    Increasing Wi-Fi Range

Either setup would work assuming the coax is all connected together via splitters. You just need one adapter per location you want to access it if that makes sense.

    Increasing Wi-Fi Range

Sounds like the quote of someone who doesn't actually want the work. G.hn over coax is another alternative that's a little cheaper than MOCA adapters BUT it requires the coax be dedicated to it (it cannot share the line with cable tv for example like MOCA can). I've been going through this...

    Increasing Wi-Fi Range

Every manufacturer is going to have slightly different implementation of wireless bridges. Based on a quick google search it actually appears your specific router does not support wireless bridge mode (but other netgear routers do). I could be wrong, others more familiar with it may know more...

shopping for new ISP need advice on internet speed options

For your purposes Cat5e or Cat6 ethernet cable shouldn't make a difference but given I think they are roughly the same price you might as well get Cat6 (technically it's less susceptible to interference but not sure how much that translates any real world difference). I typically just get the...

New “Build”: buying prebuilt adding GPU?

I missed what GPU it came installed with. Sounds like a win-win then and solid setup for the intended purpose.

    Increasing Wi-Fi Range

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you want all the access points working in the same "ecosystem" with one management interface, then no. Could you probably piecemeal multiple devices together and create wireless bridges with it? Yes, assuming your router is capable, but...

This might be a dumb networking question, but...

Looks like it is the first gen google wifi device. I don't have any experience with these but it sounds like you set it up correctly. My understanding is you setup the first device, one ethernet port becomes the WAN port, the other is a LAN port. Then you setup the second device and both of...

New “Build”: buying prebuilt adding GPU?

I'm not familiar enough with them, but depending on the vendor would swapping out a video card void your warranty? I'm picturing one those "do not break or your warranty will be void" stickers on the case that prevents you from opening it (if you care about the warranty).

    Increasing Wi-Fi Range

The biggest advantage of using the same SSID is your device will handle roaming between the access points without user input. It should be relatively seamless on the user end and will latch on to whatever has the strongest signal.

    Verizon FIOS / Moca Network

Good to know. Seems like once I get the chance I'll start this out small and simple to prove the concept before I purchase too many moca adapters. I'll update the thread when i do.

It would be helpful to understand what the "wireless hubs" in order to troubleshoot. You mentioned "comcast mesh units"? Is there a model number or something on them you can google? Is this an apartment setup or a home? Do you know where the ONT is? Typical fiber setup os ONT -> Router -> Any...

    Verizon FIOS / Moca Network

I think i'm slowly starting to understand this more. According to DSL reports the verizon router includes two MOCA bridges. -A MOCA WAN bridge which provides coax connectivity between the ONT and the router. -A MOCA LAN bridge which provides connectivity between the router and the Verizon...

    Verizon FIOS / Moca Network

Thanks for the reply. My understanding of the verizon STB is that it relies on both the coax from the ONT and the moca network for full functionality so I cannot separate them. If the STB is connected direct to the ONT it will work but the guide on the STB won't populate as it relies on the moca...

    Verizon FIOS / Moca Network

The existing network consists of a verizon router (G3100) connected to the ONT via coax. Verizon limits the coax connection to 100mbps/100mpbs. Primary goal is to connect a router to the ONT via ethernet for increased speed (200mbps/200mbps) and also allow the use of my own router (Unifi Dream...

    2500k Upgrade Build

I've been sitting on this one a bit and now I'm debating the cooler. I'm looking at two options. -H100i v2 (240mm radiator) mounted up top as exhaust -H115i (280mm radiator) mounted up front as intake Any thoughts? I'm hoping to hit 5ghz on the 8600k. The H100i v2 is the safe bet as it will...

    2500k Upgrade Build

The Taichi was a close second for motherboard but in the end I decided I liked the look of the gigabyte board better and [H] had good things to say about overclocking with the Gigabyte Gaming Ultra. I've never used an ASRock board but people seem to say good things about them. I still go a...

    2500k Upgrade Build

I'll take a look at those, thanks. I've really only used Corsair cases in the past so I'm new to the Fractal Designs cases. There seem to be a lot of variations of similar cases (Define C, R4, R5, R6, etc.) so I'll need to dig into them a bit more. The main reason for picking the Meshify C was...

    2500k Upgrade Build

Its time to upgrade from the 2500k I've been running at 5Ghz. I'm seeing high processor utilization with the GTX 1080 that is overclocked to 2.0Ghz so I'm looking to smooth things out a bit and increase minimum FPS. I'm pretty set on an 8600k, I'm not convinced that for gaming the 8700k is worth...

    Low 802.11AC connection speeds

I just upgraded my home network to an Edgerouter X and a Unifi UAP-AC-PRO. My main goal was to increase reliability and also to upgrade to AC for the increased speed in local file transfers. I setup the UAP-AC-PRO and tested everything in a before and after situation and everything was as...

    Black screen at boot

I've narrowed the problem down to the graphics driver. Running version 335.23 (default driver for windows 8.1) everything runs fine. When i try to update the driver it installs ok, but when I restart I get the spinning circle for loading windows, then just a black screen. I can't get to the...

Can't take ownership of a folder?

The folder is not related to Windows backup, it's one I created. It is a local disk in a drive bender pool. I've been trying everything with an admin account also, but I'll try safe mode next. If that doesn't work, is there a way to change permissions using a Linux live CD?

Can't take ownership of a folder?

    Slow network transfer speeds

I knew overhead was bad, but I didn't think it would be that bad. There isn't an interference or anything and both have strong signal. Trying to stream video is nightmare over the connection. 310.54 - Intermittent Resume from Sleep Issues
