Those... well those are cheap. I've been thinking about moving away from my all in one and put my storage in a seperate box but was worried about the speed between my SAN and my esxi server. 4gps would be fast enough and it's cheap enough.. Anyone have any experience with these things?
Child,
Thinking of moving from napp-it as my primary storage to Server R2. Thinking of using 4 2TB hard drives as a 3+1 with tiered storage spaces with two columns, with two 120 gig ssd's as a tier then passing it back to esxi via iscsi. Mainly for home experimentation, but I have 5 family...
Wow, is this actually working reliably in esxi 5.5 now? Last I heard it was hit and miss.
Is it now possible to pass through a mid range amd video card and get full sound/graphics via hdmi? I'd currently got my htpc sitting literally directly above my esxi server....
What is meant by a "proper" SMB 3.0 share?
I'm seriously considering going the Server 2012 R2 route. However, I'd want to use the Storage Spaces feature but have not heard overly positive things about the speed with that either.
I'd also like to find a way to share my OneDrive as a...
The permissions things piss me off. I run an ESXI all in one and use Napp-It. The shares permissions "sometimes" works and sometimes does not. Been toying with the idea of moving to Server 2012 R2 but I have a whole data share I'd have to copy over, and I'm not familiar with creating hyper-v...
What is the best way to reset my permissions on shares? For some reason the sub folders in one of my shares only have read access, and the reset acl's don't seem to function the way they used to in previous versions of Napp It.
In fact, NONE of the ACL stuff seems to work in the latest version.
I'm trying to sync one of my network shares to OneDrive.
I've created a symbolic link in my one drive folder to the network share - \\server\documents.
When you first launch OneDrive, it will sync everything properly.
After this initial sync, it stops syncing completey in either direction...
So on the fence about this.
Was looking at the Venue 11 Pro as I love the keyboard with additional battery.
wish the Surface Pro 3 had a more "dedicated" keyboard that's lap friendly ugh.
It's definately the one VM bringing the system down (by system I mean OI and then my other VM's). I was getting a can't write to NVRAM error in VMWare so I tried deleting the file and then powering up the VM. The VM will power up (Win 7) and run for 1-5 minutes, and then it goes down and...
Came home today to no shares. When I go to the napp it homepage and click on disks or pools there is nothing there.
Shut everything down, restart as before.
Same thing. ZFS will load, my SAB VM will load. I can connect to the VM briefly then the whole thing stops working again (clicking on...
So I'm so done with OpenIndiana and Napp-it it's scary. Every 6 months or so, OI will stop working and force me to reinstall OI along with Napp-it, and then I have to recreate my virtual machines etc. Well guess what, the 6 month mark is up, and Openindian loads along with Napp-It, I can...
We've got a massive excel spreadsheet to keep track of ours. Install instructions via webpage, all install media on a server with a custom install .exe file.
I'm in Canda right now, and to access Spotify and Netflix as well as blackout free games I'm changing my DNS servers to tunlr. That being said, if you use it too much as a general DNS they block you for a while.
So I was thinking... why not have custom DNS rules at the router level based on...
Can someone help me with my throughput problem? notice how uneven the graph is and how slow it is at the start? I have a raidz1 array with 5 drives. The image is posted from a Win7 VM on the server itself.
When I run dd bench, I get the following:
Memory size: 6144 Megabytes
write 12.8 GB...
I've got a speed issue now.
In HD Tune running in a VM (win 7) I'm getting a transfer rate of min 0.4, max 299.9 with average of 110. For the first 50% of testing, speed was measured between 2 and 50. When I did a benchmark in napp-it I get
statfile1 15941ops 266ops/s...
Rebooted during a resilver - now the whole system won't boot.
/svc:system/boot-archice:default: Method "/lib/svc/method/boot-archive" failed due to signal KILL.
Ugh.
If I select an older version of Napp-It from the bootup menu, I get:
pool: pool1
state: UNAVAIL
status: One or more...
So did another reboot, and another resilver has commenced. Old drive has been disconnected. Really starting to piss me off.
pool: pool
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices is currently being resilvered. The pool will
continue to function, possibly in a degraded state...
