Two servers walk into a network...

I have a question that I am trying to understand and I'm hoping somebody here can help me out. I have two servers, one is on site the other is in a remote location connected via a private bonded T1. The server on-site and remote are on their own domain and communicate to each other via the T1...

Engineers Turn Robot Arm into F1 Simulator

Sweet setup, but if they're using rFactor why didn't they just download one of the car mods instead of trying to model their own. No gears should be enough to tell you they did a pretty bad job modeling a F1 car, but I guess for a demo its good enough.

Official NV 256 Beta Drivers Released.

These drivers a definite must have, especially if your running a Fermi card. Saw a substantial increase in BFBC2 performance. With the 197.55 I was running 1920x1200 32xCSAA, 16x AF, High, HBAO On with 2x TSAA, with the 257.15 drivers I was able to push my TSAA to 4x. Also saw almost an 80 point...

New Card for the WoW Player

EVGA X58 Forums has some pretty good guides in their sticky section. They apply to their boards, but it can be easily translated to other boards. I found the voltage sticky pretty helpful in helping me push my i7 930 to 4.2GHz. Most D0 cores can hit 4GHz pretty easily.

New Card for the WoW Player

Actually, I believe nVidia added "enhanced SLI support for WoW" in one of their 197 driver iterations. That being said, MSI Afterburner shows both my GPUs being loaded while playing WoW, though only at about 30% to 40%.

New Card for the WoW Player

Running in full screen mode at 19x12, but I have every setting set to max. WoW runs smooth for the most part, but I do get the occasional dip in frame rate, nothing major though. I do find it odd that my GTX480s don't even ramp up to full 3D speed when running WoW or even utilize the full power...

New Card for the WoW Player

I'm sure it does, as I hear the fans on my GPUs start to ramp up slightly when I'm in a raid, but no where near the fan speed/noise I hear when I'm playing other games like BFBC2. Probably never noticed it before as this is the first build in a while where I haven't WCed my GPUs, but my ears...

New Card for the WoW Player

If it means anything, I noticed that according to MSI Afterburner WoW doesnt barely breaks 25% GPU usage on my setup for both cards even though I sometimes get slowdowns. I find it funny too that my cards don't even see it fit to scale up to full core/mem speed when running WoW.

Documenting my GTX 480 SLI issues

Driver uninstall didn't work for me. There seems to be a conflict between the Realtek NIC drivers on Windows Update and nVidia's drivers. Not sure about the other drivers, but for the 197.55 drivers SLI didn't work until I reverted the NIC drivers back to the original drivers that installed with...

Question on WoW Cataclysm, how much will change ?

It's going to be the same recycled mechanics again. I took a break a little after ToGC came out, came back to see what ICC was about. It was fun the first time through, but after that it became a borefest. I really can't see me doing the hardcore farming like I did during my BT days. I'll...

    i7 930 overclocking thread

From what I've seen these i7s run pretty hot, a lot hotter than the C2D in my previous system. The magic number for these chips are 85C under full load. If you can keep it under 85C you should be fine for 24/7 use.

The NIC drivers from EVGA's website works fine. I had similar issues when I used the drivers found on Windows Update.

Silencer 750 Quad enough to run 2x 480 gtx?

My PCP&P Silencer 750 Quad has been my workhorse for the past 3 years, but moving to a 480GTX system you're definitely going to want more. Better safe than sorry, especially considering how much you'll be throwing down for a pair of 480s.

    Modular Connections HX1000W SLI

I have a side question for anybody running an eVGA Classy board, SLI, and the HX1000W. Do you guys bother with the 2nd ATX12V connector and if you do how do you set up your rails? Thanks again.

    Modular Connections HX1000W SLI

Just got my Corsair HX1000W for my new build. This is my first time dealing with a modular/multi-rail PSU (My PCP&P Silencer 750 Quad has been a workhorse for me the past couple of years) and I have a question about connecting the modular connections for an SLI system. I know not to mix the...

So where will we be in 6 months?

