I'm just wishing to turn on a bit more eye candy in games like Dragon Age and the likes. I don't really have the money for a whole new system and want to squeeze out a bit more life out of my pc.
I'm hoping to last until games like FF14 hit the shelves.
The most I could spend is 600$ if I...
I wish to upgrade my video card, but I'm not sure if going for a 4870 would be much of an upgrade over a 8800GT. I don't want to spend over 200$. Keeping it under 200$ would be great.
My current specs are:
DFI Lanparty LT-X38
Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3.6 GHZ
2GB DDR2
GeForce 8800GT
Would I...
Thanks, I'm a little less paranoid now. I'll bump the voltage to 2 on my memory. I still cant get an accurate reading on my cpu temp, but the core temps are always the same through out these different apps.. so I'll go by that.
Hopefully things hold up come summer time, when it's a lot...
I'm running an E6750 on a DFI LP LT X38, with 2 G.SKILL 1GB DDR2 1066 modules.
I've got it set to 1:1, with the memory running at 450MHZ and 4-4-4-12 at 1.95V.
The CPU is set to 1.3V, with the multiplier set at 8. So it's sitting at 3.6 GHZ right now.
I'm a little concerned, because...
I decided to just go with the X38. Since the DK version was out of stock I bit the bullet and paid more for the LT version. Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully it performs well.
Alright, I've decided to go with DFI. But I still cant decide whether to go with the X38 or the P35.
So it comes down to this..
Do I get the LT P35-T2R or the DK X38-T2R?
Yes, I dont do major upgrades very much. I try to squeeze as much as I can out of my parts before I change them out. Unless something comes out that has a lot of improvement, then I'll update really quick.
I'm still not sure what to go with. All the options are overwhelming. But I do plan to...
Hey, I'm building a brand new PC since my current one is ancient and falling a part. (It's an old Athlon XP system :( )
I'm planning on purchasing an E6750 for now and getting an e8400 when the price finally goes back down and it's actually in stock. I would wait and just get the e8400 but I...
All this arguing is pointless anyway. Gateway wised up and changed how their exchanges worked. It's 500$ now, not 98$. I always knew it was risky of them to only charge 98$ and it looks like they realized this too. ;)
When do you think it will start showing up in stores like Best buy or Fry's? I dont really want to try buying from Gateway. If I can buy it at a regular store I can return it easily if it's plagued by problems like the 24".
Also, why am I not surprised the 30" has a similiar heat issue as the...
Because it will apparently upscale any 1080 or below feed to its native res.
Good for gamers I guess. You'll be able to run at a lower res and still get a decent picture.
I still get the feeling there will be something that will ruin it. Just like with the 24".
MaximumPC seems happy...
Or, you know, they could of just changed it. It WAS sort of a risk on their part to only charge 98$.
Also, after that many trade ins I'd expect the opposite of charging more simply because I returned the "defective" one every time. So I doubt it's 500$ now because I've returned it so many times.
I doubt that, I've RMA'ed it more than twice. Maybe 4-6 times now. It was always 98$. I just stopped because no matter how many I got they all showed the same horrible inverse ghosting.
Hm, well I tried to see if I could get an RMA and they asked me for 500$ this time instead of 98$ like the last time I did an exchange. They also changed it from 7 days to 10. I wonder when they changed it?
I wonder if it really works. I always thought they would charge you 98$ and then if they never got it back charge the full price of the monitor on the CC you provided.
There is no conversion between HDMI and DVI. They're the same exact connection. HDMI just carries an audio signal as well. The HDMI/DVI cable simply has a HDMI plug at one end and the pins for the video signal (dvi) at the other..
So there's nothing to degrade the signal at all. It's also...
I thought about doing that when I got angry with Gateway. But logic dictates that they would most likely charge your credit card the full amount of the monitor after not receiving the old one back. Since I dont want to risk paying 500$ + 98$ for a defective monitor I never tried.

According to this article we could see a huge price drop on LCD displays by the end of the year.
42" TVs that are going for 1k now will be 600-700$ then. 32 inches will only be 200-300$?! Even the 37 inchers will drop.
I wonder if...
Yes, we all know about the inverse ghosting. No one can deny it's there, just read the entire thread to see pages and pages about it.
It has turned a decent monitor into a shitty one. No, Gateway wont do anything about it. I've tried 23458027345876 times to get some help out of that company.
When it's red it means it's in hibernation or power saving mode. The monitor will shut itself off automatically when there's no signal and will switch back on when it senses a signal on one of its inputs.
So chances are the monitor is going into power saving mode and then picking up some sort...
Well if you want to look for inverse ghosting simply drag your mouse across the gray border below the red but above a post. With a white mouse cursor it should trail black on the gateway.. It should do it the most after being on for awhile, maybe an hour.
Here's a question to those of you with newer versions of the gateway monitor (like April or May 2007). Has gateway improved the overheating or inverse ghosting at all or is it still bad?
I have a little problem.. Where the hell can I buy this monitor?
Newegg is out of stock and charges way too much for it. I dont want to pay 800$ for it when it's 700 or below.
I tried NCIX but they are no longer accepting US credit cards and the only other payment method is Paypal. Paypal...
I use the Gateway 24" monitor and have gotten Inverted ghosting on every replacement Gateway has sent me. I started with a December model, got a couple more December models, and Jan/Feb models and they all had inverted ghosting.
The only thing that helped cut the inverted ghosting down was...
Is there any major difference between this and the WZ model? If I get the BenQ I'm wondering if I should get this or spend a little more money and get the WZ.
I cant really tell the difference aside from hearing one uses one type of panel and the other doesn't. Can someone clear this up for...
I wish I could walk into best buy and do a trade or refund with my Gateway. But I dont have the receipt and it's way over the return policy deadline. :/
I have a HD Tuner box that can connect over component or DVI. It outputs at 1080i so the monitor has to support that. Is it possible to do...
Well, since it looks like Gateway cant fix this problem (Ive done a ton of exchanges) I have decided to sell the monitor for a loss and buy another 24".
But now I dont know what to get. I want something that has lots of connections like the Gateway does but can also scale things well or...
Sigh, if I could sell this monitor I would. But I cant.. or I dont know of anyway I can sell it.
I like this monitor but the inverted ghosting is killing things for me. I have a fan pointed on it that helps a little but not enough.
I cant return it to bestbuy and every time I rma it I get...
