I've been using my CX48 with ABSL turned off as a PC monitor (heavy daily use) for almost 3 years and have no burn in. I keep the OLED brightness setting at 20. I also use a black desktop background and dark mode for most applications.
I noticed NVCC allows you to create a custom resolution with more pixels than the actual output. I think for gaming this is pretty equivalent to using the resolution % slider in game settings. I'd be curious to do some comparison testing.
I am helping a friend put together a build that will be used for deep learning. He is going to start off with a single 4090, but may upgrade to a dual card setup.
The motherboard we're using provides only three slots between the PCIe slots, which translates to very little breathing room for the...
I have a CX48 and I love it. It's like an ultrawide except it's also tall. If I was going to buy a new one I'd be inclined to go for the 42" though, 48" is a bit large for regular desktop usage. I find it hard to use the entire screen, the corners are too far away.
I haven't had any issues with...
Excuse me if this is not entirely on the topic of the FW900, but figured I'd ask here as this seems to be the place to discuss CRTs... can anyone point me towards some good CRTs that are appropriate for rooms with lots of ambient light? It seems that the Trinitrons, including the FW900 have...
The Macbook Pro with Retina Display was released over 10 years ago with a 15", 2880x1800 panel. Obviously, it was never intended to be used at 100% scaling, but rather to make text and the UI render beautifully.
For a long time, Windows did not have good resolution scaling, but now it's quite...
Shame to see that there haven't been too many clean case designs in recent years... some of the old Lian Li's must have taken their inspiration from the Power Mac G5 and were quite nice looking.
Even those didn't quite measure up to the G5 case though... always hoped someone would manage that.
Can you explain how you are getting 2560x1920@75hz out of that monitor? The calculator I use says that would require 144khz horizontal, but that monitor only does 121khz. Are you using interlacing or something?
2007FP (NOT FPW) is probably the best option. You can pick them up refurbished on ebay for 150-200. The ones I bought were in pretty much brand new condition, so it's a nice deal.
I only have one GTX 280, but I play it fairly well on my 30". It's definately not great performance, but it's quite playable. I play maxxed out except for view distance, which I have at 22. The view distance slider doesn't really have a significant graphical impact in my opinion - things are...
WOW, thanks so much! I spent a huge amount of time looking for something like this a while back, and never managed to find anything. Now if only I could remember what I wanted it for in the first place....:(
I would suggest this one. I have an identical setup to that shown in your original post, and this is the stand I would choose if I felt the need to buy one. I don't think that the other ergotron linked is actually rated to support that kind of setup, although I know for a fact that this one...
Nope, it's just that 20" 4:3 screens appear to be widescreen when turned in portrait mode. I have this same setup myself, and I can assure you that my 20" displays are not widescreen. They line up perfectly with the 30".
Does anyone know what the most recent WoW article is? I've never managed to find anything more than an Anandtech article from the 6800 / X800 generation...
Is Nvidia cutting support for 7 series cards? I use a 7600GT as a secondary card for my third monitor, and I noticed that it's no longer listed under supported products. I tested it out, and it didn't work with the 180.48 drivers, so I'm switching back. I really hope that I'm not going to be...
Gigabyte will probably be comparable to ASUS in tech support quality. Hands down, EVGA is the best computer part company I have ever dealt with. 24/7 tech support, always with knowledgeable domestic employees, good quality RMA service.
I think a lot of the people that dislike Vista haven't given it a proper chance - if you've used it heavily and still didn't like it, I won't challenge you, but if you've just had brief experiences with it, I'd strongly suggest giving it a try. Personally, I don't find any part of it to be worse...
The problem I see with going the 775 route is that you have no upgrade path - you'll be required to buy a new CPU, motherboard, and ram when you need more performance. With i7, quite likely you'll just be able to upgrade the CPU by itself whenever the next revision comes out.
Oh shit! I completely forgot that Mwave is on ebay! They've got everything up on their store, too - a 920, the P6T or the MSI Platinum, DDR3 kits...
I may be getting i7 sooner than I thought :D
In the GTX 280 system, a QX770 is used. In the X1900XTX system, a FX-57 is used. I've got to imagine that a QX770 would pull more power.

I ordered a GTX 280 for my system, and to my dismay, the box did not include a molex => PCIE 8 Pin adapter. If I were to only connect it with one 6 Pin, would I have some issues? Is there a potential danger in damaging the card if it doesn't get enough power?
I really don't understand why the...
