I found that the case fan at the bottom towards the front actually made a good difference for the mobo and CPU temps. I saw an 8 deg C improvement on average during a full load test. The trick was using good cable management with it. ;)
Both of these were correct! Thanks! Followed the instructions in this video to figure out where to disable it in the ASUS BIOS and to get some more background on the issue:
The TDP "boosts" to 122W for a max 28 seconds according to the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. During these periods of...
My DAN build lives! Finally got all the pieces this weekend except for the shorter cables from cablemod and I do not have a GPU as of yet. I got Windows 10 installed with all the right drivers and utilities, and then ran some tests, which then have me a bit concerned. Here's my build so far...
Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I’ll go ahead and grab this board, as I can get it at a good price from a local source. If I’ve got any issues with the CPU cooler, I’ll post here and can return the board. (y)
Sorry... but still looking for feedback on this: Will the ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I work with the LP53 out of the box, or is removal of the heat sinks on the board needed?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone that has experience with these two in a DAN A4. Thanks!
Let me get this straight.... you were able to get this cooler installed on the M.2 drive located on the backside of the Mobo? :woot: I wouldn't have thought there be enough space for the M.2 and the cooler on the back.
This is the one you used...
It does work, as per Dan's FAQ: https://www.dan-cases.com/dana4_faq.html
I think most people like to have access to the drive without having to remove the mobo. There's also some people that are concerned about cooling of the M.2 if it's on the backside.
Thanks for the link! Nice to see a recent build example and their results.
I stand corrected on the L9i... it is only the Coffee Lake K processors with a TDP higher than 65W that is no good as per the Noctua cooler spec. Oddly enough, the spec does show it’s good with some 91W Kaby Lake...
marktuk - Did you get an answer on if the LP53 would work on the ASUS Strix z370-I without removing the heat-sinks? I've heard of this, but would also be interested in confirming. I'm re-evaluating going with the ASRock board, as availability in my area is terrible where the ASUS is widely...
Awesome. Exactly what I was looking for... it is slightly larger, with lower fan speeds, resulting in a quieter and more efficient solution. Thank you!
Has anyone here tried the ITX30 cooler versus the LP53? Seems like both do the job of cooling up to a 100W TDP, but the ITX30 would fit in an A4 without removing/replacing the fan. Does it work as advertised and is fairly quiet?
Hello! Been a lurker for a while, and here's my first post as I get closer to completing my DAN A4 SFX v2 build. I would like to run my build through here for comment before purchasing (got the case the other day, looks great but now it needs guts), so here it is so far:
CPU: Intel Core...
