    Cooler for mild overclocking

Thanks, but I don't want to go with a closed loop cooler, specially for this: A last question please, how can I compare the heat created by i5-2500K and i7-4770K with my CPU? I'm asking this because most reviews test these CPUs and very very few test Phenom IIs. Those CPUs can reach up to...

    Cooler for mild overclocking

Thank you very much, guys, for your replies! :) Well, regarding liquid cooling, I'm on a budget and I'd like to have an easy to maintain system. I have ZERO experience with this cooling. Also, I've heard water cooling coolers are very noisy. On a side note, I'm a bit worried about VRMs. In...

    Cooler for mild overclocking

I currently have a Phenom II 955 and I'd like to push it moderately, let's say 3.6-3.7GHz. My system has the following components: - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Rev. C3 (max 95W TDP) at stock speed (3.2GHz). - MSI 870A-G54 AM3 motherboard (not FX version). - Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM (2 DIMMs on...

    Asus PB248Q

What about backlight bleeding? On the PA248Q it was horrible (I bought 2 PA248Q and send them back, now I have an Eizo EV2436W with ZERO backlight bleed). And is the PB248Q still using a 6-bit panel with advanced FRC?

No, as I said above, currently I don't play games.

    Eizo EV2436 for gaming?

You cannot go wrong with an Eizo, because they boast of having one of the best overdrive circuits in the market. I have read many reviews of Eizo monitors and all of them have a pretty well adjusted overdrive (they're not aggressive at all). This means there is no ghosting or corona effects...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

@Krad1: I have ZERO bleed on my unit. I think yours is defective and you should replace it with Eizo. @balnazzar: See my previous review in this thread. You'll notice my old EV2436W has much better uniformity than Krad1's unit. My new replacement has an almost perfect brightness distribution (I...

    Eizo EV2436 for gaming?

I have a EV2436W and I'm very happy with it. Although I don't play games, I think 9.4ms of lag is more than enough for RPG and adventure games, unless you're a hardcore gamer, and you'll notice no lag at all. If you're a hardcore gamer, it's highly recommended you go with a TN monitor instead of...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

@Surlias: I'm sorry for the late response, but I have been busy. Regarding the backlight bleed I would say it is not acceptable. My replacement has ZERO bleed (and I mean absolutely nothing). However, the IPS glow is another story. That's not a flaw, but a feature of all IPS screens without the...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

Update on this: Today, the seller got in touch with me and he told me Eizo have admitted all the issues: abnormal light sensor behaviour, firmware bug when changing the input signal and the 2 light patches described before. According to the manufacturer (Eizo), all of these problems have been...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

Replacement is not possible directly from Eizo, the warranty is only for repair (they told me this). But the seller could be willing to replace it.

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

Well, the german seller (olano.de through Amazon Marketplace) sent me a courier at no cost. The monitor is now in Germany under revision. I've sent a short report with the problems: bright patches (smudges) on the left side (not bleed), the abnormal behaviour of the light sensor and the possibly...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

What a shame, I have bleed on the upper right corner. And furthermore, I've discovered 2 clear smudges on the left side visible under light backgrounds. I have to replace my unit, no doubt, because the panel is defective (not for the bleed, but the smudges). Your lower right corner is fine...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

@Folex, Do you have any backlight bleed on your unit? I'm just curious about that. As I've said in my 'mini-review', I have a little of bleed on the upper right corner (it's not severe though). You have to show a black background on low light conditions and set the brightness at about 30 in...

    Need a 24" recommendation IPS, Semi-Glos, 1900x1200, fine pixel

The AG coating of the PA248Q is aggressive, I had one in the past, but maybe you would get used to the coating overtime, like me with my current Eizo EV2436W. Both have the same panels.

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

Yes, you can. Read the PRAD review. In addition, the EV2436W has an internal power adapter, opposite to the Samsung.

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

If you're european (like me, I'm spanish), you can buy it where I bought mine. Check out this. It's the same seller, but I bought the product from Amazon Marketplace. He does international shipping, ask him, he's a nice guy. Also he offers a 30 day trial period, you only need to pay the shipping...

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

No, it's Folex the user who complained of the flicker starting at 17% brightness. I'm not affected at all. I'm using 2 presets: User1 with brightness at 32% (140cd/m2) for day and User2 with 10% (49cd/m2) for night. I would say it's similar if you watch it closely, but on normal use it does not...