Whatever card will be DX10 or whatever they will call it for Vista complient. Or if those cards are over your budget a GTX/GT or X1800XT/XL should be pretty cheap by then when they release the nexgen cards mentioned above.

Guys picking up 2 XFX 7800GTX 512 meg cards RIGHT NOW !!

Hey Marcdaddy, are you planning on putting an aftermarket cooler on those things? I'm curious on how many ram chips this thing has. (I'm assuming 16) May pick up a pair depending on how much of an improvement is seen over the 256MB cards, but I plan on WCing them.

Which Is Better Old Tech Tv Or The New Techt V

The old TechTV is by far better than the "new" TechTV. IMO they really did a stand up job f****** that channel up. Once the original Screensavers went it was pretty much through for me. The only show worth watching on that channel now is X-Play. IMO this channel really became catered to the non...

    Windows XP X64 install problems

I decided to give WindowsXP x64 a try today and went to install, but was not able to sucessfully install it. My system specs are in my sig. I can install regular XP at my OCed speed with no problems so I went to do the same thing with X64. My first problem came when Windows started copying files...

    Lost Coast

Real short, but really, really nice graphics. Too bad I can't turn on 16x AF as even with my SLI system it slows down a bit in some places. 8x is fine though @ 1920x1200 with everything else turned up and 4x AA. I think LC also makes use of dual core as my performance tab showed both cores being...

Running 7800GTX without backside ram cooling?

You can actually get RAMsinks on those mem modules with the OCZ RAMsinks. You need to find something to wedge between the fins on the ramsinks and bend them down enough so there is enough clearance for your tubing to pass on top of them. Then you have to set your clamps (if you use clamps, which...

PCP&C 510 SLI - seems to be getting louder

If you have a decent PSU and an PCIe power adapter you should be able to use that as a temporary solution. I had a recent incident with my PSU and had my Fortron A500 powering my system until I was able to resolve the situation. Just don't try to do this with an cheap PSU.

PCP&C 510 SLI - seems to be getting louder

My PCP&C PSU isn't loud at all, in fact it is probably the quietest fan in my system. I have 6 120mm, a 92mm, and 2 80mm fans in my system, and even when I have most of the fans shutoff via my fan controller, I stil can't hear my PSU fan over the fans that I leave on. At minimum I leave the 92mm...

This is SO much more than I expected!!!!

Good to see you like your new AMD system, but I can't believe that you weren't able to play at higher settings on your P4. Was it OCed. I had a 2.53 P4 @ 3.125GHz a 6800GT and 1GB RAM and was able to play D3 at 1600x1200 high settings, but no AA.

They have 939 Opterons at eWiz as well, but you just have to make sure that it says 939 on the description.

Alright I give up, give me a setup

What are you going to be cooling? Are you going to be cooling just your CPU or other stuff as well? A very basic setup would be a Swiftech Storm, BIX or single fan HC, a Swiftech MCP655, and some ClearFlex60 or Tygon 1/2" tubing. This should give enough performance to cool your CPU.

    6800gt temps?

Need some advice on new build

System looks good, but if you have a little experience with OCing then I would go with the DFI board. It has so many features you can tweak to get the most out of your system. Of course there is more work, but the overall control you have over your systems settings are worth it. If you want...

Building Friend a Comp should I make him go Dualcore or not...?

Why only 1024x768? Today's graphics cards can easily play games at that resolution. What kind of budget do you have? For gaming the graphics card should be the focus of the system. Get the most you can afford, but be sure to balance the power of your graphics card with our CPU (i.e. don't get a...

Scared to plug in my PSU....really bad day....

Things seem to be fine with my PCP&C PSU. Was able to run a round of Sandra tests and 3DM03 and 05 no problems. Still stressed over the lost graphics cards though....my 3DM scores just aren't the same :(.

Scared to plug in my PSU....really bad day....

I have done that and I measured every single plug and all voltages look good. I know it's the video card because my 6800GTs work fine and I was able to install WindowsXP at my last stable OC speed (2.7GHz @ 1.568V).
