Is XFX ending their lifetime warranty?

Mostly, I was just trying to brainstorm some reasonable limit. I personally only go single card, but I know there are or were many gamers who do SLI or Crossfire with up to 4 cards. And there's also the chance that someone just has bad luck. Which is why I also said the thing about looking at...

Is XFX ending their lifetime warranty?

As an addendum, you could also offer enterprise warranty options for heavy users who want to burn through tons of cards mining or whatever, at an increased cost / year that makes it sustainable for you as a business.

Is XFX ending their lifetime warranty?

Hi, I know I may be a little late to this thread, but I just want to chime in by saying that I think this is a poor solution to the problem. The lifetime warranty is a huge marketing tool. Before I bought XFX cards, I bought Visiontek on account of them also offering lifetime warranty. Then I...

    Wiring issues with new setup

Hey, if you have something simple like an mp3 player to hook up to them, i would do that to test that everything got hooked up again right. If they get stereo that way, then they're either hooked up wrong or the soundcard isn't outputting right. If they don't, then the amp in the speakers is...

Games that don't have Fisheye with Eyefinity?

Well the fisheye is plain disgusting. I tried it and a canvas is FAR FAR preferable. I tried Dragon Age 2 again ("gold" certified game). It was fun for about an hour as long as I didn't try to move between the tactical and FPS view like I always did in DAO in single-monitor mode and kept the...

    Frustrated beyond belief with Eyefiinity

He wasn't stating that as a question, he was stating it as a ... "captain obvious" fact. Nvidia's implementation is more limited because it physically can't work on a single card. ATI allows 3 monitors on one card through use of the display port so your statement asking why ATI didn't do it...

Games that don't have Fisheye with Eyefinity?

Put more succinct, basically what I'm saying is that everyone here defending fisheye is misinterpreting the point of multi-display gaming. Traditional gaming is based on the premise of flat, straight on canvas perspective, where you see something and you use the mouse or kb to rotate the screen...

Games that don't have Fisheye with Eyefinity?

Well here is what I'm saying. If you're in a car, vehicle, airplane, etc... when you look out a window or whatever, you're usually still looking straight ahead. So even though you're moving, you turn your head and you're still looking straight ahead. Presumably with an eyefinity display people...

Games that don't have Fisheye with Eyefinity?

Well I think a big part of the problem is that the human eye is not a camera. It doesn't fish eye with things on your peripheral vision. Don't believe me - take a pencil or pen, horizontal or vertical. Stare straight ahead and see if you notice and difference in size as you move it across - it...

    Eyefinity Problem

I also just setup eyefinity on tri-monitors. It's awful and seems like no games really support it well. The ones that display ok don't take nice to handling the camera with it (moving/rotating). The others stretch everything out and just make it look like crap. You get marginal extra...

Games that don't have Fisheye with Eyefinity?

Ok, I've been gone from hardforums for a while but I came back because I was trying to set up an eyefinity display and everything is IMO crappy. I consider all this FOV talk silly. This is all digital. They should just be able to make a 3-camera array and tell the game to automatically set the...

    Laptop overheating/Locking Up

Poser is a beast when it comes to what it's processing needs are. Not very optimized for animation. Does it actually crash or does it just lock? Often for rendering a machine will get unresponsive and you just have to let it run until it finishes. Another option is to split the animation into...

HP TouchSmart tm2t or other tablet?

...or one designed with a detachable keyboard like some of them are starting to. Why are insistent that having an irremovable keyboard is ideal over something that's focused on being a slate?

HP TouchSmart tm2t or other tablet?

  16. S

HP TouchSmart tm2t or other tablet?

Yes, and the slate tablets based on the low-power c2d or atom are to be between 1-2 lb. Where do you think all the fat is? It's in the unnecessary hinges, extra plastic/materials, keyboard, touchpad, and associated structural design necessary for a laptop that are entirely unneeded for a slate.
  17. S

HP TouchSmart tm2t or other tablet?

Either way, it's going to have to be really thin to justify having the junky keyboard attached to it. I would much rather just use a pure slate and my BT keyboard if needed, which is way higher quality.

HP TouchSmart tm2t or other tablet?

