Haha, love the sig machine, you still have it? :D
People seem to be going gaga over the Red Devil, is it even out yet? massive cooler and 3 fans.
That monitor looks good, my Electriq 35" turned up, gotta get used to this ultrawide view, but 3440x1440@100hz is good enough for me.
Just ran a last test, not at home yet. 3dmark timespy
Vram was at 68
GPU hotspot temp on that run was 101 which is a bit high. Was running at 2100 @1.2v
I actually agree with you, my previous GPU's would never get any where near those temps.
normal usage, default settings 100% load, it runs about 65-70 Hotspot, GPU is about 45 i think.
I haven't had the time to do a full test of everything, was trying undervolting a minute ago, but it's...
I did tighten the screws on the block since then :p
I think you'll find that these hotspot(junction temps) on these card are 'normal', even so with a waterblock i was expecting lower, bear in mind that this was at 50% powerboost, and max OC that wattman would allow and running furmark. I think...
Just did a Timespy test, and score seemed a little low in comparison. Checked GPU-Z, and my PCI-E Bus link seems to be fluctuating between x16 @ 3.0 and x16 @ 1.1, might be an issue with the Riser Cable, I'll check that when i get home, i'm running the test remotely from work, so not much i can...
I only gave it a quick test prior to installing the waterblock, plus i had monitor issues(needed a displayport to active DVI-DL adaptor), still looking at replacing the monitor, getting the Electriq 35" Ultrawide(it's the Massdrop Vast sold under a different name)
Hotspot temps are just over...
Installed, and not much better, Wattman crashes all the time also, still not impressed!!!
Chill is a hotkey toggle, never pressed it, i don't think it's enabled.
So, i've installed the 5700xt, waterblock fitted, all up and running. Temps are a little high full load and OC'd but not hitting thermal limits yet.
I miss my Nvidia 980ti already, i mean honestly does AMD's driver team have a clue what they are doing? I'll do a clean install soon just to make...
Apparently there is this:
taken from here:
Looks like the 5950XT is the top end part, but we'll have to wait and see what actually appears and with what specifications/performance.
manufacturing process isn't the be all and end all of performance, Intel still have the performance edge over...
By your own words you are proclaiming an undocumented vapourware product the king and winner of the performance wars, but you asked for criteria of what you base a purchase on? imagination? Once the products actually exists, it can be tested, and everyone will see where it compares to Nvidia's...
Are you trying to hijack this thread? The truth is that AMD right now cannot compete at the high end, it really doesn't matter what 'might' be coming in the future, people aren't buying vapourware from stores, they are buying real products that actually exist.
I'm on a budget, so i bought AMD...
I would have thought that GPU's of a slightly higher price tag (£8-900+) would be considered premium no? The 5700's are priced closer to Nvidia's 'budget' RTX offerings no?
Not that i'm biased at all or anything, but there will always be a strong fan-boyism in topics like these, i do think AMD...
To be fair, if i didn't get such a good deal on he 5700xt, i probably would've bought a 2070S instead, as all in including the waterblock i've paid less than the 2070S FE which is about £475(I've pad about £420 so far).
It's been a while since i've had an AMD/ATI card in my rig so it's about...
That looks like a nice monitor, although i'd rather not buy a new one just yet. My thing for monitors is not to upgrade until the previous one dies, and strictly speaking it's still working.......
I've got a DP to DVI-D DL adaptor in my bag, pinched it from work, i'll see if this works tonight...
Well, it seems as though my monitor has just become EOL!!!! I tried to plug in the 5700xt and realised it doesn't have a DVI connector on it anymore, every GPU previous did...... So i'm limited to 1280x800 unless i purchase an active displayport to dual link DVI-D adaptor, and at the price i...
I didn't think this would start such a heated argument.
I did state a while back that i've purchased a 5700xt (reference design), with the EK waterblock it's cheaper than a 2070 super, so i think i've got a good deal. Temps shouldn't be an issue and the performance should be 'enough'.
Thanks...
