That videocard will not work. It is going to act the same way as the 27" iMac. The only ATI cards that will work are the 6-series cards, the HD5970 and the HD5870 Eyefinity Edition.

It won't work. The only ATI cards that will work are ones that were designed after the HD5970. So the HD5970 and the HD5870 Eyefinity cards are the only 5-series cards that will work. All 6-series cards will work though.

How well do they work? The DisplayPort on my GTX460 just died for some reason so I bought an HD6870 as a temporary replacement, but if I can grab one of these and a GTX580 I'd be a happy man.

If it has a camera it is a fourth generation. If it doesn't, then it is not.

I don't think there are any single slot videocards that will work. No adapter will work, you would need one of the Althona converters mentioned above.

I used an X25-M G1 in my old Santa Rosa MBP which just had Sata 1.5Gbps. It was still plenty fast. Personally I would grab an Indilinx or a Toshiba based drive, as they have great ITGC.

Wow. I didn't know a dual link DVI converter existed yet. Since Nvidia partners don't feel the need to add DisplayPort to their cards I may have to order me one of these.

I really can't recommend using audio over HDMI then using DisplayPort for video. It can work but it is extremely difficult to get it to work reliably. With ATI cards it is almost impossible. Everytime you power off your receiver you may very well spend 30 minutes screwing with it to get it...

I am not sure what it was but I have no problem w/ either card anymore. Not sure if it was a driver issue or maybe the card/cable just wasn't seated right.

I know that DisplayPort audio from an HD5970 to the iMac DisplayPort input works fine. Sounds gets send to my receiver via TOSLINK on the iMac.
