I have a set of custom length Corsair SF450/600 cables and a Noctua NF-P14 140mm fan that I didn’t use in my build, fairly priced. If anyone is...
Qrash - thanks for jogging my memory! It was indeed Memory Express.
It was back in January with a brick&mortar retailer that also has online sales. Sorry don’t recall the name of the company. A couple of other...
EVGA 1080 GS or OC I can’t recall exactly. At 74 my memory is crap. ;-)
Well, after 11 months and reading almost every post on this thread my build is completed. Standard all-air thanks to snagging one of the last C14...
They are usable I guess, but now the custom cables will likely be the last parts received. :-/
Well, the AliExpress 'mistake order' was received and it was 4 x cable combs 8-wire. :-/
No verification process for me either.
My AliExpress order went in 9/27 and according to tracking it should arrive next week, so about a month for US orders. However, the seller...
Ha! I’m waiting on a 6-core Coffee Lake like most everyone else. I’d gladly take an 8600K.
And it begins . . .
Are you considering a B350 build? I’ve waited so long to do my build I’m now trying to decide between a i5 8600K 6-core or Ryzen 1700 B350 8-core....
Agreed. I ordered my cables from AliExpress and went with 300mm for the 24-pin.
Here are custom cable lengths I copied from a previous post months ago:
nCase Custom Cable Lengths:
250mm for 24 pin,
400mm for 8 pin,
Very interesting indeed with a 10C delta!
Looks great and serves a real function. I see a business plan here!
Mined Bitcoin for a couple years at the end of the GPU mining era and then tried an ASIC miner. Did pretty well until I got caught in the...
Did I read that Intel was going with a 2066 pin setup on these rumored new cpus?
You're in luck. Nvidia just announced they will do MacOS drivers for their Pascal series cards. Provided you can wait few weeks.
Am I wrong to think there seems to be an unusually large amount of QC issues with these new z270 mobos?
Show off! ;-)
Seriously wonderful! How are the temps?
Butchered the M1, sad. That dude should have gone with a much larger case.
Every time I see those pics I'm impressed all over again! Amazing job Qrash.
I have a PSU tester that came from Amazon. Used it a couple of times on questionable power supplies, very handy when you need it. $15 for the one...
As to PSU, consensus here seems to be the SF450 is more than adequate, including OC'ing. I hope others will chime in regarding GPUs as I'm still...
Personally, I plan on going with the 960 EVO. As ReaperX22 points out normal usage will likely never exceed the endurance limit of TLC NAND.
As others here have pointed out the longer 5 year warranty on the Pro versus the 3 year for the EVO is mainly due to the type NAND memory used....
I believe those are caps for the water cooling tubing penetrations for an exterior mounted reservoir. Not really necessary, minimal/no benefit.
With the motherboard 'loaded' prior to installing in the M1 was it difficult to secure the standoff screws?
Yes, a 4-core, 8-thread or even a 6-core, 12-thread would capture my money if they are priced right.
The ASUS Z270i is at the top of my motherboard list -- so far. It's still very early in Q1 rollouts and I'm still curious about ZEN and AM4 mITX.
Thanks for the link!
Trying to find info on new Z270 mITX mobos for my upcoming build. The ASUS ROG STRIX Z270I Gaming looks interesting....
As an old ex-Dell Certified Field Tech I would be RMA'ing the motherboard at this point, assuming you do not have a known good motherboard to test...
Thanks for that input, had me concerned there for a moment.
Hmmm. Are you sure? Like some kind of magnetic field or something I guess. I'm no electrical engineer but I question if it would cause a problem.
Never suspected the O.E. power cables could be so well managed. The twisting trick is brilliant, and simple. You just saved me the hassle and cost...
Nice piece of hardware trouble shooting! Had a similar 'bent pin' issue once but I discovered it during assembly, not after.
Wonderful, clean build! Your son must be thrilled. I only hope my build will be be half as tidy when I get to it.
I've also had little aluminum heat sinks come adrift inside a case. Luckily they didn't short any circuits. Do take care.
