I'm going to upgrade my rig to a probably a Core i7 930 very soon.
With this fancy new PC the only thing that will be holding me back is a crusty old WDC Blue 640gb.
So I'm weighting up my options.
SSD's are still to expensive for me (Im in New Zealand where a 64Gb SSD is $250+)
I can...
Hey guys,
I recently replaced my 9600GT SLI setup for a single Radeon 4870.
See my specs below, I play at 1680x1050.
After I put the card in I did driver cleaner in safe mode, and installed the latest drivers.
I started up Need for Speed Shift...and the resulting weren't exactly...
** Before reading please realise I'm in New Zealand where everything is twice if not more expensive
See my specs below, pretty old setup nowdays. I'm holding out for Core i7 but I still think it's too early to bite the bullet and upgrade.
I've recently got another 9600GT and put them into...
I've just upgraded from two Philips 17inchs to two ASUS 22inchs.
Really happy with my new monitors.
Only problem is, is my 9600GT was struggling with 1280x1024 resolution. Now it has to deal with 1680x1050.
Overall my PC is old. I don't want to do a full upgrade at the moment. I'm holding...
I've been using on-board audio for a long time now.
Recently my on-board audio has kinda died. My mic port is no longer working and my audio output doesn't produce enough sound to use my headphones. So I resorted to busting out an old Creative Sound blaster Live (terrible under Vista, but mic...
Has anyone else tried this?
We're trying to play Nazi Zombies on COD5, theres four of us:
Me, my brother, and a couple of mates.
One of our mates hosts.
Me and my brother of course live at the same place and have the same IP address.
We both have our own copies of COD5.
But we both...
Sound is something I've never been terribly fussed on.
Sure it'd be awesome to have a fancy setup but most of the little money I have goes into the real stuff like new CPUs and Video Cards.
Recently I brought a headset and my onboard audio sucks. It's not loud enough and doesn't even provide...
Damn this is an annoying problem and Google isn't really helping me.
Here's the deal:
About two months ago I could get Vista to go to sleep and wake up without any problems.
Since then, I've brought a new Video card (X1950Pro to a 9600GT now), reinstalled Windows Vista and installed...
Well I finally upgraded from a MSI X1950pro to a ASUS 9600GT and it's been a pretty nice refresh.
Although I can't really say I was expecting to get the "chick" version of the card... I was expecting to get this:
But instead of I got this:
But never mind.
It also appears they...
Well the 8800GT has just come out in New Zealand too (where I live :p)
Only problem is, they're $500 New Zealand. Which is typical.
I'm quite frankly sick of the crap prices over here.
So I was wondering if anyone knows any solid online stores that sell PC gear in US dollars, accepts Paypal...
Completely out of the blue, I won a PSP last week. Just showed up today. I've decided I'm not selling it, I also won a DS Lite last year and kinda pissed off because I sold it. So I'm keeping it =P
Came with three games:
Daxter
Lemmings
and LocoRoco
So what do I do now? Anyone got any game...
I'm considering buying 2x 19inch monitors, possibly 1440x900 widescreen.
I've never had widescreen before, nor played any games on a widescreen.
My question is:
-Do games support this resolution?
-Does everything else besides look crap unless it's at its native 1440x900 resolution...
I'm in the process of buying the all products I need to paint my PC case.

I will most likely following this guide...
My mate recently got a new CPU to replace his 939 3200+.
He has a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium with a Thermaltake 450 Watt PSU.
His old CPU ran fine, 30 Degrees idle and no higher than 50 degrees full load.
He has recently got a new OEM 4600+ X2. So he just put in straight into his current machine...
I recently upgraded my computer, a much needed upgrade.
I went from a Socket A Athlon 2600+, to an AM2 3800+ Dual Core.
One of the main tests I wanted to try, was to render out a movie I had made. It's about an hour long at 1280x720.
I used a mates PC to render it out the first time, he had a...
I'm in a real twist here and can't make up my mind on which to go.
I'm buying a new rig, today in fact, and can't decide between the following video cards:
ASUS 7900GS

MSI X1950Pro
http://www.c1com.co.nz/shop/step1.php?number=9432...
I'm just about to buy a new PC, mainly because my current one stop cutting it a long long time ago.
Here's the specs:
ATHLON64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHZ, AM2, 2MB L2 CACHE, DUAL CORE http://www.c1com.co.nz/shop/step1.php?number=7974
ASUS M2N-E SLI http://www.c1com.co.nz/shop/step1.php?number=9877...
Hi, I'm trying to upgrade from my current rig (sig). It's well over due, and I'm on a tight budget. I want something powerful, reasonably good FPS in major games, and also cheap.
Please Note, I'm in New Zealand and everything is very expensive over here! =P
This is what I've chosen so far...
Well Im totally sick of my 9600XT lateley... Plays FEAR at 640x480 with Medium Settings... And plays Quake pretty crap to at 1024x768. So I've been looking at all my options.
I don't want to upgrade my total system just yet untill Vista comes out (If it ever does)
So Im just looking for a...
Ok check my mobo (Sig) and Im using Gigabytes Easy Tune 4 to check my temps and of course overclocking :p
But there is one problem. I can't seem to set it to Advanced mode. I've also tryed downloading Easy Tune 5... Exactly the same damn prob =\
My mates old computer is EXACTLY mine...
I've been overclocking my mates Gigabyte 6600GT for him... And came up with some awesome results.
Im running at 47C* Idle... And tops about 80C* load. I've tryed making the clock go faster but when I click Test Results it does not approve. And quite frankly the only reason overclocking...
My mate is currently building his computer right now.
He has a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, And plugged in his ATX power plug into the slot. And its to short. See picture
Whats up? Is it safe to turn on? :p
What would be better? They are both the same price from where I come from. 2x6600GT $4 cheaper than just 1 6800GT.
What would be better for money and value? :)
Stated in title, Im just about to buy a CPU for my new PC.... and trying to figure out what the difference is? :p
I see some Newcastle ones are cheaper... Which means they are overall cheaper product?
Cheers :D
The SLI concept is a reality, but what about two GPUs on a single board?
Asus had announced a prototype dual-GPU card based on the Nvidia 6800-series chips some months ago, but the card was cancelled and it never reached the market, in the light of NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX launch...
I've been out of the DVD burner loop for quite awhile now... and I was wondering which one do I buy...
Now I know about Dual Layer... Some of them have 4.8Gbs each layer... Thus 8Gb disc. But I also know there is 16Gb discs... so that means there is 8Gbs on each side.
I can't seem to find...

My mate is planning on buying this 6600GT... I was wondering if anyone eles had one, and if they could tell me what they think about it =P
And does this thing...

Well most motherboards these days have a RCA Video-In port on the back of them. Like so:

And I was wondering how do you use these ports? Can they be used for a DVD...