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

No, I didn't. I'm still waiting a response from Eizo Support regarding the ambient light sensor. Honestly, I don't dare to buy the SA24850DW because of the strong blue deviation. By the way, it uses a PLS panel, is not an IPS, so the thing you're seeing is 'PLS glow'. Apart from the coating...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

@Ultrasonic: Don't blame manufacturers, but LG.Display. Just they use the available panels which are suitable for their models. This has already changed with the arrival of LM240WU9, used in the new Eizo CG246 (very expensive and super high-end monitor, perhaps the best 24" in the world at...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

Neither do I. Just I want to know if my unit was a "lemon" or not :p The severe issue is the abnormal behaviour of the light sensor (well, at least for me). I haven't checked this bug. Have you checked it? To be honest, this bug does not bother me (so far). I think it will. I've seen some...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

For your information, I've contacted Eizo Ibérica Tech Support (Spain) today, and they told me this behaviour is NOT normal. The monitor should increase brightness as requested by the user even with the Auto EcoView function enabled. My guess is there is a little bug in the firmware and Eizo...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

Well, I have already the EV2436W at my home and I'm satisfied overall so far, but not with the coating (as you shall see shortly): === My short and unprofessional review of the Eizo EV2436W (comparing it with a NEC P241W too) === * The AG coating * Unfortunately, the coating is very similar to...

    i1 Display Pro

Hello, Excuse me for bumping this thread, but I've not found clear information about if this colorimeter can or cannot calibrate a plasma display (Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX508D). Does this colorimeter work with a plasma TV? If not, is there any colorimeter with similar quality able to calibrate this...

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

Hi again, Did you notice any flicker when brightness is set to 20% or lower? Ok, did you feel the white point is somewhat cool? Have you adjusted the RGB gain to your preference? Thank you again. I am also excited with the EV2436W. I can't wait any more :D

New Eizo EV - Series - PWM-free (partially)

You meant IPS sparkle, didn't you? IPS Glow is different and all IPS panels without an A-TW polarizer (99.9%) have it. However, IPS glow is only noticeable when viewing a black background. Does the coating have a similar "hardness" to others found on recent IPS LED monitors, such as HP ZR2440w...

    1920x1200 monitor recomendations.

LCD panel aberration :( The panel is no longer manufactured (probably due to the A-TW polarizer), so repair is not possible.

    1920x1200 monitor recomendations.

@Bun-Bun: The review of the EV2436W is now up. You can read the translation to english from german HERE. Black level is very good for an IPS panel (you can reach up to 0.01cd/m2 with zero brightness, but at the cost of contrast ratio), backlight bleed is almost zero according to the review. The...

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

Prad's review of the EV2436W is not similar to the review of the PA248Q: The PA248Q got a 'satisfactory' rating because it has unacceptable linearity problems, making the calibration difficult due to this. At first, I didn't notice this at all, but when I adjusted the RGB gain, I did (I've had...
  32. H

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

Where did you get that information? You are almost absolutely wrong. FS2332 and FS2333 both use an IPS panel (tested by PRAD). Only the EV2335W use a PLS panel (according to PRAD) and is marketed as IPS.
  33. H

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

That cannot be a surprise since LG.Display is the only manufacturer who makes IPS panels for 3rd parties (remember the EV2436W is an IPS). On the other hand, the surprise is a 10-bit LUT instead of an 8-bit LUT (and this is good). The EV2336W is an IPS, so it's a LG panel too.
  34. H

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

Finally, Eizo have confirmed the panel included in the EV2436W: It's a 6-bit+AFRC LG LM240WU8, but it uses a 10-bit LUT (a bit strange, perhaps). It's definite.

Backlight bleed in new NEC PA271W monitor; what should I do? (Pics inside)

Did you read the PA271W TFT Central review? They mentioned it. Other sites such as PRAD, don't mention this issue. Let that be clear: the issue will NOT disappear, just you're getting used to the 'grainness', but you're seeing the same. In short, if you want a non-grainy IPS panel, you must...

Backlight bleed in new NEC PA271W monitor; what should I do? (Pics inside)

I'm on the same boat as you. The NEC P/PA series are ruined by the AG coating, IMHO. You'll see grain not only on images and photos, also on white backgrounds and, in a greater extent, on light grey backgrounds (I think the effect is more noticeable on light grey than on white). It seems LG...

Backlight bleed in new NEC PA271W monitor; what should I do? (Pics inside)

That is IPS glow, not backlight bleed. Backlight bleed is noticeable even when you have your head in front of the screen.

Backlight bleed in new NEC PA271W monitor; what should I do? (Pics inside)

I have a P241W (not the same model) and I don't have any backlight bleed, and I mean ZERO. I think your level of bleed is unacceptable and you should return the monitor to the shop and ask for a replacement.
  39. H

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

@Namelessme: I think the coating will be bearable because it's likely the EV2436W uses a recent panel. I've tested 2 LED-backlit monitors so far: HP ZR2440w and ASUS PA248Q. Both have coatings perfectly bearable, but I send them back due to the mentioned issues above. I think I'm ready to...

Is NEC going to release a P242W model?

Yes, I don't want anything bigger than 25.5" (16:10, I had a 2690WUXi too), and I don't want a resolution bigger than 1920x1200. I have an old PC (AMD Athlon64 3500) with an old graphics card (NVIDIA 6600GT), so I think it's not worth a 2560x1440 monitor (my laptop is much better of course, with...
