My Tracers are spec'd @ 2.2 and I have them running 2.0 currently. I bought this board w/ the hopes it would cooperate w/ 4 stix as well as its little brother the IP35 Pro. Good to hear from more users that I'm not just getting lucky over here.
I'm still waiting for the reviews to come...
Love it. Stable as fu*k. Even w/ 4 stix of mem and almost no tweaking, have my e6400 over 3.3 fully stable w/ barely a bump over stock volts.
Original BIOS has been great so far. Not a single reason for me to update it yet...
It runs hotter than the IP35 Pro, so dont be suprised if temps are...
Obviously if poeple are commenting on the entire year's worth of threads covering this, its surely not isolated to SP1. Its been around since the first day of release.
I'm having great luck w/ BIOS 11, but reading some other site's forums, many people opted to go with the 12-beta right away. I also see a lot of those people having little problems here and there running that beta... i dont know.
I was never much of one for beta BIOS's unless i was...
More evidence that an RMA wont help you...

My Abit IX38 is running flawlessly w/ 4 x 1gb Tracers and with a nice OC. With all the Asus bellyaches posted here in the last 6 months, I just dont get how Asus boards even make it on people's lists...
Ryck, Abit sucks at making certain files visible to users. Here's a link:
BIOS ID:11
1. Enhanced the S3 compatibility.
2. Enhanced USB keyboard and Mouse compatibility.
3. Correct the CPU/DRAM Voltage function.
4. BIOS compiled date: 10/11/2007.
I guess some boards shipped w/ BIOS...
With 4 stix or ram?! I highly doubt it. I'd probably prefer to keep undervolting my D9 chips vs overvolting them trying to get 500 stable.Although they are rated to hit that...
I may get jiggy with it and take a couple stix out just to prove a point after Abit releases another official BIOS...
Damn! Those reviews really came rolling in on Newegg today for this thing! Wrote my own as well. I think those guys w/ the Raptors just had bad luck. I guess buying Western Digital drives, you get that anyway :o (Seagate 4 LIFE)
I'm still shocked how many people buy Asus boards. I used to love their stuff but I swear lately they are using the budget AsRock parts in their line-up. The amount of unaceptable problems I see from people is ridiculous. Nothing worse than memory banks on your board that are just for...
The P35 Gigabytes have been known to handle 4 stix fairly well. I'm not a fan of buggy Asus boards.
I just threw my rig onto an Abit IX38 w/ 4 stix of ram, and they are even overclocked pretty high. Fully stable. I read the IP35 Pro can handle the same quite easilly too...
HAHA, if you only knew...thats why the pics were taken on the corner of the desk up top, if I had taken pics below where the box actually sits, you would have seen the minefield of chaos surrounding my work area.
The crime scene was definitely staged before leaving the body...:o
This weekend I copped a new Abit IX38 motherboard and 4 x 1GB of Ballistix Tracers. This replaced my insanely flaky Gigabyte 650i-DS4 and 2 x 1GB of Corsair XMS w/ the Knight-Rider LEDs that were failing memtest horribly.
First impressions of the board? WOW. Build quality, BIOS, features...
My office is in a loft that overlooks my main living area. It shares a slanted ceiling over the whole floor plan. My thermostat is set for 70, the real temp is +5-7 over that up here always. All the heat from your other 2 floors is rising into that 3rd one you're on i bet.
I felt my temps...
Those Ballistix should hit 400 easy with the right volts. What do you have them set at? I'm running mine 413 on just 2.0 currently on my first night of playing with them.
I also have a ThermalRight cooler on my e6400. Its the SI-128. My idle temps are roughly the same as yours and its...
Just me, but I would take the cooler off and reseat it first. Doing this also lets you look for yourself what kind of contact you are currently making. If you dont, you only assume. When I get a new cooler I usually do this, as some cooler bases are not as flat as they seem when they're being...
