What are you playing on your deck?

Just finished Ori and the Blind Forest. Pretty game and very fun aside from a few frustrating escape sequences. Haven't started the next one (Will of the Wisps) yet. Playing a bit of Into the Breach for turn based stuff, and some Super Meat Boy when the twitchy mood strikes as well. Need to...

Do you ever use your trackpads?

I saw some youtube videos (Nerd Nest I think) where he did some fairly sophisticated control mapping examples using the track pads & layers to map multiple functions to single buttons based on having other modifier buttons pressed. I haven't had time to try out his examples but the...

Steam Deck officially announced by Valve

My shoulders are kind of wide so I actually like the width, don't feel like I am scrunching my arms in to hold it. I agree that pressing the shoulder buttons during gameplay feels a bit awkward so far, though maybe I just need to get used to it. My fingers want to be where the triggers are...

    Steam Deck Tips & Tricks

Yeah I haven't played anything super demanding yet but so far I haven't noticed much difference between the games launched on the SD card vs internal. I got a 512GB Samsung SD card that seems to be working great, filled a good chunk of it with a bunch of games from my backlog that maybe I'll...

    Official PS5 Thread

Heh I was just going to ask if anyone noticed their audio settings changed. I had mine set to home theater (or whatever it was named before I forget) and 5.1, and after the update it was set to TV. Had to go back in and change it and re-set it to 5.1 again. Popped in my 2TB 980 Pro with an...

Steam Turns 18 YO Today - Rolled Out: Sept. 12 2003

Like many I hated having to install it and dragged my feet, only finally did it to play HL2. Also like many I now have collected more games in my backlog than I can ever conceivably play.

That all-black treatment does look pretty nice, and I do like the more matte brushed-look of the middle skin now that you've shown it. Though I have to say the white side panels have grown on me a little, almost every piece of electronics I own is black so it's something different. It clashes...

    PlayStation Showcase 2021

Really looking forward to Spider-Man 2 & the idea of a Wolverine game made with the same studio/quality as Spider-Man is pretty awesome, really looking forward to that one. The new God of War is obviously on the radar too, played the older ones back on PS3 but haven't played the more recent PS4...

    Official PS5 Thread

Oh yeah, looking forward to it. The only thing about having so many cool games out there that I want to play is focusing on one long enough to beat it before another shiny one lures my attention away. As far as getting one, the way I got mine was I bit the bullet & got one of the bundles...

    Official PS5 Thread

Really been digging my PS5 as well. I never had a PS4 so my last real console was a PS3, big jump in graphics and tons of games to pick from since I've never played any PS4 games at all. Finished Ratchet & Clank, very pretty graphics & fun game, I liked it a lot. Also almost finished with...

[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for Nvidia, AMD, Intel, PS5, XBOX

Entered the shuffle the other day (never been selected for any 3080s or anything) and on a whim selected a couple of the PS5 bundles as well. Ended up "winning" one and said what the hell and got it, haven't had a new console since early in the PS3 days. I know I overpaid for the bundled...

    How much RAM you got?

Originally built my current TR 2950x rig with 32 GB (figured I probably didn't need more, save a little $$), but VMs & work-related memory pigs like Visual Studio/SQL Server/Chrome (lol) have been eating most of that up regularly for some time. Finally got tired of bumping into my memory...

Former NASA Engineer Makes a Box That Tortures Package Thieves

I think if cops did something besides hide behind bushes giving out tickets to fill their quotas some of this type of stuff might not be necessary. Obviously this is not murder or something but they just don't give a shit and the crooks know it, and we are not allowed to defend our property...

Financial Info Leaked in Newegg Data Breach

Yeah I hadn't used them for many years after ticking me off long long ago, but they happened to have a couple things that Amazon / B&H didn't have in stock, guess this is my reward for giving them another shot.

Financial Info Leaked in Newegg Data Breach

    Whatever happened to highscores?

I don't miss the high score thing much either, though I do like the occasional cool achievement popup for doing something unusual during a playthrough (like killing 6 dudes with one shot and not knowing that was an achievement till it pops up etc). I don't normally chase achievements for their...

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Heh that's what I've been doing as well, having a blast. Just have to beat the last dungeon. I also started Witcher 3 but haven't played it in a couple weeks, need to get back to it.

