I'm on the fence on this one.... My biggest complaint of my Rift is the screen door effect. It's noticeable enough to be an issue when I am using a flight sim, and the resolution isn't quite enough to keep the gauges sharp enough when flying. Both this and the new HP headset announced...
I don't expect that actual forward movement and landing would be a significant challenge over what they showed. It's essentially a quad copter. I am curious on how fast it blows through fuel though. I can't imagine it having a long endurance.
If you are talking cable TV, you likely will need something that supports Cable Card. I have used the Hauppauge card in past, and it worked well. That said, I would more recommend the HD Homerun. The current version, if you can find it, has 3 tuners and doesn't require a computer to use...
No, It's down to the formulation. The difference is that Summer and Winter gas evaporate at different temperature ranges. Summer gas in cold temps causes the engine to be rough and hard to start. The trade off is, winter gas has slightly less energy, which is where that minor mileage...
I agree that it's no surprise that EV's take a major hit on range in cold weather. But, Internal Combustion Engines do not take a significant hit on mileage in the cold. Oil companies do change the formulation of gas in the winter vs summer that results different mileage (summer gas has more...
It's perfectly legal and normal to travel in the left lane in New England. We are even allowed to pass on the right side except for undivided two lane roads. You only need to keep right on freeways if you are going below the posted limit, though if you are only going the limit in the left...
I got the G900 a while back. I don't care for styling, but I've been very happy with it as a mouse. I liked it enough that I upgraded to the G903 w/ the PowerPad a few months ago. I absolutely love a wireless mouse that charges as I use it.
I'm using the DS918+ as well. I didn't bother with the RAM upgrade. The stock 4GB has been enough for my needs, I haven't really hit more than 40% usage. I am using the SSD Cache Option and I have populated 3 of the 4 bays with 8TB drives using the Synology Hybrid Raid. The 4th bay has an...
This should be an interesting roller coaster ride... I'm really just wondering how far they will go. For example:
"pranks that cause children severe emotional distress" I'm all for not giving a platform to people that would truly abuse kids, but what constitutes severe emotional distress...
Man, I wish more people had common sense. They just don't. It's guys like this that ruin it for everyone. No one should be working THAT close to an active runway commercial or not.
I take it, that it wasn't an airport with a tower? Being that close to a runway shouldn't have even allowed...
Oh... I mostly agree. While I don't have numbers, I would expect a portion of these businesses see a low cost drone as a cheap way to get the job done and don't even think about FAA regs. If they do, they probably take a, "but they can't mean me attitude" for what they are doing. On the...
That's not actually true. "Commercial drone operators" is a VERY broad term. It covers anything from large industrial uses to a real-estate agent using a DJI spark to capture some areal photos of a house they are selling. For regulatory purposes, any drone used "in furtherance of a business"...
I have no idea if you are still interested in info, but....
The $100 price range is tough. You're not going to find anything advanced for that price. Your best choice would probably be the Tellos...
The same is virtually true for VR (pun intended :P ) The vast majority of what people use computers for would not benefit from VR. Why would you watch sitcoms, or game shows, or news etc in VR? Why would you work on an office app, surf the web, check email or make posts on social media in VR...
That's the case I'm using too. I love it, but it's not for everyone. It's massive. Fortunately, it fits fine under my desk at home.
I'm also a big fan of Micro-ITX PCs. I have built a few. While not nearly as easy to work with, and you have to be careful on how you manage temps, I simply...
Nice Pics.. Here a some similar shots I took. :) These were taken in 2014 with my Nikon D90. I stayed mostly in Brisbane, but visited Sydney, and the town of 1770 as well.
Taken from one of the water shuttles:
A view of the same bridge from the opposite shore! (Luna Park)

My usual method is to back up using Backup and Restore (Windows 7) from the control panel.
-Create System image
-Create a system repair disc (to USB Stick)
-Swap SSD's
-Boot to USB Stick and use the restore system image option under the troubleshooting section
That's pretty much it. Worse...
I read that the drone is going to be tethered to a building to prevent accidents if it falls out of the sky.... How does that make it any better than a few remote cameras on roof tops?
