I tested the ports using the software from portforward.com and it reports the ports as being open, so it seems that Vuze is to blame here. And things still aren't seeding like they should.
Windows Firewall has Azureus.exe on its list of exceptions for both home and public networks.
EDIT: I disabled Windows firewall and tried multiple ports-- no luck.
I run Vuze frequently at college and have port forwarding setup that that the NAT test passes fine.
I just took my computer home over the break and now I can't get it to pass the NAT test for the life of me. I setup port forwarding on my netgear router but that didn't fix the problem. I then...
I can't stand playing with Vsync on and yes, its triple buffered. Yes, my monitor is locked at a refresh rate of 60Hz so no, I can't explain the input lag that I experience. But its there, so again, using Vsync is not an option.
Now will someone please answer my original question??
I'm an avid L4D player and I use a couple auto-fire scripts that make use of the "wait" function which waits one frame before executing the next command. Because the length of time spanning the "wait" function is dependent on my framerate, the rate at which I can fire my weapon is also dependent...
I played around with SteadyState and can't seem to accomplish what I'm trying to do. I checked "do not store cached copies of locked or roaming user profiles" but a new folder was still created when a user logged on.
I want to prevent users from saving files as well as prevent the Documents and Settings folder from getting filled with crap. I've seen it on other computer lab computers where users can save things to their desktops and what not, but those files are lost once they log out. How can I do this?
I'm in the process of setting up a small computer lab in a University building. I plan on setting up one model computer with Windows XP and using Ghost Solutions Suite to make an image from it and distribute that image to the other computers.
The computers are all on the same domain and the...
Thanks for the help guys. These computer are on the university domain and I'm realizing now that the limited account is a roaming profile of type "ReadOnly." I think this is the source of the problems. I'm not sure what a roaming profile is... suggestions?
I've logged almost 300 hours playing L4D. Its insanely addictive once you find a group of people to regularly play with. Finding those people can be frustrating, though.
There is no program running, I believe its just a windows feature. Thought it might be some sort of group policy setting, but I can't seem to find a relevant setting that has been enabled.
As part of my job I manage and maintain a small computer lab of 4 computers. They were all set up by a previous admin who no longer works here. They are setup to login automatically to a limited account.
Users are able to temporarily save files to the hard drive, but they are wiped clean...
I primarily play Left 4 Dead and running with everything on Medium, my frames dip into the 40's during intense scenes.
I'd like to run it on very high without dipping below 60.
I'm currently running an E6600 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB ram, paired with an 8800GTX which I am looking to upgrade. I only have a 22" monitor, so 1680x1050 is all the resolution I need.
I've done a bit of research but unfortunately a lot of reviews focus on 1920+ resolutions which doesn't apply to me...
My sister's laptop will not boot into windows. It gets to the loading screen, with the scrolling progress bar below the Windows logo, and it get stuck there. The screen doesn't freeze, though. The progress bar just scrolls forever without any hard drive activity after 10 seconds or so. Safe mode...
I don't know if any of you guys experienced this, but the RC1 service pack for vista expires today so I had to uninstall it. Once I did, my system immediately had serious performance issues. Windows update alerted me that I now had ~20 new updates to install, so I did. After about four restarts...
thanks noobtoast, looks like a pretty good deal, but other suggestions are welcome.
In terms of PSU/HDD/other parts I was planning on picking those out myself (I'm pretty picky when it comes to PSUs) I'm just not sure what to pick for mobo/cpu/ram.
My buddy has recently started getting into counter strike source but the integrated graphics on his laptop can't quite cut it. He's low on cash but hoping to build a desktop that can play CS:S without issues. I have a 7800GT laying around that he can use, what do you think would be the cheapest...
I've got a wireless adapter on my desktop and the wireless router is in the next room. Internet works great, but I get lots of choke (30-50) making the game unplayable. Is there any way to fix this or am I forced to string an ethernet cable over to the router?
I've got an E6600 running at 3.4 ghz paired with an 8800GTX. I plan on playing Crysis, etc. Also plan on running Vista x64
So do I get two of these:

in order to have 2GB running at 1066+ for $112
or this...
Fans spin up everywhere, no post beeps. However, I don't think I've ever heard this thing beep. The case speaker might be broken. Monitor cables are fine.
I still can't figure out for the life of me how the system turns itself on when I plug it in.
Turned the system on this morning and no signal on the monitor. Fuck.
I swapped out the video card, reseated the ram, unplugged all the hard drives, cleared the cmos. No dice.
I've been running my E6600 at 3.5ghz at 1.5volts and it ran pretty hot (idled at around 50, load around 65). Could...
I've got a PC P&C 510 and it works great with my E6600 and 7800GT.
However, I'm seriously considering replacing my E6600 with a Q6600 and my 7800GT with an 8800GTX. Will the 510 have enough juice to keep this beast running?
Thanks.
I installed the beta driver. Please read the OP before you reply.
I should definitely be getting better frames... whats the deal? I've got nothing else running in the background.
My Specs:
E6600 @ 3.4ghz
2GB DDR2-800
7800GT (with beta drivers)
Creative X-Fi
Vista x64
The max playable setting for me (30-40 fps) are 1440x900 quality set to medium. Is this normal? I was hoping to do 1680x1050 but its just too choppy (15-20 fps). Any way to improve this beyond...
