I don't think the 3008 supports 1.3 HDMI which means you're limited to 1920x1080. If you wish to watch protected content @ 2560x1600, then DisplayPort is your best option

As long as you can get say FFDShow to do scaling, you should be fine watching SD content. HD content of course looks fine. If you have a 3008WFP or similar you can use display scaling to let the media app switch to the video resolution and output say 1920x1080p or 1280x720p
