Recently got a Rift S to replace my stolen OG Rift and I gotta say I like it a lot. Before I "had" to buy an S I had reservations about it because of it's specs and controllers but honestly it's pretty good. The resolution bump, as small as it is, actually makes a huge difference over the...
As a huge Panzer Dragoon fan I'm rather disappointed with the way the remake looks. To me it lacks all of the aesthetic\mood that makes the series unique. The remake's graphics and art design are bright and borderline cartoony looking. Doesn't seem right at all.
Other than that the E3...
I'm not worried if it will suck. It looks like a solid headset. I'm more concerned about the fact that this is a part that they can manufacture at a lower cost than the previous Rift and' it's existence is to replace the old SKU rather than it being a a true Rift 2. I guess that's why they are...
I read the Ars write up about this. I was hoping it would be a headset upgrade only but it includes new controllers as well.
Not sure how I feel about the lack of an AMOLED or the 80hz but it didn't seem to detract all that much from the overall experience. Twice the resolution is a nice bump...
I felt the way you did but this past August I snagged a free wireless Logitech G305 at Quakecon (as well as the wired equivalent) and I have to say the battery thing is not a problem in the slightest. To date, I've only changed out the single AA battery in the mouse once and that's considering...
The myth that the FB app hot mics and listens to everything has been disproven and Facebook themselves deny this. Though it definitely seems suspicious at times when you converse about something and suddenly see advertisements for it, there is apparently some algorithmic magic going on between...
"Dream in virtual reality", huh?
I played Super Hot VR once while waiting for some shrooms to kick in and after I took the headset off real life became a situation where time would only move if I did.
With VR, motion sickness is a very real thing. It's just a built in side effect with having your entire viewing field engulfed by the headset screen with no real world frame of reference.
About the AA games....I honestly don't think it's a thing that is tested much at all since motion sickness...
This actually puts the whole situation in better context. It's a (misguided) financial decision they are making here. They want to maximize profits on a global market place and not have to worry if game X, Y, or Z will be "controversial" in region A, B or C. Why they are choosing to censor...
This seems to me a misguided decision by Sony alone, because the PC and XBox versions are unchanged, rather than some "SJW" conspiracy.
Move along folks, there's no outrage to be found here.
I tried to argue this at work with a coworker and was met with the counter arugument: “but what if I don’t like it?”.
Got me thinking. I tried equating the “not like it” argument to things like food, or movies, or just other general things that we buy and aren’t satisfied with but it wouldn’t...
Let’s judge the first generational implementation of real time ray tracing against the decades of development with rasterized lighting techniques. Makes sense...
I dunno, part of me loves the idea that ray traced global illumination is a great representation of the real world but the other part...
"They didn’t do it because of inherent criminality, but rather because they couldn’t get the shows they wanted at a price they were prepared to pay"
Uh, isn't that the reason anyone steals? They want something but don't want to pay for it so they take it instead. I think with our current laws...
Looks very neat as a prototype. The way you can see the uneveness of the fold in the glare of light is nuts. Not only does that mean it's a plastic-like material but it's a very thin one with a good amount of slack for the hinge. Again, neat tech but as an actual product for that price it...
You're preaching to the choir about passing on the left lane.
However, passing to me does not mean you have to go 20 over the speed limit just to overtake. It also doesn't give the other driver any reason to merge into the left lane with a car occupying it no matter what speed the car in that...
Don’t have much experience as a professional software engineer (I do have limited experience) but for an API, wouldn’t you be more limited by the compiler than anything? I know if you get assembly low level then you have to code for specific hardware/architectures but is it the same for...
Foxconn knew what it was doing from the get go. It was a money grab for them from.
They scammed that town through and through. Foxconn created hype between a few candidate cities and every city made their bid to get the plant opened in their town but Foxconn was looking for the smallest town...
The podcast Reply All had a great episode about this whole Foxconn thing recently.
Foxconn really screwed that small town over. Those small town residents were promised the world and instead many lost their homes and the town is in massive debt for the next decade or more.
I haven't had a chance to play with this latest G-Sync driver but the workaround has worked for every driver I used before it. I don't update that regularly but I'm also never that behind. I would say that workaround is solid for all newer drivers.
I'll give that a try. I forgot what kind of DP cable I got but without G-Sync it is capable of running 144hz at 1440p. Maybe G-Sync/Freesync puts it over the top I guess.
Thanks for the heads up.
You're telling me. GoW4 is about the only online game I play and that crashing problem is bad.
There is a solid workaround for me though (in case you haven't tried it yet). Turn off GameDVR in Windows settings and turn off Async Compute in the GoW settings. That pretty much solved all my...
On my XG270HU, I seem to be getting black-outs when non-fullscreen elements pop in or out of a game and when surfing the internet.
Examples: The Windows 10 "Game Bar" is a window that pops up over full screen games and when this menu pops up, the screen blanks out for half a second, then when...
misterbobby is correct.
The very first thing the installer had you choose is "Driver and GeForce Experience" (default option) or "Driver only". It is only after you make a selection and hit "Agree and continue" that you get the Custom install option. The custom option will have all the check...
Installed the driver, opened up the Nvidia control panel, Windows 10 notification popped up saying my XG270HU monitor was detected as G-Sync supported, the option was enabled by default, so I then got to gaming.
Honestly it seems to work so well I can't tell the difference. I'll have to play...
Can’t wait to get home from work and try this out. Mentioned it in another thread but I have one of the 12 officially supported FreeSync monitors and I’ve never been able to utilize it until now.
I’m excited.
EDIT:
I wonder if this is a typo?
G-SYNC Compatible:
Model: Acer XG270HU...
That doesn't take a DAC out of the equation and they most certainly are not all created equally especially on cheap Android phones.
Lets get it straight, the headphone jack on it's own isn't the savior of every audiophile's issues. It's a start but definitely not the end all on audio quality...
I used to think all BT audio solutions sucked but it turned out that the iPhone 6S BT was garbage.
Once I got the XS Max, BT audio became bearable. Think it comes down to the BT protocol used by the source rather than the endpoint.
Haven't all reviews of RTX cards been "slightly less than perfect"? Far as I know every day one reviewer has knocked the RTX launch because of bad price to performance, lack of games supporting the R features of the RTX, and the terrible performance of DXR with Battlefield V.
Yeah..makes for a decent clickbait article to purposely frame their findings around ignoring the play anywhere titles.
For those that can’t afford a $1000+ PC the Xbox One X is a pretty darn competent console for the money. That’s a good enough reason there. It may not have the best exclusives...
They're sure moving fast. They're really trying to keep their revenue going for the inevitable end to the Fortnite fad.
At least they're thinking ahead and putting all that money to use.
Great video. Really pissed me off when the thieves would react like they were so inconvenienced by the glitter and the smell.
I'm curious, if this happens to you, are you basically out of luck with your purchase? Can Amazon or the carrier do anything for you at this point?
I live in an...
I wonder if the IR dot projection assists FaceID and MS Hello in detecting real eyes.
The test would probably break FaceID if the "awareness" option was turned off. (Awareness requires that your eyes be open and looking at the phone for FaceID to unlock).
I wouldn't say it's a risk on a computer monitor as it's almost a given. There's too many static elements on a desktop computer, nevermind gaming HUDs. The Windows taskbar, browser elements, etc.. Far too much static images for long periods of time.
And as someone else pointed out. OLEDs...
