The MSI Z97m motherboard has a PCIe based m.2 socket, capable of running at 10GB/s ... that is PCIe Gen 2.0 2x speeds.......
The Samsung XP941 is a PCIe based m.2 device, capable of PCIe Gen 2.0 4x speeds
So to summarise, your device is faster than your platform, therefore you will not be...
smart thinking, there are a couple of boards now that have external antennas added directly to the back, didn't think about that, because i've been considering Asus or ASRock boards
This bag looks really really good, i have an M1 Case and wondered about a bag, and read through the early posts but havent been here for a while, and i see it's developed into a really professional looking item, congratulations.
I have no desperate need of a bag personally, however, i might...
what i had in mind was a GTX 670 short board model, a black gold twin sat/tv tuner, onboard mPCIe wifi+bluetooth module and a massive mSATA drive in the other mPCIe.mSATA skt, possibly drop the PSU to the floor of the case, at the front, possible because of the short GPU, mount the pump above...
the ASrock board has some very good features/abilities which the others don't have, the Asus Impact, is without a doubt the best quality of the lot, has and at least 3 AIO waterblocks i know of, and that's disapointing that the manufacturers all focussed on the same board, even the Asus Deluxe...
I can see from early pictures etc, that a short ATX PSU could be used, instead of the more traditional SFX, thus taking up the entire front end width of the case, and reducing fan/rad options etc.
Question, is it possible to use an SFX PSU, and have it offset to the opposite side of the case...
wonder how that water block copes with the extra modules the impact board has, i'm guessing it'll all be a bit of a snug fit, and cable connections are all good ??
most of the higher end 1150 skt boards will accept the the v3 E3 Xeon chips, some of which have no GPU others now do.
And as i have no intention of overclocking, the Xeon for me makes sense considering the costs
That was one hell of a build i have to admit i was impressed, full 2011 socket...
If anyone in the UK orders up a set of these and wants to sell the silver ones to recover some of the cost, let me know, i quite liked the look of the silverone's on a black case, and might be interested in taking them off your hands so i have the choice.
ok, no worries, i saw something about...
if you have the impact board, you should be able to check and measure physically, I could be wrong, but i think it is only a physical size restriction between the listed version sizes, there is no other difference (not withstanding the 2 flavour of connections) so if you have a card made to fit...
no worries, i'll keep watching, i'm sure you'll let us know when they have them :D
Thanks for the info/update, will probably get some of these when they're available
yeah that's a shame for sure, website says instock right now, so i think i'll go ahead and order one.
yeah, the ongoing...
the ASRock board has i believe a higher positioned cpu skt, due to the power board on the asus, you also dont have the sound card to deal with, you may find you have enough clearance to mount it heatpipes down, start measuring lol
yup, so basically right now, the M.2 socket is pretty useless, not only is it a poor restricted implementation, but it is also size restricted if i am not mistaken, making me think the mSATA on the back of the asrock board may be a better value option, given the price difference and options...
In regards to the Asus MAXIMUS VI IMPACT, it's a long read but well worth it......
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?35981-NGFF-on-R.O.G-motherboards
What this guys says makes a lot of sense to me, i also see nothing but missed opportunities with it, in relation to unused PCIe...
eh ??? .... or you could just unscrew the feet and swap them between the cases, thus maintaining the case colour linked serial numbered chassis with the correct coloured panels !!!
Personally i never gave the feet much thought, black on black case looks ok, minimalist, not sure about...
The gigabyte boards are nice, and have some good features, but no mSATA slot, and the skt is a bit too close to the PCIe skt for my liking, but you can always use a water block with it
I personally am looking either at the Impact, or the ASRock board, because i'd like the extra skt for an ssd...
have to admit, i am tempted to consider one of the asus mini cards like this 670, athough they do a 760 version which i can get for £90 less, but not sure which will be best for me, especially as i'm not a gamer really, and i know the 700 series cards are supposed to have a h.264 encoder built...
ha, someone has done a lot more thinking about this than me ! .... gotta head to work soon, but will have a read over this more later when i get time, thx
i'd be interested in seeing this mod of yours okwchin when your case arrives, it sounds interesting
Yeah, i will probably get the 450w one, but i don't think i'll need all of it, but a 550 would give me more overhead, and mean i would be running in a range lower in it's abilities, so would thus generate less heat and less likely to cause over-use of the fan
i've bought parts before bit at a...
no idea, haven't given it much thought, it would not take much measuring to work it out though, that said, if this was an option i'm sure someone would have mentioned it by now
ok thanks, i realised after i'd posted it was a multiboard thing .... but yeah, it looks a bit of a compromise in many ways.
Guys, in relation to the accessories etc with the Case, did anyone ever post a contents list for what should be in the the small box supplied with it
Serial number 0237 is the one on ebay, and he wants £300 for it, the sku indicates it's black with the extra no-odd top.
I guess it's no surprise ones there, although the speed it has been advertised is disappointing, given that supporters are still waiting for delivery on some.
I also thought...
I may not be taking this deal you arranged, but i still think a thank you is in order for the effort and community spirit :)
When removing these little things, sometimes it pays to slightly push the pin in, rather than trying to pull it out initially, as the wings can foul on the plastic, and...
This was not unexpected, there was some discussion about it earlier on, we knew there would be some cost, and it woul have been worse had the guys priced it a lot higher than $90 on the declaration paperwork.
There was again some discussion about that, earlier before full production after...
yes that would be good, although finding info like that in this thread is getting harder, i saw this comment whilst looking back for some other info, there's that many pages being generated now with all the activity !!
btw, looks like i never got any email to warn of shipping and thus to...
I recieved a letter today from Parcelforce Worldwide.
Saying i have a parcel that has been sent from overseas, and before they will release it to me i need to pay the import duties of £33.39, for information, these break down as follows.
Import VAT £19.89
Clearance Fee (zero rated for VAT...
yeah that's my thinking as well, that's why i'm considering ordering one, because no guarantees i wont w/cool the cpu and gpu, and that res is perfect for it
Import TAX not included in above calcs, and i imagine there are some, you know they like to bend us over at every opertunity
The Silverstone unit also comes with the angled connection cable, that's gotta be worth £10 and then you get a copy of powerdvd with it
so all things considered, it's a...
that is a good deal if ur in the us, $35 shipping to the uk kills it a bit, but scan do have this one at £116 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silverstone-panasonic-uj265-slim-blu-ray-writer-slim-slot-black-for-laptops-and-custom-desktops
here's some more info on that one...
I had issues logging in using iron (chrome) in incognito mode, and yes was using the new login info (after i tried the old first, doh! - must read thigns fully lol) switched to IE and all was ok, got in and updated my info again.
for phone number i used +44xxxxxxxxxx format because i am in the...
i'd be interested in some of these, but will wait till the case arrives and then revisit the options, but if the design is submitted to them it would, i agree, make life easier for ordering, and might cut down the number of queries you get regarding it !
ok, arm twisted - Black one ordered, with the extra top panel (that's a nice option) ....that International shipping sucks lol, but probably not as much as the import tax will sting me later !!
Got a receipt number from the LEXIAO USA site, paid by credit card via paypal, no email confirmation...
Sony Optiarc BD-5850H - thats a BD writer, may however be end of life now and Panasonic used to do one too, i think it was UJ-235A
ok, now for what i was coming here to post.....
Congratulations guys, this is some achievement, and a very nice looking case, it's making me want to grab...
