I just got mine recently. Definitely money well spent. Since I don't have to worry about it running out I'm dusting out my electronics way more often now.
Here's what it says on the amazon page.
"Order the Xbox 360 4GB Console and receive a $50 promotional credit toward the purchase of items shipped and sold by Amazon.com"
Did you read the article? The first line clearly states "My sister bought a computer from Best Buy and purchased their $300 warranty."
This is very shady on the Best Buy and Geek Squad. Hope the girl gets a new FREE laptop for her troubles from BB.
The 8600GT/x1600 on the non unibody MBP's where known for their high failure rates and the GPU is soldered onto the logic board which would need to be replaced if the GPU died, it's very expensive to fix if out of warranty. I'd say that $500 would be a fair price, but i would not personally buy...
I have a t61 and its a solid machine. I'd check what graphics card it has. If it has the nvidia graphics as oppose to the intel one, i'd suggest you pass on it as the nvidia ones are known to die prematurely.
Your profile says your in Nor Cal, if your in the Bay, I got Power Mac G5 for you for $50. Fans always spin at 100% so its loud but that might not matter too you if its sitting in the basement.
I would have been suspicious after he said that he would take the money out of paypal and put it in his bank account. If he took that much precaution to ensure that he would be protected, there is absolutely no reason IMO that he wouldn't have know about the chips being ES in the first place...
Either of your options sound reasonable to me. I'd say file the claim if you guys can't resolve it personally, which appears unlikely given his response.
This is Lame, I don't know why Toshiba would bother even offering to repair the broken drive when it would be much cheaper just to replace it with a new one. The guy in the story should have written F...U... on the hard drive instead of Faulty.
