It is!
I struggled with this one as well. There is an obscure BIOS option to make it work,
In the BIOS under the Boot Menu, set
"Option ROM Messages" to "Force BIOS"
Good Luck!
My own opinion, I'm a huge fan of mini-itx for HTPC.
My latest HTPC project is with an antech isk-310 case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129081), celeron G530, ceton tuner, and foxcon motherboard.
It's quiet, doesn't use much power, and gets the job done.
I just got the 17" mbp i5.
I'd go with the 17". For $200 more you get a bigger screen, better resolution, more video ram and a slightly faster processor. I would also lean towards the 7200 drive.
I have to rant here for a second ..
I had an ASUS ATI 4850 (one of the first ones), and after a while, I started getting red lines on the screen. If I move the PCB of the card, it resolve the issue (bad traces maybe??)
Long story short, I RMA the card, and in the meanwhile, I replace it...
I ended up buying a 680i board a while back, that stopped working. I talked to support, and they had me RMA the motherboard.
After a couple weeks BFG sent me a motherboard, however the board itself looked damage and had traces exposed on the motherboard. I tried the motherboard anyway...
There is one on here for speeding 47 in a 35 mph zone. Didn't know you could arrest over under 15 over the limit.
I thought VA was bad.
Seems like a gross violation of privacy
I just RMA'd a motherboard with BFG .. I'm extremely satisfied with their customer service and RMA process
The phone tech guy had the motherboard codes memorized .. pretty impressive
Antec MX-1
Just got one for my tivo, it's quiet, drive runs cool, has a fan.
You really need to be careful with enclosures because a lot of them run really hot and will shorten the life of your drive.
Go to the Performance tab, click view and check show kernel times
Is the graph all red? If so, then it's the kernel sucking up your CPU, if not, a process is doing that.
If it's a process, I'd re-examine the system for a virus / spyware, start w/ spybot & adaware
I got my second 4850 yesterday, and it turns out, my 400w power supply isn't beefy enough to run the entire system :)
The specs are:
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R
Intel Core 2 E8400 (stock speed)
4 x 2GB OCZ DDR2 800
1 x Seagate 1TB 7200 SATA
1 x Hitachi 750GB 7200 SATA
2 x Asus ATI 4850...
I'd check a couple of things before assuming your CPU is bad.
Verify that you have proper cooling, and make sure the memory is up to par. Use something like memtest86+ or something similar.
How likely are you to push 5-gigabit on that router?
I have a VM for my firewall running pfSense, which is FreeBSD 7.0, and pushing 65+ megabit through NAT uses about 1.9 ghz on one core of a core2quad q6600. Most of the processing is for the actual interrupt of the packets. PCI Express...
I just went through a similar ordeal.
You can get away with using the actiontec as a 'bridge', and using a router, however, the actiontec bridges IP over the coax for the cable boxes. This information carries the Guide and On Demand information. The problem I ran into, was that the On...
YES!
It does matter.
Not all pentium 4s support 64-bit. Only some of the Prescotts support 64-bit. You might want to try a program like CPUID to see if your processor supports 64-bit instruction set.
I ended up buying a Dlink DI-655. We'll see how it works.
Another interesting tid bit, the guide and Video on Demand for the TV, are IP and route through the router for FIOS. So, if I watch a movie on VOD, it adds 5 megabits per VOD stream to the 20 megabits.
I've read the router faq posted, but it really doesn't answer this question ..
I recently got verzion fios, with a 20/20 connection. Their actiontec router leaves much to be desired. I've modified it to work as a network bridge, and have started using my WRT54GS as my firewall. The problem...
You are really giving me flashbacks, I used to work on these about 5 or 6 years ago ..
The APX-8100 and APX-8000 are the newer of the bunch. The MAX-TNT depending on the model can be quite old. (ascend called it 'the next thing', after the ascend max 4000/6000 series)
You should be able...
I'd personally go Intel / Core2duo.
Faster, more power efficient
Look at the Dell Vostro series.. I've priced out a 1510, with the following specs:
Intel® Core 2 Duo T5870 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic,SP1, with media,32 Edition
15.4 inch...
PERC cards seem to have a lot of problems with Intel boards, so I'd shy away from them.
See: http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?t=84882
You can get around the intel chipset problems by taping the smbus pins on the PCI-Express connector on the card, but that seems like a lot of work, and...
I just got done building a quad core ESXi box.
I'd go with the Core2 Quad, as it'll be cheaper than an Xeon board, and uses less memory.
Here is my config ...

If you are running a non-linux version (one that runs VxWorks), you can reflash it to linux, see: http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5_CFE
Hi -
I got a MSI 865PE Neo2-V with the following configuration:
P4 2.8
2 sticks of DDR400 2x512mb
I'm rebuilding this computer after a move, and I can't get it to boot. The machine POSTs and goes through the BIOS, however, when it goes to boot, it locks.
I've tried the following:

You can have 220v in the US, it's what your dryer, A/C and other heavy appliances use.
The two live leads are 180 degrees out of phase of each other, so when one is positive, the other is negative, giving you the 220-240.
If you took one lead, and one neutral, you would get your standard...
Check your power supply.
I had a motherboard (VIA + AMD) where the USB was flaky the entire time I owned it. I ended up giving it to my parents, and it worked perfectly for them. The difference?
The power supply!
If your power supply has a weak +5, especially with certain...
I'm not an NT guru, but I'll try here ..
SMTP error 501 is in the greeting stage (HELO/EHLO)
I assume this is the application talking to your local SMTP server and malforming it...
the EHLO command is suppost to be an identifier for the machine .. It could be possible that the SMTP...
There are tons of things you can do.
Depending on the mail program (usually is sendmail), the mail is stored in text files, (locations vary), and you can just parse out that file for strings.
Or, you can use procmail, which is used for this type of thing. The configuration can look...
