Hi,
I have a friend who has a budget of about 500-700 dollars. He wants a solid non-gaming machine.
I would normally build him one, but he wants a warranty, and i do not want to do any support - you know how it goes.
So, can someone recommend some places that sell good PCs, with no...

this thing is such a peice of crap... i bought one with google checkout for 80, used it a few times, realized how much it sucks, now it just sits around in my closet.
if anyone wants to buy this, i will sell you MINE for 40$
but i really dont recommend this thing to anyone.
this thing was a total peice of crap and waste of money.
over the years, i think that if i didnt look for "hot" deals and just bought crap at bestbuy, i would have the same amount of money as now, with all the crap i bought because it was such a hot deal but ended up being so crappy.
thats a shame, i have the 2gb version, and its solid. it fell off my keychain during the winter, and lay near my moms house for 5 days, during which time it snowed about 1/2 inch. i found it next weekend and other then having some mold on it, it works fine.
from what i gathered reading about all the hacks, its easy to make your own xD interface, so that you dont need an mp3 kit. you can put up to 512 megs on this thing with that mod.
it supports 128kbit mp3s and less. it doesnt support jpegs but some other format and there are conversion...
ok, i can live without a standalone app, in this case a suggestion, ie feature request!
- on the front page you have all the prices of stuff today and stuff yesterday:
* if there is a difference between those 2 numbers for one product, make the text red so people can see it right away.
Not to completly go against your design, but why not release a standalone version? let people waste their own BW and check for updates every millisecond if they feel like it? Ofcourse, i dont know what language you wrote this in, that might be a problem if its written in something really...
something tells me this wont work,
try clicking on search or on about at the top of that page, brings you to a page not found
that page is probably something old that was forgotten.
also, i am an intel guy, but isnt duron REALLY old, dont they have a semperlon or something out these days?
i think what he meant was that this promotion causes more people to sell stuff, thus the supply increases, and the demand stays the same, so the ending prices arent as high.
Here is what you must do to get this:
go to zales and buy something you DONT want, they give you a reciept and at the end of the reciept there is a part about a survey which when you take online, gives you a code which in turn gets you 50$ off 100+ next purchase.
so go home and fill out the...
hmm a good deal indeed, the only problem is that i want to invest about 200$ and build my own that will stream movies from my desktop over the wireless, play PAL/NTSC mutiregion DVDs and mp3s. I plan to progra my own interfaces, other then obviously using everything OS available on the web...
Whats really annoying is that the current router i use for some odd reason does not support WEP. I was kinda pissed when i connected it, but i got it for free, and beggers cant be choosers.
by the way, the router in question has a nice BIOS hack that extends its range. google it
