Ahh Ok.. my first day using Vista.. haven't used it before.. But I do know what you're talking about. I definitely need to learn how to disable that. I'll find it.
Just wanted to thank you guys for all the suggestions.. you have provided much more than the nvidia forums and guru3d combined. I did try the safe mode approach this morning but it got stuck on loading up whatever files it required for safe mode. From there I gave up because I was preparing for...
Hey all,
Yesterday I freshly installed Vista 64 after piecing together my new box. Heres my issue.
After install everything was perfect. I realized that Vista was using its own outdated drivers for my EVGA 8800GTS 640mb card. I went to the evga site for some more recent drivers (Not sure...
I was hoping to hear something like that as I've been reading HOCP forever and I have always trolled the forms. I'm by far not a huge hardware guy but I *think* I understand enough of reading these forums and reviews that I could piece something pretty good together that most people will just...
Ahh thanks for all the input enginurd. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I'll most likely try swapping out either the Tuniq's fan or the case's fan.
I'll be sure to contribute to this thread once I get it up and running. In all honesty my expectation isn't high only because I've been using a 15" laptop for 2 years now. I had given up my gaming rig awhile back in which I was using a CRT. After enough research though, I went with the CW...
Am I putting the S-Flex over the HSF? Considering the Tuniq Tower is a HSF.. how could i go about mounting it right over?
***EDIT**
Didn't realize till earlier that the Tuniq came with its own fan... Hmm what to do with the S-Flex? Find a way to mount it over the heatsink/fan to blow out more...
Yah so, I won't lie.. I went out to best buy and picked up a 226CW yesterday. Cost me $415 or so after tax and everything.
Well over my budget but its ok.
Thank you random. I was also assuming that if I went with a 24" I would have to also upgrade my 8800GTS 640mb to a GTX or Ultra to make up for the resolution difference?
I all honesty I didn't want to spend more than $300 on an LCD, but I went out and paid $415 or so after tax and everything...
AHH damn... on the Cheaper Cudas... :(
I honestly didn't know which S-Flex to get. I kinda played duck duck goose.
Not to mention, I don't even know where to put the S-Flex.. I'll figure it out I guess. Now I just need a gaming LCD to go with it.. especially under 24"...
I'm deciding if I want to go pick this up for my new build today. I'm not sure what to get for a 22" lcd and for my newly built gaming rig. I really can't afford the dell 24" and I don't know if I want to slip into the 20"..
Basically this is a OVER Budget - Midrange Gaming box. Yes I realize I got the E6750 a little over priced, but it was available. What do you guys think? I'm also going to Raid 0 the 250GB drives as I already have 3x 500GB external drives for all my important stuff. I'm also thinking about...
If you can afford to go Quad Core, I would. That would definitely be your best bang for the buck. Same applies to encoding and such. Multithreading actually helps in this case. Yes it is nearly $100 more. So you might want to check your budget.
I'd consider the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R for a...
Am I missing anything? Do I need more fans? Paste or anything?
Antec SUPER LANBOY $76.00
ViewSonic VX922 Black/Silver 19" $399
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI $209.00
eVGA 256-P2-N517-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB $349.00...
why do I get the feeling they're like value/budget ram? What is it that I should be looking for in ram? I generally always used to buy Corsair XMS for all my boxes. Granted I didn't OC.. but I guess I'm just clueless as to what to look for in truely great performance.
So I'm piecing out my new box.. can anyone make any suggestions as to what memory would be best for this build?
DFI Expert
OCZ PS 520
Opty 170
I'm looking at OCZ and G.Skill, what speeds and timings should I be looking at? Also for cooling, would it be ok to go with a smaller case? I'm...
You're asking in the CPU forums.. this will surely pull all the OCers to you. If you're not looking to OC you might want to steer away from the route of Opteron....170s ;)
I'm having the same issue. I'm upgrading and have a $1500-$1800 budget. This includes Monitor/LCD.
So.. Originally I...
The DFI expert worth the $200? :// I had priced out a box for about $1650 or so.. now with the opty 170 route everything is coming to like $1900-2000 or so with the LCD Of choice.
I know I"ll kick myself in the ass if I don't do go with this. I'm just trying to justify spending another $350 :(
The panaflos are 90mm fans, where would I be mounting these to provide fan cooling? Just normally around the case? or would I be screwing this is in on one of the blocks or something?
I was looking at the Zalman CNPS9500.. would this be enough for just a good air cooling solution.. then again...
With all the cooling needed in the case and outside of the case.. this just doesn't seem the right path for me :( I'd have to spend an extra $100-200 on Fans and a Heatsink.
Actually I see people using the XP-90 or 120.. what else do I need with these heatsinks?
Btw, I hate you all just for trying to convince me to go this route ;)
Truth is.. I've never overclocked anything. I have a general understanding of how the FSB and what not work. I'm still trying to understand the HTT and what not. Still reading up on what I need to do in order to get this...
the x2 3800+ only has a 512k cache no? and its a slower core..Atleast for gaming this wouldn't be the better solution, wouldn't the single core at 2.4ghz with 1mb cache prove to be better?
Without any proven stable setups, it just doesn't seem right. besides the 170 is $400 and the 4000+ is $334.. and I really won't have to worry about OCing.. doing more research. Locating the proper cooling, the proper MB, proper RAM.. etc etc..
I'm interested in this route.. only because I'm building a whole new box from the ground up.
Was looking to go the simple cookie cutter build of:
s939 4000+ SD core.
A8N-SLI Deluxe
2GB of Corsair XMS (2x1GB) 3200C2PT Ram
Antec Lan Boy case
Antec SP-500 PS
eVGA N517 7800 GT 256...
How are these chips in comparison to the 939 4000+ and the dual core A64s?
I'm not too fimiliar with he Optis outside of a server enviornment.
I'm curious if I should stick to my 4000+ route or head down this 170 route.
I know this was a server issue.. this has to do with the map rotation.
But my issue wasn't the same.. I was on Vent with about 10 guys who were playing on the same server and I would be the only one who would randomly crash out.
I guess i'm forced to reinstall ! =(
Just recently (last week) I purchased a PNY 128mb 6800NU and an extra 512mb of ram (totaling me out to 1gig).
I had upgraded from a 9600 Pro to a 6800NU for the sake of playing BF2 with better FPS.
I installed the 6800NU, played some CS:S. Yesterday I installed BF2, had some artifacts with...
I started with Final Fantasy 1 on NES.. Played Ultima Quest of the Avatar on NES (LOVED IT)
FF2 and 3 on SNES were awesome games. Not a fan of the later ones.
Later played Ultima 7...
Those two series (because they have atleast 3 titles each) have the most games under the name that...
