Aluminum and copper in the same loop...

Sorry to say, but this is just a typical forum answer. Do you have anything substancial to add to the topic?

Aluminum and copper in the same loop...

I'm sorry but I disagree. High flow systems are just a way of implementing a watercooling solution, not the objective itself. Head on to this website and read this review:http://www.cooling-masters.com/articles-26-0.html Here you can see that the MCW-6000 reaches the same "performance" as...

    Question for experienced Watercoolers

That's why you use a Apogee GTX waterblock, right?

    Aqua Computer or Dtek

It's not my project. The main purpose of the user was to watercool without physical changes (mods) to the Lian Li case. He had only one loop, the Aquatube drained to the Aquabox. From what i followed, this user added more blocks, radiators and "gadgets", until he had 4 rads (1A Cooling 5/12...

    Aqua Computer or Dtek

Well, as you can see fron the pic below, (extracted from this review: "Overclocking Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800" from:http://www.nordichardware.com/Reviews/?page=1&skrivelse=487 and it's in English) watercooling isn't the best method to use if you want a OC world record and it has nothing to do...

Koolance: Shady PR aimed at HWLabs

Koolance deserves the beating they've had. It's a cynical piece of writing. On the other hand, some users bad mouth Koolance for using cooper and aluminum in their kits, but take a look around you: so does Aqua Computer, and more recently Swiftech (Apogee GTX and the new GPU waterblock to be...

    Apogee - first impressions

What? Bio have you ever seen a NexXos block? They have G1/4 threads much like the Storm and you can put any kind of fittings to suit your needs (be it 3/8 or 1/2).

Quiet Pump - Swiftech vs Dangerden ?

In my opinion the Laing DDC is the single best option when you're considering noise/features aspect and works great in 3/8" loops and 1/4" loops aswell. The Eheim's are old-fashion pumps, like bricks (wasted space), lots of volume but very little head, EMI interference which implies spending...

Who would like Cathar to design a water block GPU

Yes, a good idea, although Hydrocool already has something similar called HydroTEC. Hydrocool claims that utilizing a Kryotherm_08 module (dTmax 69K) at 24V (Qmax) and a radiator of thermal resistance 0.02°C/W for a power consumption of 245W this direct thermoelectric device can maintain a 93W...

    Latest greatest chipset cooler

Don't know how much Rpm's the DFI chipset fan does, but in my Asus SLI the chipset fan reached 8000Rpm and that was noticeable. As for being necessary or not, well it's a matter of choice and also of having the right setup to handle the load. Some want performance, some only silence. Hope AC...

    Leaks happen

Well, I too have a Storm waterblock and all i can say is that with the original fittings there are no leaks whatsoever. From forum experience most of the so called problems are originated by the users themselves. As far as the barbs being worse than P&C or compression fittings, from my...

The new Swiftech MCW55™ VGA Water-blocks

Unfortunately Erasmus354, you did "say" that. You din't quote Bio's post - "poorly compared" is/was your own choice of words (BioHazard didn't used them), so they in fact testify that not only did used them in that meaning, and that they represent your view on the subject. The issue here is...

The new Swiftech MCW55™ VGA Water-blocks

Yes, lack of standards made the numbers issue become a marketing weapon, sort of "i have, you don't, so your block probably is worse than mine". It should be mandatory every manufacturer to publicly present their technical aspects of their products along with "numbers" to their (potential)...

The new Swiftech MCW55™ VGA Water-blocks

Bio, Seems to me you're falling in the same category as as some AC fanactics, and expressing the same "sensitivity" towards inputs given. No one in this thread has dissed the Swiftech block, and most of all, no one questioned this block performance, (or any other for that matter), so it's...

The new Swiftech MCW55™ VGA Water-blocks

At fisrt it looked much like the mcw-5000 base. Upon some comparing between the two block bases, the mcw-55, seems in fact to me to be a simple derivative from the MCW-5000 block design, just the angles of the pins changed a little.

w00t! Asetek WaterChill Review @ Overclockers

Your bias towards anything not AC related is well known, but even in Europe consumers don't have that sort of close minded opinions. Do you by any chance have a idea about how many low budget kits are sold? Just to give you an insight, this Asetek pump sells for ~75€, which is the same as the...

How do you use compression fittings?

Well you don't specify the fittings or the inner walls thickness, but you only have two options: either get a less thick pipe, or get a larger swivel nut. As an example you can see that Alphacool sells compression fittings for Tygon tubing (11,OD /8mm ID) but you have to buy swivel nuts...