I noticed I've bought some Steam games that have GFWL, is it as bad as some say?

I couldn't run BioShock 2 at all because of stupid GFWL (though I think it's been patched out since). Batman luckily worked with an offline profile for me but as mentioned above it is hit and miss as to when/if you'll have issues. Super pleased that POS is getting patched out of a lot of games.

The Furnace is a myth. I've still never seen one on any of my characters, let alone have any hope of ever getting an ancient one. Not that that's frustrating. :D

You Can Now Play Nearly 2,400 MS-DOS Video Games from Your Browser

Man I loved that game too, used to get up at night as a kid and put blankets over the Commodore 64's floppy drive to muffle the sound so I wouldn't get in trouble for playing it. :D Archon was another favorite for sure.

WoW; 5th expansion Warlords of Draenor

Speaking of graphics, it's a little thing, but it really irks me that they won't update the Moonkin graphic to the level of the cat/bear that they did way back in WotLK. Blowing off little details like that lessen the experience in my opinion.

    Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

The game is so much better now, I don't miss the AH. I quit for quite a while when I got tired of playing a few hours in Inferno, getting 0 usable drops, and sometimes having less gold than I started with due to repairs. I couldn't afford any of the really good items on the AH unless I got...

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls PC - $20 @ Best Buy

You can price match it at Target with the ad, did that a couple days ago. I had zero luck with the tiny PC sections at a couple Best Buys around here as well. I saw a few people mention you can possibly get it price matched at Wal Mart too.

Ubi goes Old School - Might and Magic X legacy

Man, M&M 3-5 are some of my favorite RPGs ever, didn't like the later games in the series as much, if this is similar in spirit to the earlier games then I'm all over it. Now you guys have me wanting to play this instead of working on my giant backlog.

Steam 2013 Thanksgiving sale is here! runs from November 27 to December 3

Musta been a glitch, shows 9.99 again at least for the moment. Tomb Raider was awesome, had a great time with it. The QTEs were annoying but not common enough to ruin my enjoyment of the rest of the game, which was really well done. Pretty quiet sale for me so far, picked up FC3 finally...

    World of Warcraft 75% off

Yeah this sale gave me major itching to come back and play a bit as well. I had a 10-day free trial of MoP in my Battle.Net account (hadn't played in like 2.5+ years, sometime in WotLK). Just a taste to see if you want to come back, you might check your account. One warning, if you do a...

    HDMI-Sound without Video?

Is there a way to do the above without telling windows I have a 2nd monitor? I have a 560 TI connected to a Dell u3011 via dual link DVI, and to a receiver via HDMI. It works great except I have to tell windows it is an extended desktop. (Duplication option doesn't want to do full 2560x1600...

    SCII: HOTS... Whos excited??

I really enjoyed the first campaign, don't really get why some people hated it. It had a nice variety of missions and I thought the story was fine. Hoping to similarly enjoy HOTS' campaign. I will dip into the multiplayer as well but I definitely get a lot of enjoyment out of the single player.

    SCII: HOTS... Whos excited??

Have to say I'm pretty excited too. I thought I might skip it after the bad taste D3 left in my mouth, but I got the bug again and really enjoyed WOL, so I've been playing through the Terran campaign again to refresh my memory on the story. First couple missions I felt like a moron...

Heroes of Might and Magic - best one?

I usually like to manually handle every battle, as even though you may win by letting the computer manage it, you may lose a few units that you would not have had you directed your troops. Over time the attrition of a few troops here and there can make a pretty big difference. and with good...

Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition) blu-rays $39.99

Yeah I agree, ended up just putting the Blu Rays into the slots where the actual movie DVDs used to go inside the pretty DVD sets, since I got the stand-alone blu releases of each movie from Target a while back. I still have the pretty packaging and kept the extras of the DVD set that way...

Oh man I forgot this one, I LOVE this game. Sister & I got really good at it, no one else could hang with us after a while. This game lets me get into kind of a zen state lol. The amount of crap you could send at your opponent when you got the strategy down was pretty impressive and...

Pretty excited that GFWL isn't listed anywhere and it seems like it will just be using Steam. Loved the first Bioshock but never got the 2nd one working due to GFWL issues with it. Hopefully all those GBs of textures they are touting look purty on our monitors!
