Alright, a little update. I had to scrap the P4, it couldn't handle multiple ESPN3 streams. I ended up using my work M4600 laptop and another spare Latitude I had. Anyways here is what it looked like at the end.
Things I learned last night...
My old gaming rig sucks compared to my Precision M4600 laptop.
My wife sole the nice monitor and gave me the one that is very warm in color.
And thats about it.
It was the first time I had turned on my old computer since 2008 and amazingly everything fired up...
So I got this grand idea to attempt to build the perfect bowl game setup in my basement this holiday season. My wife has given me a $200 limit to do this.
Equipment I already have:
(1) Dell 2405WFP monitor
(1) Sharp 32" 720p TV
(1) Circa 2005 gaming rig
(1) Unfinished 800 sq basement at...
I can't keep doing this, a few days ago I got a couple games for under $10 now I have a total of $25 in my basket who knows what tomorrow will be.... I think this is their plan.
I have a Dell laptop hooked up via HDMI to a Phillips tv in my office and I cannot for the life of me get the audio to work. When I move the laptop to a different tv it works fine, also when I hook something else up via HDMI to that Phillips tv it works fine.
I have tried paying around with...
Very true. I was actually surprised that I was able to setup the DD-WRT router to be a client bridge in the first place because according to the FAQ page my firmware release breaks that support.
Anyways I got it all setup and running, now I am just tweaking the QOS classifications for the...
Long and the short of it is I use to have a Netgear N router and I bricked it (it sucked anyways). So I am back to two Linksys WRT-54G's (One is a V1 the other is a V5). My primary router (the V1) is running Tomato firmware, the second that is going to be the bridge (the V5) is running DD-WRT...
I am finally setting up my home office again and have a Dell 2405FPW that I use to use and would like to again but since it does not match anything Dell currently has (as far as esthetics's are concerned) I am going to be looking on ebay for possibly a 17inch monitor to have in portrait mode...
Thats what I figured but for some reason I thought it was a 4 speed, and it was bouncing off of I think 7,000 RPMS almost like a governor. Anyways it was strange especially with that red light flashing too.
Sorry guys for this stupid question but I just picked up GT4 again last night after not paying for about 5 months or so. Anyways I am trying to get a car that fit a few criteria for upcoming races and settled on a Mustang Mack 1 from 1971. Anyways on the first race it will not shift out of 3rd...
The end of the line for me with Comcast was when I was paying for the top package had all the movie channels and what not and the fastest internet and was playing around $200 a month and one day I had some issue where I couldn't get ESPN anymore so I call up tech support and after a 4 hour go...
Well thought I would give everyone an update.
I did the rest of the job this weekend. He picked up a Dell Inspiron desktop that had a Core 2 Duo with 6 gigs of ram. I would have preferred Win7Pro but they got Home Premium, I got all the important documents copied over to the "server" setup all...
The reason that I would like to have a server (actually just a decently spec'ed workstation) is in-case this happens again the workstations would pretty much be plug and play with the server (just add the shares and go). What we are trying to do is get away from what we had before. Also the...
I would agree with you about the specs for the server, but look at the damn Avimark hardware requirements..
http://www.avimark.net/gtka/hardware-requirements
Crazy!
BTW that program WAS running on a 1 Ghz computer with 512mb of RAM...
As for the internet, they have had problems with...
Ok, I was contacted by my Vet's office because they had a "serious computer problem." I have spoken with him in the past about upgrading some of his hardware (I use to do IT work but now are an HR Manager).
This is how they had it setup:
Computer 1:
Ran Quickbooks
Hosted Avimark software...
Its never to early to be looking at the Dell Outlet for prices to see if you are actually getting a good deal.
True, but to the person that recommended the Vostro, wouldnt the Studio XPS and regular XPS be better that I was talking about? Also I have been looking at a refurb XPS 630 that...
So after a few year hiatus of not computer gaming much (only on my laptop with an Nvidia 9500m not bad but cant play any new games) I decided to look into building a new gaming rig since my old "gaming" rig is a P4 3ghz with a gig of ram and an Nvidia 7900GS.
So I put some numbers together on...
This is possibly the worst list ever. Like another post said my wife considers me a geek but according to that list I'm not. I like sports, I don't have a lot of hand me down gadgets, I HATE fixing other peoples computers, etc.
Every time I go into that store it reminds me why I never buy anything at those stores anymore. I am not a hardcore console gamer so I probably only pick up a new PS3 game about twice a year (usually NCAA Football and some other random game). Anyways I wanted to get back into the NFS series and...
I am having a dilemma right now with my PS3 and PC. My PC is not good enough to run BC2, but I suck at FPS on the console, basically the only thing I use the console for are sports games and racing games and a little GTAIV (but still cant aim worth shirt). So now I have to figure out if I want...
I am not that familiar with packet sniffing, but are you able to see plain text IM conversations with a program like wireshark?
Also YeOldeStonecat, we don't need something that flashy as we can monitor everything else besides IM conversations.
Thanks for the advice though!
We have received orders from the managing parter to start monitoring a specific employees internet behavior (most notably email and IM usage), and this also complies with our technology manual that each employee signs that all activities on a work computer or on the work network can be...
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I have a question.
I have a similar setup as the OP and have been toying with the idea of a PFSense box. Is it really needed for home use?
Well I thought I would give you a little update on my WNDR7300. I installed it as soon as I got home and did some speed tests before and after the upgrade. My home setup before the upgrade was Moto Surfboard cable modem (sorry forgot the model) to an old Linksys WRT54G v2 that is running Tomato...
Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 was the last manual I remember being worth a damn....
Oh and my all time favorite is when the game tells you that the CD Key is printed inside the front page of the manual when in actuality its on the back cover.
My question is how is my GeForce 9500M going to stand up? My guess is not at all... hence why I will not be purchasing the game.. that and no demo to see how it will run on my system.
Yes I am sorry I mispoke myself, I meant to say demo.
I will not purchase this game without a demo on PC. I find that almost 80% of my game purchasing now is due to playing the demo.
So no one things that we are going to get a demo for PC?
Does anyone know if after the game is released they will do an open beta? I would really like to try this game out before I purchase it to see how it does on my hardware.
We are considering getting a Barracuda 100 because GFI is causing all sorts of issues on our Exchange server and wanted to come here and confer with you to see if this would be a good solution?
Thanks!
Thanks for the info, its not a lot of systems 13 at most that is why I think the VLC's are so expensive its because we are not getting that many. Dell barely even wanted to talk to us with that few of licences.
We want to upgrade out work computers from Win XP Pro to Win 7 Pro. We have requested some volume license quotes from places like Dell and our local IT consultants and each has been over $300, I look on Newegg today and see that the full retail version of Win7 Pro is $274...
