im assuming you were using a stock HSF, if so which one was it the heat pipe versions or just a aluminum one? that could explain why the temps spiked so fast, but even so not taxing your system that does seem like a big jump in temps... how clean is your current HSF and what is your case...

the benefit wouldnt justify the cost imo, if you are going to go all out on a cpu upgrade id go for at least a x6 (if your mobo can take one), but really id just save up for a system upgrade

you beat me to it, but you are absolutely correct, als0 that is nearly identical to my 6850's output OP depending on settings, if you have ever tried using that computer when it is crunching a GPU unit it will be very sluggish
