Quick question regarding PCIe slots on various boards...

... bump ... Will the eVGA board in question work with ECC memory modules? (I don't necessarily need ECC to function, but it would be nice to use some ECC memory I already own instead of having to buy new)

Quick question regarding PCIe slots on various boards...

Thanks for the clarification, folks! One more question and I think I'm sold... Will the eVGA board work with ECC memory modules?

Quick question regarding PCIe slots on various boards...

Regarding the eVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1... According to the manual it only supports maximum of 4GB of RAM (four slots, 1GB max per slot)? "Hello, 2007? This is 2003. We'd like our motherboard back!" I can't believe that's the maximum... I have four 4GB DDR2 modules here I was planning to use...

Quick question regarding PCIe slots on various boards...

Last year I built out a new system with dual 8800GTX cards for SLI-use. Everything is great, but my intention was always to upgrade motherboard and CPU sometime this summer. Now the time has arrived, but I have a question regarding these PCIe slots that these boards have... Basically, I have...

    nVidia Class Action Lawsuit

It's truly sad how many people are calling this "stupid"... It needs to be done. Nvidia has flat-out misled people as to the compatibility between the G80 and Vista. The drivers are completely beta at this point -- not just SLI. I think these folks are complete justified. If the lawsuit gets...

Where are my NVIDIA Drivers for Vista?

This sucks... I just bought two 8800GTX cards. I bought a new case. I bought a new motherboard. I bought a new power supply. I bought Vista. I was getting really jazzed up about the eye candy in Vista. I'd been running the MSDN version for a bit and liked what I saw. Now...

Please help me identify this case/part... (old school [H], big pics)

Found it! One of the other posters was correct -- it was a Lite-On case, not Lian-Li. The model number was FS020. I was very close, but couldn't quite get it right. :) Still looking for the drive/bay rails though... :(

Please help me identify this case/part... (old school [H], big pics)

Folks, I have this fairly old ATX chassis here I wish to put back into service after several years of non-use. It's very large, and I need this space for my 8800GTX cards coming in as well as the water-cooling I am about to try out. As you will see in the big pic below, it's old school [H]...

    X2 4400+ 1.248V????

Without CnQ enabled, I was at 1.26v in CPU-Z on my Shuttle SN25P with 4400+. With CnQ, I've seen it hit 1.05v... I could not be happier with the X2.

Issue I have with the reviews of Dual core chips....

Don't know about you, but on my X2 4400+ and 7800GTX setup, BF2 plays MUCH better than when XP is run with the /onecpu switch in the boot.ini (forces XP to use uniprocessor kernel). The difference in framerates was noticable, since all the other threads were not held up by the game.

Athlon X2 and SN25P Overclocks... What are you getting?

What settings in the BIOS for this? I'd like to know what you changed across the board so I can try and do the same... thanks!

Shuttle SN25P small form factor system Athlon64 X2 4400+ (stock speed, 2.2GHz) 2GB of OCZ Platinum memory at 2-3-2-5 1T timings Ran the test four times: 35-36 seconds

Important info for SN25P users with X2 processors...

We've been tracking this problem down in another forum (forums.sudhian.com) and I thought I'd come and share our findings with the Hard crowd. A number of people with X2's have noticed that the SN25P tends to freeze a lot, in a totally random way. It's been really frustrating but now we have...

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Here I was thinking my memory was "bad", when in fact -- after reading around -- manfacturers want you to bump the voltage in order to achieve their high-speed latencies. That's kind of weird, IMO. I am now debating returning the Patriot memory... at 2.8, this thing has been perfectly stable...

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

BTW... I did some memtest86 action on this Patriot garbage... tons of errors. So, taking another poster's advice, I upped the voltage on these modules to 2.8V and am running 2-3-2-5 1T for the last 20 minutes or so. Usually the thing would have blown up by now. I'm not sold that it's 100%...

    7800GTX in an SN25P

Well, it seems like I've been bitten by the Patriot as well. My system does the same type of shit. BSOD at random, freezes -- shit, I could barely INSTALL WinXP. It took about ten tries before it finally "took"... and that was after I bumped memory timings manually all way way back! (something...

