Attaching XP-120 to mobo makes it curved

hehe, what I meant was once the HS is snapped into place... nst6563, yea, I can't screw down all sides... though I could, but that would probably snap it... my comp has been on for > month (and it's idling at around 29C)... so that's why I don't want to "fix" anything if it can just go on...

Attaching XP-120 to mobo makes it curved

It's not the weight of the HS that's the issue... 120 is relatively light. It's just that once I tighten the HS to the MB (and it fits very nicely), it bends the MB concave a little... my question was if bending is really a problem or not. Thanks! -Jazz

Attaching XP-120 to mobo makes it curved

Hi all, After I attached xp-120 to my X2 4800 on Asus-a8n sli mobo, the mobo is not flat anymore.... XP-120 kinda made it a little concave... so I can't really it in to the case at all of the points it's supposed to be screwed in (especially near the cpu area). I didn't try to force it in...

    NO Fan Ok?

I have a P180 as well and have two 74G Raptors and a 320G Caviar down there. If you put your HD in the lower chamber, you don't have to worry much. The way it's designed, the PSU will pull air from the the front intake, in process cooling the HD's you install down there. Of course, you gotta...

    2x 74G Raptor and 1 x 320G Caviar question

Hi all, I connected all three drives to the nVidia SATA connectors of A8N SLI Premium mb. The two Raptors were connected to first two SATA slots (Sata 1 and Sata 2). The Caviar was connected to Sata 3. Sata 4 slot was left untouched. In the BIOS, I setup the onboard NVRAID for the...

    Updating A8N SLI Premium bios

Thanks for all your responses. I have flashed from floppy before, so I guess I could stick with it. And it's true floppys are unreliable... that's why I verify it's read/write intergrity beforehand (i.e., after saving the bin file on the floppy, I copy it back over to the HD... if it can do...

Bad places to buy a motherboard

First, they sent me an opened motherboard and an open HD. The mobo was open because the manual was roughed up, some packets that contained wires were torn open and there were a lot of components that weren't in packets. And the motherboard didn't work. So I RMA'd... and after 10 days, they...

Bad places to buy a motherboard

Well, I wrote my experiences. I'm not trying to mislead anybody. And I know they got "9.36 out of 10 and Dell got less than 5" ... that's embedded in my brain because they kept repeating it while putting me on hold for hour or more each time I tried contacting them. Maybe they used to be...

Bad places to buy a motherboard

Instead of having people suffer in the future, let's list the places where you should NOT get your motherboard (or other critical components like CPU, HD, Memory). I'll start: Place: MonarchComputer.com Reason not to shop: They often send you open items and in case of motherboards...

    Updating A8N SLI Premium bios

I want to update the bios. But I don't want to lose my settings (especially cause I got RAID... and I don't feel comfy messing around again with it...). When I try to use Asus update utility in Win XP, there's a checkbox that says: "Clear CMOS checksum to load default BIOS setting". What is...

    Monarch A0110289 (H8DCE) Socket940 SLI motherboard

Please do not order motherboards or hard drives from Monarch computers... Since they're also into building computers, many times you receive open items (many times pulled from a system, and many times returned by other customers) ... this is especially bad for motherboards and HD's. I...

Onboard has 7.1, my speakers are 5.1

Hi all, The title basically says it. I've got an Asus A8N-SLI Premium mobo and it has 7.1 audio output (and so, I skipped buying a sound card... plus I'm broke after getting AMD 4800). I've got Logitech x-530 5.1 speakers. I've connected the center/sub speakers to the 'center/sub' jack...

fans stay on during standby..... ????

Hi all, First off, until two days ago, whenver I put my computer into standby, everything stopped spinning... but now the fans stay on and keep making a racket.... :( The only thing I did since then was that I enabled cool 'n' quiet feature in the bios. Anyone heard of this issue? Is...

Intel rushed dual processor to market

LOL!!! It's not surprising, given how the product performs in comparison with X2. But it's surprising that Intel came out and admitted this. But I think Intel did this whole thing on purpose. They have a much bigger motive in mind. They now have something to counter the AMD antitrust...

To all those who are complaining about lack of good instructions on setting it up... have you heard of Google? I'm a total n00b... How to prevent dust/dirt from being sucked into the case?

My Antec p180 is really sweet and neat, but I fear the day when it's gonna be full of that dust... almost like a layer of lint you get in your clothes dryer... and it's gonna make it look ugly when all the tiny openings (like around the cd/floppy drives, front intake vents, etc) get choke full...

Case surface has slight current flowing

Update: The current on the surface has somehow disappeared... I started this thread when I felt the current a few hours back... but then, my computer was off (psu on, but comp/mobo off) all night. Since then, I've turned the comp on and it's been like that for a while, and the current has...

Using room a/c to cool the computer

As I mentioned, my PC cools self-sufficiently already... and a/c cooling is not critical at all... it's just so that the cpu fan can stop over-rev ving / creating noise when under heavy load. So if the ac turns off, no harm done. Thanks ya'll for your help!!! I guess condensation wouldn't...
