Thanks for the info ChristmasGT, hopefully Seagate will take the hint one of these days.
Right now I'm looking at either the WD Reds or Greens. I'm kinda leaning towards the greens cause I don't run in RAID, just off an HBA. So I don't really benefit from their feature that stop the drive...
I'm RMAing my 3rd Seagate drive in 2 months. Had two zpools, one will a mix of WD's and seagates, and one with seagates only. Two drives in the seagate only pool failed, and now the only seagate in the WD pool is failing. Never again seagate, never again.
Too bad I bought them before the...
Ok, so I got the new drive yesterday. Took out the old one put the new one in. Unforunately "someone", who shall rename nameless, decided to reorganize the power cables and not plug-in one of the other drives in the vulnerable array. So now when I try to mount the pool I get:
I recently added a second vdev to my system, 4x2TB disks to the machine. Unfortunately the system now will randomly freeze, usually after 3 or 4 days. It was running fine for about a year now. I'm not really sure where the issue could be. Anyway here are my specs:
CPU: Core i7-3770...
I'm running two zpools with ZoL, one is version 28 and one is the most current. The message:
status: The pool is formatted using a legacy on-disk format. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
is getting annoying. Is there any reason not to upgrade...
I want to be able to watch Live HD TV from Comcast including such channels as HBO on multiple XBMC machines.
My current setup is:
-Basement server running Ubuntu 12.04 serving all media
-3 XBMC Linux end units connected to TV's
My questions are:
-What additional hardware do I need and...
ESXi just doesn't wanna work for me. So disappointing. I really doubt a 48 hour memory test will help, but at this point I really don't know what else to test. I've run it without the M1015 and it still reboot or freezes randomly
Pretty sure this is a memory issue. When I run just two VM's the machine stays on fine, but once I start increasing the workload (aka RAM usage) with more VM's the machine eventually crashes.
Originally I just did a single pass with MemTest so I'll be doing three passes later in the week.
All of the VM's are running from a single SSD. FreeNAS just provides NFS and SAMBA shares to the VM's.

I recently built an ESXi whitebox, with a M1015 passthrough to a FreeNAS 8.3 VM. Unfortunately I've had the host start freezing up on me a lot, usually after either a few hours or a few days. The logs don't give me any obvious warnings, so at this point I'm kind of unsure on how...
I recently decided to use napp-it with OpenIndian.
Does it require that I flash my LSI SAS 2008 card to IT mode, or can I leave it as it is?
Does OpenIndiana require additional drivers to support this card?
