They just got their hands on a few 4Ps systems, and a few new 2Ps as well. Given most of this ramp is from HPCS, but then are still kicking it up a notch on their own.
Your intentions are great, I'm just not sure you are allowed to post threads from other forums here. I don't know, I only said that to keep you from getting into trouble. I must say though, that guide is probably the most easiest F@H setup and most well written guide I've ever read! ;)
Well...
Money is likely better sent straight to a lab or a fund than put to folding. Folding is great if you have the hardware, or want the hardware, but spending money on points isn't the best use of the money when looking for cures. But that won't stop me from playing with them while in beta.
with the ripjaw 1333 cl7, there are two different pcb verisions, green and black
the blacks can handle aggressive timings with a 12.5% OC
while the green can only do a 10% OC with aggressive timings
fun fact

Let me explain further... I'm keeping one 4P and then selling the other for 10 GPUs. That should net me several hundred dollars a month. All of which will go back into folding hardware. I should be able to buy a 4P almost every other month with the profit. I'm sad to go down to 1 4P for now, but...

The resale value comes down to who you plan to resell it to. To any folder, the extra pci-e slots won't necessary and really won't increase the value.
I'm not sure of the re-sale value concern, but just FYI, this board has an ETA from SM of the 17th...
If you are patient and constantly looking, you can grab a tyan open box board off of newegg for about $400, although, there is no guarantee you will ever get one.
That leaves you with two other choices.
1) $716 -...
Ram for these boards should be no more than 1.5v. The boards max out at 1333, and when overclocking we have to go down to 1200. (1066 * 1.125). We can flash the timings down when we use ram that runs at a higher clock speeds. You should have 16 sticks of ram, 4 per processor.
Ideally, you are...
One of the kits I bought is running 4 x 6174s OCed right now. Paired with this ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231492
I'm getting ~575-580k PPD on a 6903
The OCing on these boards is not staright forward like on desktop systems. But if you come into the IRC, we...
450, 460, or the 550 and 560( if you can get a good deal on them used) are the good folding cards
Those cards should net you between 12 -16K PPD. Basically, all are good PPD/$ cards, it comes down to which you can get the best deal on.
I'm not running it with the cover off. I was working on things at the time the picture was taken. Since I have stacked them all, as a rack setup (given, without the cabinet) should be. However, even with the cover off, it still is most fine. The barebones kit includes a plastic fan shroud that...
