Well, it's time for a complete upgrade. I spent some time on researching, price cutting, etc., so here's the build I came up with.
A few notes: I'm using my harddrive from my current system; and I plan on overclocking the CPU to about 2.4GHz.
Thanks for your comments/suggestions!
Hmm, this has been happening for 2 weeks now. My computer will just... crash: the mouse will freeze up, I can't click on anything, it's like I'm looking at a picture. The thing is that my PC clicks when it does this. I have no idea where it's coming from and all I know it that it clicks and then...
This started happening tonight on a constant 30 min. timer. However, this only happens when I'm gaming.
My PC with shut down comepletely. No notice. No "send error report" when it reboots. Nothing. I'll be playing a game and boom, it restarted. Couldn't be a virus, just did a check... did all...
Well, after much debating... this is my list as of now.
CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra - [Mobo]
COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 - [Case]
The two best reasons to buy an Alienware are:
1) Brag to your friends.
2) The case.
The one best reason not to buy an Alienware is:
1) How much money you're going to spend.
Overall, I am jealous, and that was the point, right?
I'm not ignoring you. Half of the parts were suggestions from you guys. I'm just trying to cut costs anywhere I can. I can't build a $2,000 computer like some people on here. Money doesn't fly out my ass.
Well, I'm going with this PSU. It's buy a respectable brand and it has a blue neon light... to go with my other neon light... although, the case I've picked doesn't have a side window. Heh.
EDIT: Nevermind, yes it does... it's late.
Case - [Yea, I decided on the $50 CoolerMaster, just because it's less "woo, look at me" and it's more sharp, and classy, heh.]
Well, I've thought about all your suggestions, and I'm going to post an updated list in a moment. I've made an account at ZZF, because, well, somethings are cheaper there and some have free shipping (thanks Viper). I thank everyone for their help.
And, if you're going to wait on the 7800's, you wouldn't want to go SLi... most likey (I'm not sure, don't flame me) it'll take up two slots because of the cooling on the thing, but sources have said that it would beat a 6800U SLi set-up alone.
Although, if you were going to wait for...
Eh, going with a X800XL, although awesome and of course I'd want it, puts me at $800 with the case, the MB Viper reccomended, the DVD burner xXaNaXx suggested, the fan, the Corsair RAM, CPU, and the vid card. I've decided to leave out the sound card for now as I can always get one later...
Well, this summer I plan on building my 2nd computer.
My set-up right now is getting a little dated and I'm running into some slowdown during HL2, Far Cry, etc. so I wanted to update. My current set-up is 32-bit so I wanted to cross that line into 64-bit world, heh. But anyways, here's my...
Actually, I was kinda looking into what you guys had in mind for me. As I said, I'm really not knowledgeable about motherboards so can ya help me out?
Now that I think about it, I would like to get into the 64-bit mobo's but a question first: will Windows XP and all it's programs work right...
That reason I don't want a 1.8?GHz is that I already have one. Heh. I wanted to improve.
I didn't notice that the 6800 was around the same price, thanks for pointin' that out!
(And you were right, I have 2700 RAM because I have a 1.8 CPU right now...)
I am all confused about this 64-bit...