How to set these things up? Alphcool + DDC

Well, as you said all blocks are threaded G1/4.If you want to use Plug&Cool ou Quickfit with a 12/10mm (OD/ID), you can try to obtain from Legris (www.legris.com) some LF3000 connectors that have the same thread G1/4 but use the 12/10mm tubing. Remember that Tygon tubing is out of the question...

CMStacker or Lian LI V2000 ?

Toonage, Your little "teaser" made me curious about the outcome of your project, especially after seeing the alternative placement for the hard drives. Anyway, Lian-li is in fact the best case scenario for WC or modding. Does your project have a name? Have you posted it in this forum[H] ?

The "What is with AC" thread.

@Top Nurse, The DDC's noise and power consumption is a par with the Eheim 1048. So, what's the point of using an overclocked 1048, with EMI interference, non-ceramic shaft, big dimensions, no MBTF? Today you have a very similar product - the HPPS+ from Innovatek. In my opinion, AC should...

The "What is with AC" thread.

Top Nurse, They sell it, but don't endorse it in their cooling solutions and that is pretty well documented in their forum. Maybe it's a question of competing products (Aquastream and DDC, don't know),
  25. J

The "What is with AC" thread.

In theory all is well. In practise, as no one uses a positive displacement pump, it all comes down to minimizing the pressure drop and using the upmost potential of the pumps found in the market. So, what's the most rational way of doing it?
  26. J

The "What is with AC" thread.

Well, that's the first mistake, saying that they weren't designed for this and for that. The current cooling technology the majority of users have in the waterblocks was studied and developed around 30 years back. I would agree with a WC setup designed for low-flow if you're using...
  27. J

The "What is with AC" thread.

I think this thread will get nowhere, mainly because the manufacturer has NEVER had ANY interest in providing substancial proof of their claims, and also NEVER had ANY interest in getting independent reviews from more especialized reviewers.so why discussing something if you don't actual facts...

    Retail G4's coming soon....

You can see one from the actual product and with compression fittings. One thing Swiftech changed and i liked was the letters written along the curvature of the top, instead of being a decal/sticker

    Retail G4's coming soon....

Sidewindercomputers also accept orders for the Storm block. I think (and hope, since i've ordered the Storm aswell) that in most cases, most of the retailers (who ordered in the appropriate time) are going to get their orders till the end of this week.

    Retail G4's coming soon....

That would be great. Now that you mention it, i have one, and just thought from what i read, that you didn't think this pump was very suitable to the task at hands, (good head pressure but only ~360/lph maximum flow). At first i was going to use the alphacool acrylic top with the DDC, due to...

    Retail G4's coming soon....

Cathar, One of the virtues of your block going mainstream, is that it made me re-read your entire thread on the Overclockers.com.au, and also your various posts on the Procooling, trying to collect more info on your block and the pump's influence on it. So, i'm thinking of buying a Storm...
  33. J

    Retail G4's coming soon....

Exactly Cathar. Some manufacturers (hard pressed to keep the pace with the requests from their buyers for more performance), manage to bring out blocks that function well with a higher flow, but they don't to loose "face", so insist on 6mm ID tubing. It's the lack of understanding from the two...

    Retail G4's coming soon....

Cathar, Many users in the States have adopted 10mm barbs with blocks like the Aquacomputer and other European manufacturers. The point is, that they can also do it with the Nexxos and get a lot of performance benefits for the same money. Hence the G4 price factor. Of course the Nexxos XP...
  35. J

    Retail G4's coming soon....

Of some real concern is how the manufacturing of the G4's is going to be, or if Cathar will have some supervision upon it. Remember that when Cathar sold the LRWW to D-Tek, they changed the block and altered its performance in order to make it cheaper.
  36. J

    Retail G4's coming soon....

Well it all depends on the price asked for it, since you can get that type of performance with the Nexxos XP, as tested by Procooling. I don't know how much a Nexxos XP block costs in the U.S.A, but in Europe the G4 will have a hard time competing with the Nexxos XP in terms of performance/price.

    HDPE Bayres and Lian Li

TopNurse, i don't think that reservoir was ever conceived (or intended) to be nice or aestetically apealing, On the other hand, i recently bought one, and there's several positive aspects to it: - hpde - better than acrylic; or aluminium - even if anodinized. - price - lower than the above...