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Four bluescreens since my last post... This SN25P is the dodgiest piece of shit I've ever used. (at least it reboots in about 20 seconds)

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Yes, I got the PDP 2-3-2-5 memory. CPU-Z shows it as 2-3-2-5 and everything seems fine now... but I still get random lock ups or BSOD's. I've got AMD Cool'n'Quiet going and have verified with nTune/CPU-Z that it's working as expected. Current CPU temp is 27C, system temp is 43C, GPU is 57C...

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Tried different NVRAID drivers from NVIDIA. That seemed to solve the problem. Install was SCREAMING... got to "Saving settings" about 90% and then whammo! BSOD! Next try... got to network configuration... BSOD! What the fuck is with this goddamn thing? How can Shuttle sell this and get...

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Spoke to soon... Now I get to the XP installer... and it tells me "39 minutes to go!" and it just sits there. Forever. The animation still goes, and the little Windows XP "slide show" changes... but it's stuck at 39 minutes... What kind of shit is this?

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Okay... get this... I flashed to the latest bios (revision "O") and now there doesn't seem to be anything strange at all. Only problem is that the automatic memory timings are not quite right for the low-latency RAM I have... but I will address that later.

New SN25P... RAID setup is kicking my posterior...

Okay... after finally getting to this point... Two questions... 1) When I go to partition my RAID set, how come Windows Setup thinks it's the "F" drive? 2) When I press F6 and load the WinXP RAID drivers, when it gets to the point where it wants to install Windows, it asks me to insert...

Which XPCs support AMD's dual-core CPUs?

    Shuttle has said the SN25P and ST20G5 will support the X2... some may need a BIOS update, however. http://global.shuttle.com/ADVNews/NewsDetail.asp?CTID={A69AC49F-B90C-445E-A412-560BA5F2A03D}

Anyone thought about overclocking the X2? Wonder how far they'll go..

Where is a good primer on overclocking these modern systems? Got a link? :) I just bought an SN25P system with an X2 4400+. Last I did overclocking was in the days of the Celeron 300A -> 450 by changing the FSB from 66Mhz to 100Mhz.

    X2: 4400+ vs 4600+

Newegg has two 4400+'s left in stock... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103546 I ordered mine this afternoon. Their listing was originally screwed up stating that it was a Socket 754 single-core 4400+ chip with 2x1MB cache... whatever the hell that was. But the...

Possible 4400 X2 in Stock at Newegg...PLZ Confirm

Well, that's the 4400+ X2! Their listing is jacked. The part numbers confirm it and I called Newegg and got the scoop. Their listing was entered wrong. They have four in stock (after my order, they now have three in stock). Once I placed the order, my receipt says the correct product (4400+...

Dual Xeons: HT on or off?

Back when I used to buy Intel chips for servers, we had to disable HyperThreading for server use. It was causing SQL Server to really screw the pooch. The query plans were dramatically different for 4-way and 8-way. Since they were not real CPU's, it was really giving us headaches.

Building an SN25P rig... first new system in years. School me, please!

Gotcha. Yeah, I read Kyle's review on x64 gaming and saw that note about Spliter Cell installing but simply not running due to some stupid OS detection error. Myself, I don't play many games. This is more from a workstation standpoint. Like I said, I do a lot of 24/96 audio editing. Mostly I...

Building an SN25P rig... first new system in years. School me, please!

Interesting to hear you say that... I'm about halfway done in a large Server 2003 x64 deployment at work. Last year I bought a dozen quad Opterons with this intent. I've installed x64 on almost all of them and have not had any difficulty with drivers. I also have a smaller Athlon64 3000 system...

    7800GTX in an SN25P

Well, I just made another post about building a new system with the SN25P and you may have a question and scared me a bit with a statement... (First, I think, regarding that cap, you could drill out a little hole for it in the duct... just the perfect size for the end of the cap.) I was...

Building an SN25P rig... first new system in years. School me, please!

It's been a long time since I've been into this hobby. The last rig I built was an Abit BP6 dual Celeron job in '99. However, now that I'm getting interested in games again as well as doing a lot of work with 24/96 audio editing, my daily-use laptop just isn't cutting it anymore. I think the...

    7800GTX in an SN25P

I just recently registered as this is the type of system I am about to buy. I am still debating waiting for the R520 or just getting the 7800GTX... anyway, that's not why I replied. That plastic duct looks like it's made of plastic. I would be tempted to use a Dremmel to simply sand down...