Gratz! I recently had a similar upgrade. I went from a 6700K to the 9900K. I'm also running a Gigabyte Mobo (the Aurus Master) What are you using for a Cooler, and Keyboard? I know that sounds unrelated, but I have a reason. I recently purchased a new Corsair K95 Keyboard and after I...
I'd second this opinion on the 9700K if it's just going to be used for gaming. I personally got the 9900K, but I also do Video Editing of 4K drone footage so I wanted the extra cores.
As for temps, I'm not overclocking at the moment, but I'm not finding it especially hot. my idling temps with...
I recently purchased a couple of Keyboards. I wanted mechanical since it was replacing my Logitech G810. I got the Corsair K95 RGB for home, and I like it so far. For Work I picked up the Logitech G610 (Red). Frankly, I love the G610 so far. It's not RGB, but it's a simple looking keyboard...
I saw that video too. I personally haven't seen any issues. I have the 918+ 4 bay, the second NAS in the video. So far, it has been a fantastic NAS for me. I have 3 8TB Iron Wolf drives and a single 5TB seagate desktop drive. I have 16TB usable on the Iron Wolves and I use the 5TB drive as...
Honestly, if it's the only hard drive in the machine, I would save the money and get a higher capacity SATA m.2 drive. When I went NVMe on my desktop, I saw no practical differences in performance over the previous SATA SSD I was using. Boot times, game loading times, app loading times...
Musk has always been overconfident in his predictions and he didn't say 10 years, he said 3. He also predicted that his cars would be Level 5 Autonomous capable withing two years.... A year and a half ago.

It could be I have just been unlucky on drives, but I've gone through both WD and Seagate USB drives. In my NAS, I have also loss consumer grade drives more often than I would like. These days I stick to NAS drives like WD reds or Seagate Ironwolf drives, though I've had decent luck with WD...
I personally find USB hard drives to be unreliable. I don't seem to get much better than a year out of one, and that's just leaving it in place.
If you're not wanting a NAS, that's fine, but Cloud subscriptions are still a good option. Carbonite is $72 a year for unlimited storage. a single...
I've been running 3 8TB ironwolf drives in my Synology 918+ since June without issues. It sounds like you just got unlucky on the drive. The good news is, they should have at least a 3 year warranty, so you should be able to get a free replacement.
Just being a bit picky here. But the headline is wrong. Revenue is not profit. It could well be that they made record profits this year, but the article doesn't mention anything about that. Revenue is income before pesky things like taxes, payroll and other costs are met.
Honestly, you won't notice any performance difference. I have two NVMe drives and the only time I see a difference between them and the SATA SSD's in the same system is when I copy files between them. If you are going to use it as the only drive in the system, go for the higher capacity SSD.
You may want to take a closer look at the backblaze support for Drobo. Looking at the documentation, it doesn't appear to be a drobo specific client. It looks like you have to have the client on your local PC and it then will back up data stored on the Drobo. If you want an agent on your NAS...
I love my Ultrawide as well. I use three systems pretty regularly. Two at work and my home gaming PC. At work, I have three 24" 1080p displays and I use all three screens heavily. I also have a 27" Dell 4K panel on an other PC, and while the resolution is nice, I simply can't be as...
I'm not surprised by this, nice work btw. I got a nvme drive a couple of years ago and didn't see any noticeable performance benefits over the SSD it replaced. My latest rig has two nvme drives and when I am copying data between the two drives I see a massive performance benefit. Other than...
I disagree on needing a backup camera. I personally think it makes things more dangerous. I've watched friends focus on that screen a lot more than they should. When you are backing up your head should be on a swivel, not just focused on what is immediately in back of you. It can also become...
I totally agree here. The truth is, modern cars are far more reliable and last a lot longer than older cars. Prior to the Mid 80's a car that had 100,000 miles was a miracle. Today it's expected. Even the time between oil changes is radically different. in the 70's and 80's going 10,000...
No. That's one of the things I find funny about this. A while back Elon Musk was complaining about how long it took him to get to SpaceX from the airport. A couple months later, he gets permission to dig a "test tunnel" for his underground city tunnel concept. Now, because he's Elon Musk...
150mph is trivial for high speed rail. Even the current Acela line hits that speed. Most of the limitations of that train are due to speed limits in place. The Acela isn't even a maglev train. It uses standard gauge tracks.
People are confusing this tunnel train with the Hyperloop. This is...