Correct, I went 980ti - 970 - AMD 7990(died) - AMD 6950 - 8800GTS - 4870x2 - and a 7900x2 at some point, and more. i'm not loyal to any brand, the brands haven't done anything for me other than charge more per generation for their products. My CPU is AMD, used to be Intel, and i'll probably...
So basically never upgrade?!?!?!? i don't think i'll take that advice! I'm never going to spend £1000+ on a GPU, i don't have that kind of disposable income! But yes i can afford to spend £400 on a GPU which from all reviews and benchmarks should give me a 100%-ish increase in raw GPU performance.
Didn't like the look of the Acrylic fittings, so i've gone with the EK block, should arrive in a week.
No new monitor for me, one thing at a time, besides i'm going to miss my 16:10 aspect ratio :D
I like watercooling, it's fun, most of the time...... i like the low temps too :D
small update...
The cost difference of the 2080S is more than the waterblock will cost, which is too much.
I think i'll go with the 5700XT, it'll be easier to stomach, even the waterblock is cheaper :D
Hi all,
I'm finally getting around to replacing my GTX 980TI, although with childcare and the like, replacing with a 2080TI just isn't in my budget unfortunately.
So i'm trying to weigh up the pro's and con's between the 5700XT and the 2070S. I'll be watercooling whichever i end up getting so...
Done, and running well so far, have some air trapped in the monoblock, but that should clear in time.
Here's a pic, it's nothing too special, still trying to decide on what GPU to buy, spent too much on watercooling stuff, memory issues with mismatched modules(no longer), etc.
I'll fill the...
So, i reckon the problem must be the Mayhem liquid. i'll never use them again, i only picked them as i was short on time in the first place, i guess you live and learn.
Even the Clear Mayhem X1 seems to be blocking the D5 pump, it took a while to kick in today, so i can see it's going stop...
So, another update, i've installed the new(well not new) XSPC reservoir and D5 pump, and it's all working fine again. Left the loop running to get rid of any bubbles and it's almost clear. I haven't mixed the coolant, but i do have distilled water and biocide, so i'll see how it goes.
I have a...
Not sure why that would be a silly question, i'm using Mayhem X1 clear coolant, seems liquidy enough. I was getting really good flow rates for a week and a bit an all of a sudden, zero!
To add to this, i didn't have much chance to really troubleshoot this before i left for work at 5:30am, so...
So, another update, The pump decided to stop working on me..... already!! i got up this morning, turned the machine on, and zero flow whatsoever!! i can hear the pump trying to start and failing.
I know the loop is clean and this is the last straw!! This Alphacool pump and bay Reservoir is a...
OK, i must have had a lot of crap in that loop.
I finally put everything back together again, the Alphacool Bay Reservoir is a little awkward to get going, but my flow rates are now higher than what i've seen with with the old DDC pump, which is awesome!!!!
Cleaned out the rads, scrubbed the...
So, small update, i went to B&Q, got some screw extractors, and with a lot of drilling and sweat got the monoblock apart, there's a lot of gunk in there.
I'm going to switch from UV blue to clear liquid in my loop, so everything is getting a clean, doing the radiators tomorrow, and hopefully by...
It's not the filter, at lest i'm sure of that. I've dismantled the PC, i have 2 screws on my monoblock with mashed heads, can't unscrew them, really annoying!!! might have to drill them out.....
Going to clean out the whole thing, liquid and tubing change. Will take me a while due to the issue...
The flow indicator is flawless, it worked just before i changed pumps, there is also a filter(with a window), and i can see barely any flow coming through it as there are always a few bubbles in it.
Temps are ok idle, but as soon as i push things it's getting a little high. More than anything...
Hi all, have a bit of an issue, let me give you the basic spec
Asus Strix X470F-F Motherbord with EK Monoblock
GTX980TI with EK Waterblock
2x 480mm Radiators
Alphacool Eisfach reservoir with VPP755 D5(ish) pump
Order Reservoir -> CPU - > 480mm rad -> GPU -> 480mm rad -> Filter -> Reservoir...
