I’ll be running my 4 x 8gb trident neo kit at 3800 mhz cl16. I’ve seen gaming benchmarks and that is the sweet spot for maximum performance. If you want good performance ram, get Samsung. Corsair uses hynix and their ram has no wiggle room.
I hope we see AIB designs by tomorrow but either way even oem is fine by me. AMD builds the reference pcb well enough to where it will OC just as good as AIB when both are on water and thats all i care about. I’m hoping to get lucky enough to get one on the 8th because I plan to keep it and sell...
The 3080 Ti will be such a pointless card. It still won’t beat the 6900 XT in raster performance since the 3090 already can’t unless its a few select games at 4k. RT is still up in the air as we are still waiting on next gen games that might be better optimized for RDNA 2 since AMD is in both...
I got one more Dark Hero today. I asked another buddy who's building an AMD system if he wants it, if he doesn't, then I'll do one of three things:
1. Offer it up here at MSRP
2. Return it
3. Offer it on the telegram group I'm part of as the guy who writes the code for it has asked me for a...
I just grabbed another one off Amazon for my buddy. Guess he can cancel his Strix-e now and use this instead. So far i found him a evga 3080 and this board. Dude owes me a few beers.
I wonder if NVIDIA will be able to build something like the M1x when they eventually take control of ARM? Since they’ll be in charge of future roadmaps for the architecture, we might see GeForce integration in some manner on most SoC. But I want nvidia to pursue the desktop space and hopefully...
Yah for sure, if i wanted 99% of the performance I could have gone for a b550 board and been done with it. But where’s the fun in that? It’s why we spend money on custom loops and boards.
I always shoot for the best performance i can get within reason. I eventually plan to use a TEC on the 5950x when EK or someone else releases a variant of the Intel TEC. For now the dynamic OC on water will be quite useful and better than standard PBO.
I know exactly what its for and why i bought it. You keep making assumptions and excuses for why the board isn’t worth it. Derbauer showed why it’s a great feature and i linked the exact timestamp of why. The fact you keep downplaying it just suggests you don’t understand it or are just super...
Who said anything about it OCing like mad? The dynamic OC is actually super convenient for maintaining max performance over different workloads. You sound super salty.
I dunno I haven't used it yet (still waiting on some parts to start my new build) but seeing how der8auer thinks it's pretty nifty I think it's going to be worth it. I mean that's why you're in this thread right?
At 1440p you'll be fine with 10 gb of vram. If some weird game comes out and goes above that, just turn down a single setting to get w/in the vram limit. Not really a big deal IMO. Yes the 16 gb on 6800 XT is more attractive but then that's the trade off you make between the two brands. They...
They’re hard to come by but much much easier than big navi. Ive bought 3 ampere cards now, strix for me, 3090 to a buddy and now this evga to another. Have had zero luck with 6800 xt.
Selling 3 items:
1. EK Vector Strix 2080 Ti RGB Nickel + Plexi GPU Block --$120
2. Backplate for EK Vector Strix 2080 Ti GPU Block (black)--$30
3. EK Velocity RGB Nickel + Plexi CPU Block (Intel)--$75
The block has a bit of staining from the red dye but it's easily removed if you disassemble...
One of the guys in the brobot telegram group with me had an Amazon delivery of a 5950x and 2 pins were completely knocked off with 2 others bent. His box was in slightly worse condition than mine so it's nothing to relax about. Amazon is shipping these CPUs in crappy paper bags yet when you...
Absolutely disgusting service by Amazon:
The CPU looks okay, have to wait on my distro plate to arrive before I piece it all together and hope it didn't take any trauma.
I drove 2 hours to Central Computers in Santa Clara this morning to get one. They had 5 in stock but none left by the time i got there—lucky for me they reserved one for me. The Sunnyvale location had 25 but as soon as they opened this morning, they were down to 10 and those were bundle only...
My buddy asked me earlier yesterday to help him find parts to finish his new build. He said he’d take a 6800 xt or 3080. Well apparently 3080 isn’t that hard to come by anymore because i just got one. Couldn’t find 6800 xt anywhere though, they must by stuck somewhere in the backloading truck 😂
