I'm not sure if it still does this but mine did that (I think even worse) if I had it set to "prefer maximum performance" in the nvidia control panel. The clocks would stay at the maximum frequency even sitting at the desktop. If I leave it on "Normal" its fine.
Temps are ok but I wouldn't want to live with the fan that high. Just got a 3060 for $331 out the door (open box). Its a plain dual fan ASUS. My advice tweak the card. I only dropped from 170w to 150w with lowering the voltage curve but it is much quieter and a bit faster than stock (I have...
About right I just side graded (open box it was $100 cheaper) myself. For old stuff its on par but it has a good boost with Async compute and DLSS, etc. My timespy GPU score is 15% higher than the 1080ti in the same system. Just tried DLSS 3160x2160 on a 1440p monitor (DSR) and it looked...
Ssd drives (and ram a bit) are expected to drop a good amount over the next 3+months. Easily by 30%+. If you need it though I just got a 2TB with the free game.
I'd hope so I'm taking a chance on the 2nd revision that doesn't have much feedback yet. If it lasts until something better is available I'm good. Only issue is if its a leaky one :(
I've gotten TWO 500GB open box 860 EVOS (m.2) from MC for $80. Better deal. I actually think people are getting the 860 EVO m.2 and deciding why not get the 970 EVO? Both had about 500-600GB written and the full 5 year warranty. I haven't seen any 2.5 in open box deals.
Holding off for winning the lotto or selling the house but I did get a 2nd Ryzen 7 (1800x) since the price dropped so much when threadripper launched :D
I'm running off a B350 too (ASRock b350 matx) just installed a Corsair 110i and added a few hundred Mhz. I've been as high as 4.0 (@ 1.4375) but for some reason monitoring programs never show it to go over about 3850. BTW
Stock cooler 3.7Ghz 1.25v = 81-82C
With the new one I can do 3.9...
Quick settings change from 3.7Ghz 1.25v on the spire to 3.9Ghz 1.375v on water AND still 20-25C cooler :) Its only in 45 min now but its hanging around at 61C.
I have a 6700k and now Ryzen 7 1700 each doing what they are strongest at. Not that it wouldn't game much worse than my 6700k I run everything at 4K. I considered just replacing my 6700k but will let a few revisions go through first (or wait for intel MAINSTREAM 6 core ;) )
EVGA. I think Nvidia has a few makers (I believe Foxconn is one).
I've not seen the Gaming X ever go over 78C usually its 70-72C. Much happier with the new card.
I'm doing my Ryzen 1700 a bit differently more like a server.
- Moving the DVR software off the i5 3570
- Removing all VMs from the 6700k and moving to Ryzen
- Moving 32GB of my 64GB to the Ryzen
- Moving PLEX to the Ryzen
- Moving all spinning drives to the Ryzen
- Cleanup and streamline...
FedEx still says I haven't picked it up! I did ship to store I took a chance even though it "wasn't available for pickup yet" went there and they had it.
Installed my MSI Gaming X this morning WAY better than the FE I had (just returned today). Unsure if it was a bug, bad design or card but I was sitting there a few days ago with NO OC and the FE ramped up to 91-92C and insane fan speeds!
I tweaked the MSI so that it maxes out at about 72C and...
Yep they keep pushing the dates forward. I think they are making sure it doesn't catch fire :D I've see the 250GB evo and 1TB Pro at Microcenter. I didn't want to drop the cash for 1TB pro though. They went really fast.
the 250GB drive actually drops to 300MB/s when the buffer is full (13/22/44GB for 250/500/1TB). For that reason the cheapest EVO I would get is the 500GB model which has a lot more buffer and only drops to 600MB/s.
I'm ok with Crucial too. Its actually funny how many tiers I have now.
- NVME drive for OS. Currently I have a 256GB 950 pro but will probably replace with 500GB 960 evo.
- 500GB Samsung drive for main programs
- 1TB MX300 for secondary programs and images that sync to the cloud
- 6TB NAS...
The 960 Pro is way more powerful than the 950 pro. I'm going to guess the decision was based on being competitive with the upcoming Optane SSD drives. Its a brand new controller which gets much higher iops and less thermal.
I'm really happy I got the one I wanted this time I settled on the 970 I had keeping it quiet I never really over clocked much. This is more quiet under load than the other at idle! With +150 core!
