Assuming cooling isn't an issue, what is the max 24/7 peak core voltage you would set in ryzen master for a 3970x during manual overclocking?
The first game in the newest tomb raider series reboot ran really well at 4k60 on 7970 ghz cards in crossfire too.
I know technically the first 14nm wouldn't have any + being the first edition on it but it's Intel and I find it funny so why not.
7970 ghz in crossfire lasted a long time.
Maybe it will finally have hdmi 2.1
Yeah the noctua cooler can't really handle a 3970x, average temps are 30c cooler now under load with the new water loop.
Yeah I'll have to try OC'ing mine now that the cooling can finally handle it. Those temps are all with stock settings on the card.
It's pretty quiet unless I use all the cores at once, still playing with fan profiles.
Noctua cooler with the 4.15 to 4.275 all core OC......
Same, just mounted it tonight, doesn't seem to go above 36C.
One day maybe ZFS will get block pointer rewrites working.
What other solutions do copy on write, checksum everything, have snapshots that don't take up additional space, don't lose a ton of storage space...
"The benchmarks I've seen do not make ZFS look all that great."
I don't know what benchmarks he is looking at but zfs on my old x79 board with a...
Yeah, more than likely its the replacement to the 9990 not the 9980.
It isn't just a windows problem, can hit similar issues with Linux or any software.
Yeah, probably still a lot cheaper than buying the alienware OLED over a LG though and potentially still the only option for 4k120 over hdmi.
Weird that they never released this one:
Anyone else thinking about the 8k nanocell ones coming out over the OLEDs? I won't be buying any of them until a video card supports hdmi 2.1 though.
If you care about maximizing every bit of performance out of the chip in all core OC mode it seems like it.
Has anyone seen any pricing info on the 8k 65" one?
I haven't pushed my new build yet but on my old one I've had prime95 detect errors after 18 hours.
If you're on a pre-cloud version of lightroom and have a newer camera that needs adobe DNG converter on the raw files before you can import them,...
24h prime95 stable used to be the standard, I still go with that.
Xbox play anywhere or something else?
If you want to overclock the new threadrippers pretty much need a custom loop to manage the heat. I have the Noctua TR/SP3 cooler on my 3970x and...
indexofrefraction I have everything but the watercool heatkiller block, should get that and have it built up later next week.
I would have guessed 5k but they are probably cranking out the 7nm procs and want to take over a lot of market share while they can.
Yeah, that's the only place that confirms it, can't buy it yet and they probably won't release it till their server market supports PCIE 4.0
Moving up to a 3960 or 70x is the perfect time to build your first custom loop. I avoided doing so for years but this is the first time a chip...
My 3970x doesn't throttle till 95c.
40g IB at home is the new 10g, the mellanox 3 40g IB cards can be had for 50 bucks each off ebay.
6-8 years from now when the market is flooded...
I might buy one in 6 years off Ebay, or whatever the highest performing terminal release chip is for trx40 once I move it from my desktop to...
If Microsoft crammed the same parts from the Asus G14 into the Surface Book 3 that would be excellent.
Perfect time to move the 3970x from 64 to 128gb.
That new 8 core 4800h would be pretty awesome in the surface book 3.
B&H has the 3970x in stock for msrp, did everyone that preordered from there get theirs already?
3990 seems very similar to the 2990 being a super specialized CPU with the lower base clocks. 3960/70 seem to be the sweet spot if you still want...
LTT did a video on a dual xeon build with ebay parts recently.
I have a pile of EK parts still waiting for watercool to ship the heatkiller I ordered while they were on vacation.
BeOS... thats a trip down memory lane, I remember that having a super polished installer and GUI for the time. Compatibility with peripheriphals...
