Some do, some don't. I have WCG going all the time at least to a certain degree.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

If you really want to see how it holds up in between weeks, run some PrimeGrid work units through it. They will stress it harder than anything WCG can throw at it...lol.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

Nice job guys. Use this time to tweak and make necessary adjustments. This is a great challenge to get things fine tuned and ready for the WCG birthday challenge in November. Find the settings that work well and practice bunkering if that is something you have interests in.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

Yeah...I was caught off guard by it too. For some reason I never saw the notice. Lots of BETA work went out yesterday as well.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

sappyse107 , There are two categories. The "Pure" is week 5 and that only allows teams that meet specific conditions. Team Gridcoin does not meet those conditions and so can only go to week 4.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

Nothing GPU yet. They are allegedly still working on getting an application for Open Pandemics but that would have to go through BETA testing before released to the wild. So, unlikely we will see it any time soon.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

Strategy, bring as much as you are comfortable with now. As pututu stated, it will be most important on week 4 and especially week 5. Strategy on how to handle that will have to come when those dates are announced. I would run your most cost efficient stuff for runtime now though as points don't...

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

Being it is an actual WCG challenge, it is most likely at 0:00 UTC time as that would be the beginning of their stats day.

Does the [H] team have interest in being whitelisted for Gridcoin earning?

The "Fern" release was just put out today which removes the team requirement. So, going forward all discussion of Gridcoin "mining" should be directed to the Crypto/mining threads. Before anyone asks, the removal of the team requirement won't take hold until the transmission height which should...

Does the [H] team have interest in being whitelisted for Gridcoin earning?

Allegedly, the Fern update we have been waiting a year or more for should be ready within approximately a week.

Does the [H] team have interest in being whitelisted for Gridcoin earning?

You can earn Obyte with no up front investment. You can earn Biblepay but requires you to have a staking amount. Technically, you can also earn CPUcoin but that is kinda garbage right now and you have to share the CPU resources with their miner. I have how-to threads in the mining subsection for...

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

The good news is that we are more than likely going to make it through the 1st week without changing course at all. So, you should have some time to get that bad boy into production. 50 teams will make it through the first week and we tend to have a pretty decent output on a regular daily basis.

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

Reserved for tips and strategies We are qualifying for the Pure so could go all 5 weeks. The first 4 being based on runtime means you can run old legacy "garbage" and even downclock all your rigs to run slower or more efficient. So, take the opportunity to run more rigs but save more money per...

    WCG THOR Challenge 2020

I know some people aren't thrilled to run the Thor challenge as we typically focus on the Birthday Challenge in November and then the X-mas Challenge throughout all of December. However, I figured I would make this thread in case others were interested in this challenge as well. This challenge...

Best CPU/GPU combo for folding @ home?

GPU-wise, you will want to go nVidia but I would hold off for the next Gen series. Ryzen processors are probably the better bet as well.

What's the latest verdict on Windows 10 LTSC?

When users start using Android like they do a desktop OS on a daily basis, then bring it up. Apples to oranges there. And I would have to say that even outside that tightly knit corporate environment, the Windows vs. Linux argument still stands. The only difference is the shifting of the...

What's the latest verdict on Windows 10 LTSC?

Mint 19.2 was the latest to go down. Black screen blinking cursor. 3 other Mint VM's in the same ESXi box are still going strong. Identical setups. All basic core install with only the BOINC software pulled from repository. Only updates are the system updates that are found by default. No other...

What's the latest verdict on Windows 10 LTSC?

My limited uses of Linux typically bork worse with updates than Windows. Windows just works for me 99% of the time. Linux not so much. Ubuntu, Mint, Suse, others.... So, definitely YMMV on experiences. As far as LTSC went, my previous employer tried it and there were just a lot of random stuff...

How to get set up to earn FoldingCoin

Looks like they are still having problems with distribution. I don't think I have had one since February or so... This is the last comment in the Discord server for announcements. They have also mentioned in General of having issues with getting on an Exchange and possibly having a fork of the...

    Folding@home top 10 teams

Curecoin requires you to join their team. Foldingcoin, you can stay on this team but you would most likely need to create a new account because they use the wallet address in the user name to filter the stats to know who to give rewards to. I have a guide on it over in our mining sub section...

    Distributed Computing on Raspberry Pi

I'm too cheap to do one that nice. Plus the foam board option is more enclosed preventing a lot more oops as well as being more compact. Sticking 4 in the space of like 1 is a lot more appealing to me. Less chance of my 3 year old sticking a screwdriver in it...

    Distributed Computing on Raspberry Pi

This right here holds a lot of value. I had over 30 ARM devices in my phARM at one time. I can tell you it is a PITA to manage all of them and make sure each one is happy and not just sitting there idle or worse. As I progress through adulthood which now includes kids, I must also cut back on...