If I want a bulky tablet, I would just get a Cintiq or Intuous + laptop. The whole point of a tablet is a compromise between Wacom functionality and portability. That Asus tablet looks like it could be what I'm looking for if it's executed properly and they don't gimp it like all the other ones...

HP TouchSmart tm2t or other tablet?

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if they took this and tore off the touchpad and keyboard and just had it a straight tablet, I would buy it. I don't care that it wouldn't be as thin as an iPad. None of the standalones are even remotely as powerful as this.

Where to get Swan monitors in Canada?

Yeah, USPS also actually fulfills insurance claims when you ship international, whereas Fedex and UPS will almost never give you your money back unless you're a major corporatation.

CDex is terrible and butchers music (back when I actually tried using it). Use any halfways standard encoder these days and it should do a much better job. Heck, even itunes would probably sound better.

    An alternative to "pc speakers"

Blu-jeans looks like they make fantastic cable, but when I can get the same high quality cables for $15 shipped from monoprice that would cost me $80+ at bluejeans, that's where my wallet goes. There are some things you should invest a lot in for a sound system. #1 - Speakers #2 - Subwoofer...

My only modification there is this 40Wx2 Pyle amp instead: http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PTA2-2x40W-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B0013CDZDI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1252207511&sr=8-2 but there's tons of good options for cheap passives out there.

Audio system for a PC in a dorm room - build up or buy a package?

Look at the Energy Take Sat's. They go down to 80hz respectably and are very thin/small. Wall-mountable. You could get a couple of those cheap off amazon or ebay and a receiver. Then you could either fill them out with more sats or go for the full energy towers if you wanted...

    New 2.0 system need help.

I'd get a good pair of passives and a cheap stereo mini-amp since you could then migrate them to surrounds or add more speakers down the line. You can't really do that with Actives (and my biggest qualm with them).

    Swans D1080 Problem

how loud are you running them? it could be the amp is bad and is shutting down or there could be a short or other problem in the circuitry causing that. I'd contact (audioinsider?) and see about getting it repaired/replcaed.

    Help me please

Find a receiver and sub to match with the speakers. The sub is the weak link on the Ultras so it'd be pointless to buy a whole new pair just to get another sub that in all likelihood may blow out on you again.

can someone recommand me a headphone amp and a Dac or a combo

Pyle make some cheap stereo mini-amps in the 15W, 40W, and 75W varieties. There's two model 75W versions that are slightly different. All except one of the two 7W amps have a headphone out so you could probably get one of those. They're pretty small, but it depends what you consider portable...

    Help me please

For a little more clarity on the topic, speakers are a lot like furniture. Even cheap plywood will last a long time treated properly. Something that's hard oak and well constructed will last a long time. Once you get out of the pc speaker range, speakers for the most part use very old...

    Help me please

FRZ, the quality of speakers has very little to do with age. The Klipsch Ultras are great compared to computer speakers, but they are still just computer speakers. This means that the lower mid is cutoff (120hz on this model so it's not too bad, but it's nothing special). If you want a new...

    Help me please

Based on the newegg pics, the speakers on the ultras just use standard speaker cable. All you need is a receiver and a replacement sub, though you prob won't be able to use the control terminal. But that would probably be a better starting point for you. Look for a used receiver on ebay and /or...

    xonar/windows volume increments?

Try a different keyboard if you can to make sure it's not an issue with how the Saitek is reporting keypresses. I have a Xonar DX which should have a very similar driver and pressing up/down does 1 increment as it should (I don't have a Saitek though). There may also be some windows setting you...

    New 2.0/2.1 setup - which speakers/soundcard?

What you could do is get a stereo receiver possibly off ebay, that would cost you somewhere $80-150 or so if you find a good deal. Could run up to $200 though in which case you'd probably be better off getting a full surround receiver.
  39. S

    New 2.0/2.1 setup - which speakers/soundcard?

You misquoted me. If that was the only thing I said then you'd have a point. The Xonar DX is very similar to the higher end cards, but with fewer extras (like fancy digital connections yadayada), but the DAC's on it are actually very good. Compared to a Creative X-Fi or onboard the Xonar DX...

    Got my A5's today.

Yeah, hooking up to onboard should be fine to test. You don't want to hook it up the sub to the back of the A5 because the A5 is not a receiver and neither is the sub, however a good soundcard is designed to do very similar things to a receiver and should provide you with overall better...
