Samsung Odyssey+ back on sale for $300 w/free shipping and returns

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/samsung-hmd-odyssey/8n2d0nk20p8m/jtx4 This is the lowest price I've seen for the O+ since the Black Friday sale. It's probably the best portable VR headset currently out there and compares very favorably against the Vive and Rift. I have one and definitely...

Activision and EA CEOs Appear on List of "Most Overpaid" in the US

Really? So why is it that CEOs were content to earn 20x to 30x their average workers salary from 1965 to 1985, yet suddenly required 200x to 300x from 1997 up to today? Why the 10x increase? Because they can get away with it. That's it. These new execs aren't 10x smarter than the previous...

Activision and EA CEOs Appear on List of "Most Overpaid" in the US

So why don't companies simply hire CEOs willing to work for 1/10 of what they're currently getting paid? I'm sure there are plenty of smart business execs out there that would be happy to work for $1.5 million a year vs the $15 million average that current CEOs are getting paid. Answer...

Activision and EA CEOs Appear on List of "Most Overpaid" in the US

Or tie CEO/Board of Directors pay to some average of their employees. It wasn't always this bad. A CEO did not suddenly become 300x smarter nor work 300x harder than their average employee in the 10 years between 1989 and 1999. So I'm not sure why he/she deserves to be paid 300x more. It's...

Pimax To Showcase Its 8K Headset And New Controllers At CES 2019

I agree with both of you regarding the 8K/5K+ decision. I was originally an 8K full package backer (light houses/controllers/hand tracking). I was expecting the 8K to be Pimax's undisputed flagship model, assuming that the Kickstarter actually sent me anything at all. And then it turned out...

Pimax To Showcase Its 8K Headset And New Controllers At CES 2019

I have a 5K+ at home that's been sitting unopened in its box for a couple of weeks now. I am a Kickstarter backer and Pimax was supposed to hold onto my headset until the base stations and controllers were ready as well. But they sent it to me anyhow because their organizational skill rivals...

"Criminal Conduct": NYPD Asks Google to Scrap Waze's DUI/DWI Checkpoints

We don't know the whole story here, only your side. No, it isn't typical. At least it isn't in most of the country. Maybe you live in an area where the police are constantly in danger of their lives on a daily basis. I try to steer clear of places like that. And if I did need to visit such...

"Criminal Conduct": NYPD Asks Google to Scrap Waze's DUI/DWI Checkpoints

And what do you think happens to someone falsely accused of rape? Or murder? If he's convicted, he gets locked up, strip searched and has his goods seized. EVERYBODY has the potential to completely destroy someone else's life with a lie. Not just the police.

"Criminal Conduct": NYPD Asks Google to Scrap Waze's DUI/DWI Checkpoints

I've had two people that caused a collision with my vehicle lie directly to the police in order to try and place me at blame instead of them (one of them a rich old guy who owned multiple businesses). Luckily there was a witness to the one with the old guy who phoned the police and gave an...

"Criminal Conduct": NYPD Asks Google to Scrap Waze's DUI/DWI Checkpoints

I never said one word about "giving up your rights". If someone is truly innocent, then I hope the judicial system works as intended and they are ultimately exonerated. Over the years, I've run into "bad apples" who were individuals, business owners, elected officials, etc. It happens. And...

"Criminal Conduct": NYPD Asks Google to Scrap Waze's DUI/DWI Checkpoints

The "screw the pigs" keyboard cowboys here are beyond hilarious. Don't want to get into trouble? Don't break the law. Simple. Oh, and keep thinking that the police aren't intelligent. They love criminals who underestimate them. It makes their job SOOOO much easier.

Pimax To Showcase Its 8K Headset And New Controllers At CES 2019

I wonder if the 16 GB of memory running at 1 TB/s bandwidth on the Radeon VII will lend itself to boosting VR framerates on high resolution headsets like the Pimax units. Would it be the GPU processing speed that is currently the bottleneck or is it memory bandwidth?

Second Apple Hardware Engineer Charged with Stealing Trade Secrets for China

Does that enormous savings take into account for the lost value for IP theft? Seems like a situation of trying to save pennies in order to lose dollars.

Internal Conflict Allegedly Kills Google's Censored Search Engine

"Google's CEO claimed the company has "no plans" to launch in China last week" Yes, I'm sure they spent countless man-hours working on a specially censored version of their search engine just for the heck of it.

    Titan RTX soon?

Just because one product is cheaper than another doesn't necessarily put it "within reach of millions". You don't need the latest and greatest (and most expensive) card to perform research. Last generation cards will do the same work, just a little slower.

    Titan RTX soon?

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA - “The introduction of T-Rex puts Turing within reach of millions of the most demanding PC users — developers, scientists and content creators.” At $2,500 a pop, "within reach of millions" seems a bit of a stretch.

Robots Replace Waiters at the 'Robot. He' Restaurant in Shanghai

Wow, don't bust your spleen there, Stalin! I should be thankful that I have to put in the equivalent of 14 1/2 months of work per year when there are perfectly healthy people out there leeching off the system (and my tax dollars) so that they don't have to work at all? I think that everyone...

Robots Replace Waiters at the 'Robot. He' Restaurant in Shanghai

After I graduated from college I had to work at Burger King for six months before I found a position in my chosen field. I did what I had to do in order to earn money and survive. Burger King didn't pay me any more than the other employees simply because I had a college degree. They paid me...

    DDR4 Prices are Falling

I paid $92 for a 2 x 8GB kit of G.SKILL TridentZ DDR4 3000 at the end of 2015 on Newegg. That exact same kit is still at $149 today nearing the end of 2018. I've never seen memory prices as crazy as these have been.

NVIDIA Previews Real-Time Ray Tracing with Vulkan

I'm not sure where you got all THAT from. For years people clamored for Nvidia to allow PhysX to run on a secondary Nvidia card with an ATI card doing the primary rendering. After it was proven by enthusiasts that it easily worked perfectly with a hack to the drivers, Nvidia's response was to...
