This thread has single-handedly inflated the market price of these displays. The majority of these used units are not worth anywhere close to the prices sellers have been asking. It's laughable, actually.

Are the focus pots on the flyback set "perfectly" at the factory? I'm curious if they only require adjustment as a result of (significant) physical monitor displacement or if focus is an attribute which "drifts" with time.

I recently picked up a used/defective FW900. I was hoping that it might be repairable. When the unit is powered on, the LED on the front panel turns green, and the monitor makes four (4) short "buzzing" or "clicking" noises. While it is making these noises, nothing is displayed on the screen...

I would suggest the Sony G520. I currently own a Sony G520P but have owned a regular G520 and a LaCie 22" Electron Blue IV (same tube as the 2070SB). I ended up sending the LaCie back because it had too many geometry problems. Specificially, the top ~1/4" of the screen was stretched...

Sounds like a convergence issue... open the OSD and try changing the left left-right convergence. This is sometimes show as arrows pointing inward like this ">||<."

I have only recently been turning my monitor off at night, but before I was leaving it in it's power saving mode (amber light on). I leave my PC off over night as well. I'm using a Sony G520P CRT, and just a few days before your thread I actually emailed Sony asking them what they recommended...

mathesar, I know this thread is about the FW900, but I had another question about your G520P. I know it takes about 10 min. from power-on for the black levels on the 520 to get really black. I was wondering if you noticed this occurence when you first purchased it brand new. Thanks.
