how do I install a m.2 ssd on my MSI z97m gaming board?

The MSI Z97m motherboard has a PCIe based m.2 socket, capable of running at 10GB/s ... that is PCIe Gen 2.0 2x speeds....... The Samsung XP941 is a PCIe based m.2 device, capable of PCIe Gen 2.0 4x speeds So to summarise, your device is faster than your platform, therefore you will not be...

NCASE M1 Softshell Carry Bag for community

smart thinking, there are a couple of boards now that have external antennas added directly to the back, didn't think about that, because i've been considering Asus or ASRock boards

NCASE M1 Softshell Carry Bag for community

This bag looks really really good, i have an M1 Case and wondered about a bag, and read through the early posts but havent been here for a while, and i see it's developed into a really professional looking item, congratulations. I have no desperate need of a bag personally, however, i might...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

what i had in mind was a GTX 670 short board model, a black gold twin sat/tv tuner, onboard mPCIe wifi+bluetooth module and a massive mSATA drive in the other mPCIe.mSATA skt, possibly drop the PSU to the floor of the case, at the front, possible because of the short GPU, mount the pump above...

    Haswell Z87 SFF motherboard list

the ASrock board has some very good features/abilities which the others don't have, the Asus Impact, is without a doubt the best quality of the lot, has and at least 3 AIO waterblocks i know of, and that's disapointing that the manufacturers all focussed on the same board, even the Asus Deluxe...

curious to know if it's possible to shoe-horn a Shuttle SX79R5 X79 based motherboard in there ;) something alluring about a i7-4960x based M1 :p

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I can see from early pictures etc, that a short ATX PSU could be used, instead of the more traditional SFX, thus taking up the entire front end width of the case, and reducing fan/rad options etc. Question, is it possible to use an SFX PSU, and have it offset to the opposite side of the case...

wonder how that water block copes with the extra modules the impact board has, i'm guessing it'll all be a bit of a snug fit, and cable connections are all good ??

most of the higher end 1150 skt boards will accept the the v3 E3 Xeon chips, some of which have no GPU others now do. And as i have no intention of overclocking, the Xeon for me makes sense considering the costs That was one hell of a build i have to admit i was impressed, full 2011 socket...

If anyone in the UK orders up a set of these and wants to sell the silver ones to recover some of the cost, let me know, i quite liked the look of the silverone's on a black case, and might be interested in taking them off your hands so i have the choice. ok, no worries, i saw something about...

    Haswell Z87 SFF motherboard list

if you have the impact board, you should be able to check and measure physically, I could be wrong, but i think it is only a physical size restriction between the listed version sizes, there is no other difference (not withstanding the 2 flavour of connections) so if you have a card made to fit...

the ASRock board has i believe a higher positioned cpu skt, due to the power board on the asus, you also dont have the sound card to deal with, you may find you have enough clearance to mount it heatpipes down, start measuring lol

    Haswell Z87 SFF motherboard list

yup, so basically right now, the M.2 socket is pretty useless, not only is it a poor restricted implementation, but it is also size restricted if i am not mistaken, making me think the mSATA on the back of the asrock board may be a better value option, given the price difference and options...

In regards to the Asus MAXIMUS VI IMPACT, it's a long read but well worth it...... http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?35981-NGFF-on-R.O.G-motherboards What this guys says makes a lot of sense to me, i also see nothing but missed opportunities with it, in relation to unused PCIe...

eh ??? .... or you could just unscrew the feet and swap them between the cases, thus maintaining the case colour linked serial numbered chassis with the correct coloured panels !!! Personally i never gave the feet much thought, black on black case looks ok, minimalist, not sure about...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The gigabyte boards are nice, and have some good features, but no mSATA slot, and the skt is a bit too close to the PCIe skt for my liking, but you can always use a water block with it I personally am looking either at the Impact, or the ASRock board, because i'd like the extra skt for an ssd...

have to admit, i am tempted to consider one of the asus mini cards like this 670, athough they do a 760 version which i can get for £90 less, but not sure which will be best for me, especially as i'm not a gamer really, and i know the 700 series cards are supposed to have a h.264 encoder built...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Yeah, i will probably get the 450w one, but i don't think i'll need all of it, but a 550 would give me more overhead, and mean i would be running in a range lower in it's abilities, so would thus generate less heat and less likely to cause over-use of the fan i've bought parts before bit at a...

Serial number 0237 is the one on ebay, and he wants £300 for it, the sku indicates it's black with the extra no-odd top. I may not be taking this deal you arranged, but i still think a thank you is in order for the effort and community spirit :) When removing these little things, sometimes it pays to slightly push the pin in, rather than trying to pull it out initially, as the wings can foul on the plastic, and...
