I don't know what happened here, but the combination of 1080p, Cryengine, black crush (on XBone), tearing, load times, etc is simply incredible.

I have determined that my Crossover 27Q has had its EDID area scrambled somehow, it can no longer enter graphics modes (basically cause the computer to hang). Can't even enter my UEFI BIOS on account of that.
So I'm wondering a) Anyone with experience in EDID recovery, are there tools out there...
"We were probably too focused purely on console, Spencer admitted. With Steam, [Valve has] done an amazing job of building this thing that, in a lot of ways, we should have been building as well at Microsoft."

"Share your computer?
Now share your games too.
Steam Family Sharing allows close friends and family members to play one another's games while earning their own Steam achievements and saving their own game progress to the Steam cloud. It's all enabled by authorizing a shared computer. "...

EDIT: It's unclear if he's left ID or not, but a 'Bethesda Community Lead' says that "The technical leadership he provides for games in development at id Software is unaffected". If correct, I think this...
Boom.
"Like the PS3 edition, which arrived in April three years after the game's Xbox 360 release, it has enhanced graphics, reworked controls, a few extra missions, and a few bits of DLC to buy--suits mostly. New to PC are Steam achievements and trading cards, plus a "bonus" piece of DLC.

New research paper published today on PLOS One just now, that might be relevant to our interests.

I couldn't find a thread on this game, which is surprising because it's awesome.
I never played the flash version, but the steam version is just.. umm... awesome. Perfect for half an hour here or there. Responsive menus, great music (available to sample and 'pay what you want' over at...
I installed Debian 7 on my machine, and that somehow upset the delicate sensibilities of my Windows 8 installation. I'm not sure how or why, but I want to fix it.
What happens is that bootmgfw.efi kicks off and I get the black screen with a Window on. There it hangs. I assume bootmgfw is...
A closed beta starts early january.
My big disappointment here is learning it's going to be published by Ubisoft, so I assume no real steam integration. Sigh. Boggles the mind really, I thought this game was all about community interaction.
Uplay isn't even really a content delivery...
Zynga timed the layoff of 100 people with the Apple live announcements to bury it in the newsfeeds. Stay classy Zynga.
"Zynga just laid off 100+ employees (incl. my friends) in its Austin office during the Apple Event. Gave them 2 hours to vacate. RT please." --...
A new graphical adventure from the creators of Gemini Rue. Low resolution and bad voice work aside, it seems to have a good story.
GB:QL.
One can buy it from wadjet eye for $10 and get a Steam key, but it's not searchable on steam yet (late july I think they said).
I'm a bit miffed that...

" * If players already own the PC versions of Valve games, they’ll get Mac versions at no extra charge through a feature called Steam Play.
* By using the Steam Cloud feature that the company introduced in 2008, players can save in-progress games online, then call up those saved games...
My Gigabyte ATI 4870 was showing pixel artifacts (intermittent flashing of green, magenta) during boot today, which I guess is either due to damaged memory or the cooling. I hear the fan boost for a second when booting (as is usual) but when I get into Windows I can't get the fan to react to any...
TellTale are doing new Monkey Island games. Might be more up my alley even though the Sam'n'Maxes were okay.
That and also Gilbert's notes from a recent playthrough of the original at Grumpy Gamer.
(There's also the console remake of the original, but I dunno... feels a bit too much like...
I bought myself one of these to have as a media "laptop" at home. Review /w pics here. There are certainly cheaper models that would get the job done, but what drew me to this one was HDMI, eSATA, come with 64bit Vista and supports 8GB of memory, bluray and the fact that it's based on Centrino 2...
So, I was researching this Powercolor 4870 1GB PCS when I stumbled on this article which details how the card is completely unable to survive Furmark, even on stock frequencies. A Powercolor rep. called it a 'software compatibility issue'. Yeah, right.
Let's see what happened a bit later...
Another "Most of you know that we covet the “real world” stuff." that doesn't touch on Via's hardware encryption instructions. And by 'touch' I mean benchmark it against the competition.
Is it that it's not considered relevant 'real world stuff' (secret key generation, SSH, SSL...
So I've tried the PS3 demo just now, and it looks good, but I don't think I can EVER get over how retarded it is to have to play with the controller when I have a perfectly good keyboard and mouse sitting right there. Yes, I tried it, both mouse and keyboard plugged in, did diddly-squat.
I...
I want to build a linux server based on an EPIA board (the EN15000 is a likely candidate), but I haven't been able to locate any good integer/mem performance benchmarks. I have an old K6-2 @ 400MHz today that the setup would have to be competitive with. I'm looking for someone that could tell me...
The new version just came out, and the multithreading seems great. I went from 33x to 48x encode speed from the previous version to the new one.

I was just about to fit the last card into the box... when I realize that whoever routed the MB put the chipset + sink just close enough to two of the three PCI slots that you can't fit anything but a "short" card into them!
Well, what's the problem then? Well, the bundle from the PSU comes...
