Folks,
I'm looking to buy the dv7t. Has anyone had any experience with it. There are hardly any reviews online.
Is the keyboard area too shiny? Does it distract one from one's work?
How is the build quality? Does it feel durable?
These are some of the questions I need answered if possible...
Leaving affordability aside, :D , can you recommend any good IPS panels?
Where Samsung is concerned, is there any specific model you would recommend for my purposes and size range? Would S-PVA do a better job at photo editing than TN? What specific model?
Thanks again.
Of the current (new) Samsung 19" - 21" models, are there any IPS panels? I've been thinking about buying the 206BW but the only thing holding me back is the fact that it's a TN panel. My primary applications are photo-editing and web browsing. Color fidelity and text quality are very important...
Ordered the Vostro 1500. Came to more than $300 less than an equally equipped Inspiron 1520. :D
But I simply don't understand Dell's pricing strategies
Does anyone?
Hope mine is not plagued by the infamous high-pitched noise plaguing the current gen of 1520s. :(
It may have been a better/safer option to buy the bag from Dell when ordering the laptop. I'm sure Dell sells only bags that fit their laptops. Perhaps you can order from them if the one you have on order does not fit?
I'm in the same boat as you. If they sold the FW900 brand-new, I'd pay almost anything to buy one. It's sad that market forces have to dictate the direction taken by technology companies. The superior products always get sacrificed: Betamax, CRT, etc.
I'm afraid I don't know how the P225 compares with either G225 or 1100MB, except to say that, if at all, the P225 should be better than the G225.
Here's a dated but informative article: Seven 21" and 22" CRTs Compared
Please note that the P225 has undergone several revisions since that...
Actually, since the model is no longer available in the U.S., sellers can claim anything they want for it and, if you need it badly enough, you might pay.
When I checked the price in Singapore, it was around US$580, which was about the list price of this monitor in the U.S.
No it isn't. That is the G225, which is the so-called "Graphics" series. The P225 is their "Professional" series and is a higher-end monitor. If you compare the specs carefully, you will see that they are different. Earlier, P series was available in the U.S. although it now seems to be...
I would much rather go with the P225f, which is the professional series. Higher resolution and refresh rates. However, I do not know whether they have the model in the U.S. Singapore I know has it.
See here: Viewsonic P225f
That's an IBM buckling spring keyboard, isn't it? Nice to see someone appreciating good workmanship.
I bought one myself a couple of weeks ago. Beats the living daylights out of any modern keyboard, IMHO. :D
Another vote for Glossy!
My wife's Dell 1705 laptop has the glossy screen. It looks so smooth and the colors look very rich. It's beautiful even for other applications like web-surfing, word processing, etc.
When I run setup, I get the following message:
Although I get this error, when I click the OK button, the installation proceeds and I get a the normal message saying components have been installed and ready to use. If I run Setup again, the same error is displayed.
Any idea what this is...
