What Mouse and Keyboard Are You Using Right Now?

I just picked up the steelseries apex pro. The per key adjustable sensitivity is a thing of beauty. The switches feel like mx speeds. Really liking this keyboard coming from the k70 rapidfire. So many less typos now.

WD Easystore 14TB External Harddrive $199

In my ~25 years of experience with raids, I've hard far less issues with true software raids. The only raids I've lost were from PEC controllers. I've had issues with hardware controllers locking up under heavy IO (3ware 9650) that took them months of troubleshooting and me fighting with them...

WD Easystore 14TB External Harddrive $199

bout 15tb on em so far, no complaints. The ds1618+ is nice, no issues with the drives, got sab, sonarr, and radarr running in containers on it. not going to hesitate to add 2 more when available.

WD Easystore 14TB External Harddrive $199

Nah I meant software issues like PEC controllers horking a raid and not being able to recover, but those fall into the garbage category. They're still initializing. I don't think these have any trouble in the synology unit. It hasn't complained about anything yet

WD Easystore 14TB External Harddrive $199

I figured you were talking about controller software issues. If a controller fails, replace the controller, and generally all is well. If there's a cable issue, there will be crc errors and the controller should report. waiting for next sale to have some staggered spin up times for the last...

WD Easystore 14TB External Harddrive $199

Then you're working with garbage controllers. Even linux md is quite reliable and avoids the 'black box' of a controller failure scenario all together.

    Corsair K70 Low profile switches

After going through 3 K70 MK2 rapidfires, I'm back on the MK1. The repeating keys drove me crazy. No issues like that on the MK1. Still hunting for a keyboard :( Wanting something like the new logitech 815 clicky, except with a decent wrist rest and not spring bar keys.

    Logitech low profile keyboard G915

I just tried one of these. Didn't feel too bad, but the clicky version clicks on the way down and the way up due to click bar. On the plus side, no clack on the way up or down.

Dayton Audio 18" Ultimax Subwoofer Driver / GSG Audio DIY MartySub Enclosure Sale - 16Hz!!! Feel It!

The enclosure will do just fine with the um18, as has been proven many times. It's about 11 cubic feet net internal volume. Assuming nothing in music is below 36hz is naive just because of a bass guitar. Get out with that nonsense. It's not like these are being used just for music either...

Dayton Audio 18" Ultimax Subwoofer Driver / GSG Audio DIY MartySub Enclosure Sale - 16Hz!!! Feel It!

Dayton Audio 18" Ultimax Subwoofer Driver / GSG Audio DIY MartySub Enclosure Sale - 16Hz!!! Feel It!

Everything in this post is pretty much rubbish. That said, this isn't a deal. The um18-22 was just on sale for $235 like 3 weeks ago.

    Corsair K70 Low profile switches

Yep. Now I'm on one of the logitech solar powered ones. Gotta say this thing has taken some serious abuse in my shop. I'm amazed it's still going. I had a key pop off at some point and logitech sent me an entirely new kb to replace it instead of just a key.... I just got a key off ebay to...

    Corsair K70 Low profile switches

I used the rosewill clear ones on the k70 mk1. I had like a dozen leftover that I put on some keys of the mk2 lp. Prime delivering a new set on Monday so I can finish it off. They're soft and about 2mm thick. It feels like it's smoothing up slightly after more use? The overall feel aside...

    Corsair K70 Low profile switches

The k70 mk1 takes almost no pressure to activate. The mk2 low profile takes a good deal more. I think it's breaking in, but it's taking it's time about it. Will continue using it for a bit and see if it improves the rest of the way. The reason I'm having to hit the keys harder is because...

    Corsair K70 Low profile switches

Got one of the low profile rapidfire mk2 k70s. I have the original rapidfire k70 as well. I used the mk2 for a day and I'm back to the original. The key presses are not smooth and it feels like it requires a good deal more effort to type on. I noticed fatigue much sooner with the new low...

    Replacing Op-Amps in a Topping D10 DAC

would be nice to have a good 18 to recommend to people... i just hope they have more motor force than the ht1, which is pretty weak. rofl, did you see their motor came apart on some neo driver in another thread? bolts too short.... least they're making it right

    Replacing Op-Amps in a Topping D10 DAC

xmech is around 45mm, which is nice for the low end, but the upper end is not so great. Even more so, an 18 only needs 30mm excursion for same displacement, and a 21 only need about 22mm. It's an interesting driver for small sealed enclosures, but otherwise there are much better options.

    Replacing Op-Amps in a Topping D10 DAC

No, the problem was in the motor itself. They were scrap. The shorting rings were not properly glued inside. The off-axis in general on the b&w is bad. This is due to component choice and crossover frequency. The resonances are from the transducer itself, not the enclosure. The surround...

    Replacing Op-Amps in a Topping D10 DAC

They're pretty bad. Great Abbey road uses it, but they're not in the majority of studios, not even close. Maybe you need to read a little more on what makes a good speaker. Try the works of Olive and Toole. The 800D has bad on and off axis response and ranks low in blind testing for this...

    Replacing Op-Amps in a Topping D10 DAC

lol, no, they're not. The only time B&W end up in studios is for marketing stunts. Most studios will be using active monitors from JBL, Genelec, etc. Their FR is bad, their off axis is bad, dynamics, time alignment, etc. none good.

You can put together some JBL stuff for cheaper than the SH50s that will best them if you're ever interested. I've converted a few people who had SH50s. I demoed them in my room at one point many years ago and they just didn't cut it. The detail was just lacking. I'm using some of the JBL...

    Replacing Op-Amps in a Topping D10 DAC

I have a motu 8a in one of my systems that I used for some extra IO. It uses a lower end 9016 multichannel dac. I measured it and distortion was non existent until signal levels were pushed real high. Something like 0.00002% THD on the bench. When pushed to right below clipping it...
