherboard Monitor with the Nvtemp plugin. Another simple tool is HWMonitor...
I just looked into in my case and it seems to me that there is a small space between the motherboard and the bracket (where the screws are ofcourse). So the brackets are "hovering" a little over the motherboard. I can't see if it is as dramatic as in your picture. What I do know is that both my...
You didn't remove the plastic parts from the backplate did you? I attached my Ultima 90 without any troubles, so this doesn't look familiar to me. And the fact that you can twist the heatsink a little bit is normal I guess (also goes for it's bigger brother the Ultra Extreme 120).
Maybe the S-Flex isn't really meant to be attached to a side panel. There was a very loud buzz so maybe the engine vibrates a little more than the Nexus? With the Nexus there's only a minor buzzing sound.
I tried the Coolermaster that came with the case: noisy at 60% fan speed.
I tried a Scythe S-Flex 120mm: noisy at 60% fan speed.
I tried a Nexus Real Silent 120mm (see below): much better. This weekend I will attach the fan with a couple of rubber grommits to reduce the remaining noise. I like...
Great case. Had some noise issues with the side panel fan. I replaced it with a 120mm Nexus and now it's pretty quiet. I also tried putting in a 80x15mm fan, but it made too much noise.
Now I'm waiting for the windowed side panel to become available.
Vcore 1.6v is kinda high I guess.
Try these voltages for instance:
Vcore Voltage: 1.3875v
Memory Voltage: 2.15v
1.2v HT Voltage: 1.45v
NB Core Voltage: 1.45v
SB Core Voltage: 1.65v
CPU VTT Voltage: 1.45v

DDRII Channel A Ref Voltage: Auto
