if your refering to internet browsing being slow, then a 2nd router is not going to resolve the issue.
To resolve the issue with the slowdowns, you will need to limit the bandwidth of your torrent application. There should be some sort of option for this in the program. The torrents are...
torrent programs will suck up as much of your bandwidth as it can....dont use that program, but im sure in its options you can set the limit for the bandwidth it uses
or it could be faulty memory if its stoping at the same time during the installation, try running memtest86 to test your ram, usually with the memory though it would say it cant copy a file.
edit: added some more to my comment
the answer depends. If the modem is just a regular modem, then it will only be able to handle 1 device attached to it, because the modem can only issue 1 ip address aquired from the isp. If this is the case, then you would need a router attached to the modem(the modem then would give its ip to...
I see it as the pita would be having to go and then locate those machines and make the changes on them when the rules change in regards to what the machine is to. Having the ability to make that change at a centrally located spot would be more efficient IMO.
your gonna need to look up the filtering in your manual, you can get it from here if you dont have it

easiest way would be in the routers config...Im not familiar with your router but im sure it has the ability to block internet access based on the computers mac address
i would hook up directly to the netgear...isolate it..ie the computer and the router...change the routers ip address. If im correct d-links use the 192.168.0.1 ip address...at least mine does....if the d-link does use the same ip, then you will have an issue connecting to the netgear
also in the router in the dhcp area you can assign the ip address to the computer based on its mac address. So everytime that computer is on the router it will give that ip address to it
maybe right click the cell and choose format cells...on the number tab its probably highlighted to time in category...choose the custom in the category list then scroll down the type column and you should be able to see an option to just display time in whatever function you need
at my office we have just started to use Zen Help Desk. Its modifiable for different uses and uses an access database...also can send out emails...pretty cool for free

better yet if you recently purchased it from a local store, return it for an exchange. That is if you are still within your time frame for doing so, otherwise its RMA
the file used for creating the removable drive for digital cameras and whatnot is the usbstor.inf file...if thats missing then ya youll have problems with mass storage devices...fix, take a copy of that file from another computer and paste it into the windows inf folder

simple file sharing is turned on...open a folder, goto tools, then folder options, then the view tab, scroll to the bottom and uncheck it...apply and you should be good to go
you could also goto the properties of your local area connection and then to the properties of tcp/ip, then click on the tab for alternate configuration. I havent used this before so i dont know the results, but it looks like it does what you need, and thats configuration for 2 different networks
This is the comand set you want from the recovery console.

You can use the...
my bad wasnt fully thinking....try creating the profile on the computer with the shares as the same profile as you are using on the other computer, as long as you dont check the box to remember the password, it should require you to enter the logon name and password whenever you connect. Its...
the repair option should repair system files that have become damaged or corrupted. You should not have any data loss from doing a repair. It will repair said damaged files to the state of the version on the cd, so windows updates will be needed to bring the os to current.
1. on the computer with the shares, create a local account with the permissions you want the account to have, password it.
2. go to the folder that you want to have this protected share, right click the folder and goto properties, then select the security tab, remove the profiles that you do...
if your connected to the router and the router is not connected to the dsl modem, are you then able to access the router interface? If so, then the router and the dsl modem run in the same IP range and this can cause a conflict. Change the ip of the router to something like 192.168.2.1
Then...
sounds like simple file sharing is turned on on the desktop
open a folder, then goto tools on the menu, select folder options, click the view tab, scroll down to the bottom, and you should see that simple filesharing is checked. Uncheck it and that should resolve your issue
bridged mode turns off the router capabilities of the modem. Not sure if all DSL modems are like this, but as an example my modem is also a router. Putting the modem in bridged mode disables the router function of the modem.
What i am refering to when i say plug the comp into the modem, i...

your using both firewalls?
disable both then, if the issue stops, then you can determine thats where its comming from, then just run one at a time to see what one is then causing your issue
Edit* just seen in your post where you said you were running both....hehe my bad
also why are you...
i would plug your comp directly into your modem and make sure its set to bridged mode, as dsl routers also have a basic router included in them. This could cause disconnect issues.
go to the drive with the folder you want to be able to access from your desktop, right click on said folder, drag to your desktop, a menu should appear, select create shortcut.
