    Ugly GPUs

You know... I actually don't hate that. It would look kinda neat in a setup with that Trident Z Royal memory with the shiny heatsinks and a vertical mount.

microcenter in Marietta had 12 cards sold like vapor

I don't recall the price tag on the 2080 Ti being that big a deal breaker for the folks who wanted one bad enough to spend all night camping in a parking lot.

    EBay RTX3080 LOL

Best offer seems like it'd be pretty easy to abuse, too, unless there's some minimum level of buying history you have to have. You make an offer that's high, but plausible (say, $2000?) and then ghost on the seller, and make them wait around for days hoping you'll pay.

    EBay RTX3080 LOL

Wait, he'll ship the card 4-5 days after getting it in the mail? Is he gonna take it out and use it for those 4-5 days? WTF?

What is Official 3080 Sales Time For Thursday?

Dang, EVGA's website is just outright down this morning. So, did anyone actually manage to buy one, or did they all get bought up by bots to scalp on ebay for $3K?

    After Ampere Launch Survey

I still think a 3080 Ti is a possibility, maybe around April or May of 2021, so I'm holding off for a while. I can live with my 2080 Ti until then.

PSA: Measure Twice - Order Once

I have a Core P5, and it actually is possible to have problems with the size of graphics cards if you use it the way they intended with a tube reservoir between the motherboard and radiator space.

PSA: Measure Twice - Order Once

Wow, that thing is like, impractically big. Just imagine how big a 3090 is likely to be. Edit: This makes me miss CaseLabs even more. They're the heroes we need now, if not the heroes we deserve.

1080ti blank/blue/green screens crashing or white squares crashing/rebooting

Do you have a known-good power supply you can test with, or a known-good system you can test it in? That power supply is perhaps marginal for that setup, but it should be OK, assuming it's healthy. More importantly, what you're seeing here isn't really characteristic of a failed power supply...

Something tripped breaker. Pc was on idle.

Yes. Any failure that creates a short between the hot wire and neutral wire coming out of the wall will cause the breaker on that circuit to trip. It is possible for this to happen inside any switching power supply, whether it's of the brick type that monitors use, or an ATX type like you'd...

    EVGA Announces their Ampere cards

They're absolutely worth it if the game you play is 3DMark. Especially the Kingpin model offers a lot of extra features that are useful if you're using sub-ambient cooling like liquid nitrogen or chilled water. But for the typical gamer, you're not really getting any value for the extra $500+...

    3080 10g and 4k

With a 2080 Ti at 4K, I haven't found any instances where its 11GB of memory obviously isn't enough. I assume that will change eventually, but it's not presently the case, as far as I know. I've heard some rumblings that maybe the new MS Flight Simulator calls for more than that if you go ham...

    EVGA Announces their Ampere cards

Yeah, I keep meaning to make a thread about it, but I'm way out of sync with posting those. The physical repair was pretty easy once I managed to get the right part, all the way from the factory nvidia bought them from in Shenzhen. I haven't been able to fix the boost logic yet, but it...

The headphones are fine. If that's the deal breaker for you, you won't like VR games anyway.

Which VR headset to buy in 2020?

Most HMDs are clearly not intended for you to bring your own headphones, although the OG Vive does seem to support this. Most others have built-in headphones that aren't really removable that would be in the way if you tried to use a different pair of headphones. You can do it with SteamVR...

The great video card dump of 2020 has begun!!!

Man, are you being paid by nvidia to post this? The more you buy, the more you save! Am I right, guyz?! First, until benchmarks are available, it's pretty irresponsible to go around telling everyone you know that anything besides a 30 series card is obsolete and that they need to just throw...

The great video card dump of 2020 has begun!!!

I sold one of my 20 series cards for a pretty good price over the weekend, but it had very little to do with the 30 series. I just wasn't using it. I'm glad I sold it when I did, though, holy cow. I'm holding on to my 2080 Ti for now, though. We'll see what performance of these new cards is...

    EVGA Announces their Ampere cards

Hey, you're right. I would assume that it's because they didn't have space on the board. I spent a bit of time repairing an RTX 2080 that had had a choke ripped off, and one thing I noticed while I was working on it is that there actually is a section of the board dedicated to just the USB...

Graphics Card Necromancy: EVGA 980 Ti SC (Reference Board)

Ugh, I'm sorry about the radio silence on this. I eventually got the new power stages in hand, and had a brutal time soldering them onto the board. If you look at the photo with the power stages removed, you'll see that there are three large pads on the underside of each one, and then forty...

Micro Center in-store EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC Hydro Copper Overclocked $599.99

I bet you could find a used setup pretty inexpensively. Failing that, XSPC is what I'd look at. You need at least a pump (with a housing of some sort like a tube reservoir) a radiator, some fittings and tubing.

    RX580 Connection issues

Don't do this! Most graphics cards actually wire up half of the VRM to one power connector, and the other half to the other. Nvidia cards have elaborate balancing circuitry to keep the connectors' input current at the proper ratio, but many AMD cards don't, and just wire the connectors up...

Something tripped breaker. Pc was on idle.

Nah. The power supply has its own built protection - if anything in the PC failed to cause this, the power supply would have shut it down before the circuit breaker tripped. Your machine is fine. Test all the components like you would with anything you intend to sell as working, and then...

    RX580 Connection issues

Are you sure your power supply only has one 8 pin PCI-E power connector? Unless it's very old, it would be pretty unusual for a 700W power supply to only have one these days. Edit: As others have said, it's not the best idea to try to run this card on just one of the power inputs. You'll...

GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD GPU BURNT INTEGRATED CIRCUIT || HELP!

Maybe $50? For reasons that elude me, you can sometimes get a shockingly high price for dead graphics cards when selling them on ebay, but this unsurprisingly skews heavily toward newer cards.

GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD GPU BURNT INTEGRATED CIRCUIT || HELP!

Digi-key and Mouser are my go-tos for PCB components, with the obvious caveat that they don't carry everything. Ebay and Aliexpress are good options too, if you strike out elsewhere. You'll need a multimeter to test for continuity. You have to use the ohms mode, not the short detection, which...

GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD GPU BURNT INTEGRATED CIRCUIT || HELP!

As Gigabite says, it would unusual to have an IC fail like this for no reason at all. You'll want to order at least a few of these in case you blow it out again, but you can test for a dead short to ground by removing the dead component and check the the resistance to ground on its output pads...

Mine is water cooled, but it gets up to about 50. One thing I noticed is that I have a hard time staying above 2000 MHz in this game, I usually don't in other games. Edit: 50 is maybe a little higher than I'd see in most other games, but not like, dramatically so. I've not played a lot of...

    2080 Ti Fan Issue?

Is the Y-splitter you talked about a part of the card that comes with it from the factory, or something you rigged up later? The fans are supposed to run at 100% if the PWM signal is not present, so if they work properly when plugged in directly, then the first thing you should suspect is that...

Same. I'm on a 9900K/2080 Ti, but at 4K, I only see less than 50FPS when the view changes from one thing to another, like showing the map/inventory menu thing, or when it shifts from one vantage point to another during cutscenes, and I think that just has to do with the way Precision's...
