AMD 23.7.1 Drivers - Major FPS Boost in The Last of Us & Forza Horizon 5

With 23.7, I finally think my 7900 XT is stable with a dual monitor setup. I faced no issues my RX 6600 previously.

Not right now. Wait out and let DDR5 ecosystem settle in.

That's being silly actually. There is a world beyond gaming and there are many scenariors where this chip competes with an i7-6900K.

    Video Card Recommendations For Linux

AMD binary driver (Catalyst) is completely fine if you're using distros like Ubuntu 12.04. But if you'll be using a bleeding edge distro like Arch, you'll have to stick with nVidia. Because Catalyst lags behind every time a new X.org is released. AMD open source drivers are great for what they...

AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Video Card Review @ [H]

Testing more games would have positively affected the conclusion. May be [H] didn't get enough time. Techreport has done a good review. http://techreport.com/articles.x/23150/1 They've included factory OCed versions of HD 7950, GTX 670 and GTX 680 as well.

AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Video Card Review @ [H]

Would have loved if Skyrim was included. I checked out Skyrim benchmarks at Toms and Techreport. Seems like HD 7970 is faster in that game now. I think AMD has finally done a good job with Catalyst 12.7 beta. AMD has got their mojo back. But both companies aren't doing anything to bring...

Stuxnet Virus Engineered by U.S. and Israel

I seriously doubt whether the bold part is true. Not refuting anything else and Iran's involvement with other terrorist groups though. Iran = Shia. al-Qaeda = Sunni and al-Qaeda has always been anti-Shia. Most likely funded by Pakistan/ISI at various points. If there's any country that...

    Trinity in the Flesh...or Silicon

Battery life looks fine for me. I'd take one if the price is right. GPU slightly slower than Intel HD 4000 graphics in one or two games. But let's be fair to AMD - they've got better drivers than at least Intel. Usually faster by a fair margin, but still could have expected more from the GPU...

    Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin

Though Unity is not my preference, Canonical has almost got it right this time. Unity in 12.04 is good, especially with HUD. It's amazing to see how it has come forward in 18 months. What people need to realise is, not every usable desktop design has to be a Windows 95 clone.

Athlon x4 631 AMD strike back?!!!

You already have a LGA 1155 (H61 chipset) motherboard form what I read. If I was you, I'd pick up i3-2100 or spend a bit more for i5-2320.

AMD - drop the price on the 7970 neeeow

yup. I agreed on it. AMD comes up with more bloopers. :) But my next card might still be an AMD one. Viewport issues in nVidia and AMD is much faster at brute-forcing hashes. I'd be on nVidia if gaming was my only priority. It's a top priority, but not the only.

AMD - drop the price on the 7970 neeeow

I'll completely agree on the launch day drivers part. But for games, both companies come up with bloopers time to time. AMD more so, one can argue.

Why Linux on the Desktop Isn't Dead

I can understand the frustration about Unity. People who have been using Ubuntu/GNOME 2.x since long are not going to like it at all. Same for GNOME 3. I'm not an Ubuntu user but I fully support what Canonical is doing - taking a risk and trying to carve out a niche for themselves which...

Why Linux on the Desktop Isn't Dead

I've introduced many people to Ubuntu (first timers). Honestly, each and every one of them has liked Unity. You don't have to mess around with drivers in these distros except nVidia/AMD proprietary drivers. You plug in a printer - it works. You plug in a USB Wifi or Bluetooth dongle - it works...

    Why did you buy Bulldozer?

A friend of mine needed IOMMU. So, he purchased FX-8120 + 990FX motherboard. Intel K series processors don't support VT-d. As far as I am concerned, I waited for FX-8120 and then purchased i5-2500k.

AMD Radeon HD 7970 Video Card Review @ [H]

Performance will increase with new drivers over the period of time. Price will settle down too. At the moment, the yields suck and AMD needs some money. It's understandable. When is Kepler arriving?
