I also followed the avsforum thread. 1) This is for 2013 models, 2014 models are starting to arrive so stores are clearing out the 2013. 2) Even though the posters talked about IPS models, I could never find any LN5300 with IPS screens ( in the Chicago area).
If you dig into the LG IPS...
Some games (Total War: Rome II for one) still don't multi-thread/task and require the fastest CPU available to run well.
The current trend is to move the multi-threading to the GPUs. So this is going to further discourage developers from multi-threading their games.
AMD has almost completely...
I would not recommend Sapphire anymore. I've had their ATI products over the years, starting with a 9800 pro.
The Sapphire HD 6850 has been a nightmare. The quality seems lacking: Fan failure after 6 months and the RMA process frustrating: 2 months of exchanges with the RMA process. (1st...
I just took a long look at the 560 vs 570. IF you are willing to OC, the 560ti 448 looks like a very good deal. Many reviewers are having very good look at OCing the 560 past 570 levels. Add in the price difference and you've got a good deal.
I also looked at the 7850, but with AMD's...
It's been obvious for a while that a bigger screen is necessary, but is Tim C. ready to defy the Great God of Apple who always derided the idea of a bigger screen?
Congrats, I think you ended up with a good product.
I went through your same eval a month ago and went with the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro.
The board is rock solid, the driver CD was up to date and I'm overclocking to 4.4Ghz with hardly any effort (I'm running FAH 24/7 and the system has been up for...
There are very few manufacturer's of high end panels (IPS technolog- They are LG/Phillips, NEC, Panasonic and Sharp).
Everybody outsources panel manufacturing from other companies. LG gets their $400 TV panels from Chi Mei. Sony gets many of their panels from Samsung and Chi Mei, Samsung...
you continue to confuse Apple with true branding companies like Dell or HP or Best Buy's Insignia or Dynex.Apple makes the best products you can buy (No, I'm not an apple fanboy, I don't own a single apple product).
I've read your 1st to last post. You are a troll. you are just spewing...
The point isn't that Samsung, Lg and sharp are bottom tier, the point is all these
manufacturers make low cost models and high cost models.
Apple hasn't sold low cost stuff in over ten years. _Everything_ they sell is top of the line
Yep and there is no difference between a Chevy Cobalt and a Mercedes C250
And when was the last time Apple sold any lcds larger than 25 for $500?
_Starting_ price for Apple 27s are $999
Panasonic's High quality 37 LCD TV is $1000
IF apple _was_ to sell something in the 42 inch range...
I've bought from http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ a couple of times.
Good prices and high quality. Their website is also a good source of information on
cabling, HDMI connectors etc
But if you think about it. The US military is well aware of this possibility and (probably) already has developed solutions to counteract GPS jamming (at least this is what the paper is proposing).
Yes if your system is _not_ aware of GPS tampering then bad things can happen
Yeah, you're right, I would think you would have to send signals to pretend to be all the satellites. My point was: it wasn't as easy as "hacking a satellite".
Based on the reports I was reading about Lightsquared, I really think what happened is Iran signal jammed the drone.
[
That's not how GPS systems work. GPS systems need (at a minimum) 3 (and preferably 5) different satellites. To get a location.
Furthermore, being the GPS satellites were put up their by the military, I highly doubt it's possible anyone hacked into them.
Much more likely is Iran...
As a market and growth leader, RIM is dead. (Multiple day network outages don't cut it in the corporate world.)
Knowing how many corporations stick with dead technology even though they should have abandoned it long ago, I would say RIM will be around for awhile.
Balmer and M$ are screwing the pooch right now. This may be their last chance (by riding the government gravy train) to regain the huge lead they've given up to Apple IOS and Android in the emerging tablet marketplace

I wonder if this is related to the EHR effort? There's some big bucks to be made for EHR.
MS has so far failed to have a player in the tablet market. How bout Window 8 on a tablet with EHR software? That could be a huge moneymaker and establish MS in tables
I took delivery of a 600t 2 weeks ago.
It has the 700rpm fans. As noted elsewhere the fan
controller does not seem to have any effect.
My gpu (GTX-460) is MUCH louder (when under load) than the system fans.
Taking the side panel will effect system temperature, turning the...
To try and redeem myself: it seems "your motherboard must be equipped with the ME8 (management engine) firmware " to be able to support Ivy Bridge.

Ah the infamous political thread every board seems to have.
Just to throw my opinion in:
I believe we are seeing some sort of global warming, but whether it is caused (or aggravated by humans) it is too early to tell. History has shown there is long term trends.
(One being the "little...
