I would do it. I have the G2/ new 10s version of that setup and its great for listening to music. You could always try those speakers at a guitar center if you want to know how they sound beforehand.

Buy the logitech Z-5300 speakers. I'm sure you will like them. There is really no point in stressing out about getting headphones other people think are great when ultimately you won't like them. If you need headphones over speakers try another sony pair as you seemed to like those.

I've never personally experienced it and I've used it with both dual core and single core. I've played most of the games out there too.... Gothic 3/BF2/2142/oblivion/fear/etc. Didn't notice any killer usage during TV tuning or movie/music playback either.

I heard you go into your install folder.... find the sound.zip then extract all contents. Delete the stuff you don't want and then you can convert the music you want into mp3 with some 3rd party program.

You might want to try out the "head fi" forum. Just search for it on googly. They'll know for sure whats the best.