Sorry, I'm not gonna put all your ducks in a row....BUT
Any stix that start w/ a CAS:4 are gonna be a bit noticeably faster faster than any that start w/ a 5.
(IE: 4-4-4-12 is faster than 5-5-5-15)
As another example, my Ballistix memory is rated 4-4-4-12 @ 800, BUT I can relax those timings...
GigaByte hides their important BIOS options... (I know, kind of retarded)
Once you are in the BIOS, hit CTRL + F1. You should see a new menu entry called M.I.T.

I just bought some Ballistix Tracers, and I just ditched my GB 650i mobo for this new IX38.
The...
"Why didn't they test the GTX?!" Did you or Newster even bother to READ the review or did you just look at pretty graphs?!
Quoted directly:
"We don’t have an 8800GTX on hand in the lab at the moment and hunting one down has become next to impossible with no one having...
My order hit me in the mail today, thats practically next day service via the USPS. I'm impressed. It shipped from Forest Park Illinois BTW. I'm Just north of Milwaukee so it barely had to make a trip. Buy.com just won a new regular customer w/ service like this.
My IX38 arrives tomorrow too...
I was real close to pulling the trigger on that DS4, but as I posted in another thread, I saw Newegg only had a 30-day replacement policy for it vs the 1-year policy on some other boards. Put a bad taste in my mouth considering I'm rockin a GigaByte 650i DS4 right now that went sour and GB all...
Whats w/ all the warnings I see about flashing the BIOS under Windows? Does Abit's flash utility suck bad or what?
I've grown accustomed to using the Gigabyte version of this and ditched my floppy drive after years of non use.
Whats with Newegg's return policy now on many of their popular motherboards?
While deciding on which mobo to get, I initially looked at only P35s due to their maturity and cost. Then I started realizing that of the 5 or so Gigabyte flavors of P35, some had only a limited 30-day replacement...
I know u dont wanna hear it OG, but yeah, i went w/ the free shipping...
Bout time to give them a call about your order. Talk to a live person.
I was still trying to make up my mind on what board to buy, and that comment there might have just sold me!
I sure do miss my IC7-G :o If Abit is back like that, I'm ready to drink the Kool-Aid.
I used GC and bought 2 pairs myself. My pretty LED Corsairs just started failing in memtest...
4Gb w/ epilepsy lights for $89 shipped? Plus a free 12 month subscription to Maxim?
Thats a Cyber Monday deal 4 real :D
I own this board and its the buggiest POS mobo I have ever owned. To think I sold my 965 DS3 for this is painful. I think ALL nvidia 775 chipsets are garbage compared to their Intel counterpart.
I went from fully stable to constant crashes. They were both GB mobo's, same hardware attached...
My video card is over a year old thanx, i didn't even buy an 8800GT
Maybe you should re-read the post and acquire the hypothetical context of it.
I have to find a detailed pic yet of that situation. I checked the clearance from my 1900XT to the mobo and its not even an inch. I'm sure on some cards you could MAYBE fit the header and cable up under there... but I wont just assume it until I see.
Anyways, you're tellin me this is the best...
yeah, i read about that date after i posted that. great news to me! I was unaware b4...
with the short supply of 8800GT's and their popularity, i feared nVidia would possibly hold off on supplying retailers with the GTS.
lets just hope thats not a paper date.
yeah, they've proven that with the last dozen product cycles or so!
it bothers me too, as I feel they have the best warranty service out there pretty much.
You know nVidia is gonna release the GTS earlier than planned anyway now that ATi proved there are other fish in the sea. I dont think it will be long. I'm waiting myself and you should too. Buyers remorse sux. Hedge your bets and make your play when all the cards are on the table. Video cards...
I hate reference design video cards that differ only in cooler sticker between brands. When a new card hits, I always wait a month or two until companies like GigaByte and others release "cool" and more refined versions of the same card. They usally negate the need for purchasing a 3rd-party...
