New motherboard and the problem persists.🤬
The DRAM debug LED is lit and I've tried different DIMMs in different slots even some DRAM from another PC. So it looks like the CPU is toast. RIP 3950x (the most expensive CPU I've ever purchased).
I've sent an RMA since it is just in the 3-year...
My PC isn't booting, it just draws ~60watts from the wall with no beeps or display output. I've tried different GPUs in different slots. Different PSUs, Resetting CMOS, removing battery. Removed the DIMMs It's an X570 system.
Am I missing anything before buying a new mobo?
Got my 3950x setup today! Finally arrived yesterday (think I ordered on the 25th, in the UK). I didn't really expect to see much difference in general usage in windows and chrome (snappy is an understatement). I'm actually looking forward to using it for work.
This is without reinstalling...
^ Ah, the days where all that mattered was overclocks, regardless of how much noise they produced in the process (as I write this the cpu fans are at 700-800rpm and system fans running at 600-650rpm).
I was hoping to get one today, but they're not arriving until next week. I'm #10 in the...
F*ck it, I just brought a 3950x. Should come on the 7th..... (from Novatech UK)
If the date starts sliding I'll go back to plan B: Ordering a 3700x for the weekend, and get a 4950x when they're available (Zen 3 does sound juicy).
1st AMD CPU since an Athlon XP (Barton). 54.3 transistors in...
I spoke to Scan.co.uk who received 4, overclockers.co.uk received 6. They're now showing pre-sales with an estimated delivery of 30th Jan
But the good news, my AM4 mounting kit arrived 30 minutes ago.
edit: Amazon uk never displayed pricing for the 3950x from AMD or other sellers.
You'll have more luck with the manufacturer code: 100-100000051WOF
I've got 5-6 resellers in the UK, but stock and more importantly prices are still unknowns. Had an email notification for £9,999.99. I'm not paying more than £750 I don't NEED this, so we'll see...
PS: Google's page cache is...
10mins is plenty of time, I thought we were talking about 10 seconds. Could even make a coffee in the time.
Ouch, that is one hell of a scathing review! I don't feel sorry for Intel, plus avx512 is standard on modern Xeons. So it just means their XE's have less features needlessly turned off...
Yeah, I agree the TR3000's are overpriced (they seem to be marked up a tier), plus I'm not sure if the bigger Rippers will come out on TRX40's, 64 cpu cores on 4 memory channels doesn't sound great. I also think TRX40 is overpriced as you can buy duel Epyc workstation boards (with 8 memory...
The moment I sent that post there was a power cut, must be a sign...
I did check if the front jacks had a dirty ground (even a crap cable shouldn't be that bad), but I couldn't find anything from the cable's pins (sound card side) to the chassis or USB housing, although I wasn't overly...
I've come across the same issue, and worked out what it is.
Is there more noise on the HD-Audio jack at the front of the computer than the rear of the card? If so your HD-Audio cable sucks and it is picking up loads of interference. So unplug it...
I can't be bothered to test it but I have a...
It's very noble that AMD has honoured the lifetime of AM4 (compared with Intel's shenanigans of a new socket for every other CPU), and it's great that the core-count has rizen so fast, but the memory channels haven't increased, nor has memory speed kept pace. Is dual channel RAM going to heavily...
I just brought some Sony abn100's (h.ear on), I enjoy the sound (they're not neutral), headset works well and the noise cancelling is really good, arguably better than Bose qc35's in loud environments (shop blasting load music/ train station)). They seem to be discounted much more than their...
Thanks Killerbob, I've been tempted to try the deeper blacks of a VA panels, but I don't think I can leave the consistency of IPS.
Kasakka: that's not a bad suggestion. I've I was getting this for gaming then the LG 38UC99 3840x1600 would be a ideal. Nice idea trading vertical pixels for 75hz...
I'm currently using two 24" 1200p montors (HP ZR24w's). The main monitor is in landscape mode and the other is in portrait mode (which works well displaying large text files, and wide tables), plus a 19" for communication and media.
I've had the setup for five years now! I was waiting for OLED...
I tried to complete it on hurt me plenty, but I kept getting stuck on the the boss with the power cell (I tried going through the game twice, but I just didn't have enough ammo or armour). Definitely the hardest part of the game. Easy was a little too easy, I'll play it again with the all the...
I'm @ 4.7ghz using 0.06v adaptive volts (just keep an eye one the voltage, you don't want to go much over 1.4v). This seems to be the maximum with the power saving functions enabled (I use this as a workstation rather than gaming system). I'm also playing around with the turbo boost (1 core 4.8...
Thanks, since it would cost ~£100 to get a new mobo (amazed at the valuations for 5 year old gear), so I decided to get replace it all in the end.
Just the CPU/ mobo & memory (6700k, Asus Z170-a, 2x16GB 2400,mhz) has changed, yet the startup time for some software I've been working on (very...
The issue I have is that this isn't user error.
When Intel announced the recall, I made a conscious decision to write off a couple of sata3 ports (and some possible resale value) over the hassle of RMAing the motherboard.
I've flashed over a dozen motherboards, and I'm careful. Despite taking...
I don't actually buy computer gear to b**ch about it. I don't dislike AMD (I just wish they would give Intel some competition), it turned out it wasn't their fault. When you read about a manafacturer recommending that it's safer to flash BIOS's in Windows over their dedicated tools that they...
It gets better..... I flashed the motherboard to the very latest version, 4.3 (I thought 1.19 was the latest according to MSI's updater). This BIOS is needed to run newer GPU's (so it's not PCIe power afterall). But it turns out that this version kills motherboards (non B3 that weren't returned...
I searched for the invoice and realized the motherboard is over 5 years old (ordered it Jan 2011!), I'm sure that's the longest I've ever used a PC (aside from the SSD, memory & GPU).
It looks like there is a real issue with the power/ PCIE spec. I'll phone the re-seller on Monday, probably...
I didn't list the critical part of the motherboard model it's a MSI p67a gd65 (it's the rev 1 as I wasn't bothered about the 2nd set of sata3 ports having an issue). I have the newest BIOS available.
I believe the motherboard is the culprit (another PSU didn't help), I'll look at getting...
The battery was easier to find without the manual, and the modo also has a CMOS reset switch. I much better way to reset.
Yeah the system works with the 270x (in both x16 slots). I've spent a couple more hours trying to get this to work, but no avail (the front panel connectors were close, so I...
I forgot to mention, I did also try taking the battery out (while unplugged).
The motherboard is using UEFI, but I don't think this is the issue as those report black screens rather than no display output.
I think it must be the motherboard. :(
Hi, my rx 480 arrived today, but... when I plug it in, no screen(s) turn on and there's no beep codes. The fans spin, but they do not spin right up (which normally happens when I reset the machine).
I've tried re-seating it in a known good slot, with different power cables.
I have a 700w Ocz...
I haven't seen any reviews yet, but I just brought one anyway! (I'm sure it's fine)
Edit: Looks like a good deal, was hoping for more overclocking (aka another 9700pro).
Have you tried converting the data to CSV and then importing that? You could go one step further and slice the files into more manageable sizes.
Depending on what you're using, there's some horrible json libraries out there (in terms of speed & memory usage).
